Pfft. Splatoon Tournament all day every day...

Who wants chowder?

Yes. The Wii version is supposed to be more "action oriented" and uses pointer controls. The Wii U version is said to be based on the 3DS version, with touchscreen controls and more RPGish elements.

"Children of Morta" a hack 'n slash roguelike game has reached its Wii U stretch goal. PC version planned for Oct. release.

Here's the Wii version for contrast. Pointer controls better than touchscreen controls?

It just got real...

A Wii version being included is a win, since it looks like the Wii U version is based entirely on the 3DS version. We're talking drastically different games.

Signs point to the original Wii version being bundled with the Wii U game.

Thought the "control the message" thing also leaves room for abuse, like cherry picking good looking gameplay in a bad game or just outright faking it if the game's controls were too wonky.  I trust Nintendo on that but if MS or Sony wanted to do the same thing they would probably be accused of bullshot.

See: Watch_Dogs, The Order, Aliens Colonial Marines, etc. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Nintendo controlling the marketing message any more than any other dev/pub. I think it's a real problem, but Nintendo has more of a problem not commenting when things go off-script, rather than in their initial presentation.

...I prefer a person who has the balls to be an asshole and not give a **** what weasels think of him.

If he really doesn't care what people think of him he wouldn't run off to twitter to talk **** about the forum members.

Also like it has been said before why can't they do both? If they did both nobody would have said anything, why do they constantly have to give people a reason to second guess them when they could just be smart and reach everyone? Smart and Nintendo are not compatible these days.

Last year, NOA was given a budget and told to be responsible with their spending. So they're not going to do both things this year. I expect Nintendo to work with a similar structure and budget and the digital event + live streaming will work just as good as a big budge press conference.

E3 Digital Event

Hey remember that time I talked about how Iwata didn't utter a single word during the E3 Digital Event, the video presentation that aired before the start of E3, in which he appeared in the Smash Amiibo reveal sketch with Reggie?

What if God was one us?

2466
I agree. Remember all the time Iwata wasted by talking during last year's E3 Digital Event?

Oh that's right he didn't utter a single word during the entire presentation.

And yet you want a live press conference where he'll inevitably make an appearance and talk about stuff and say Please Understand and all that other meme-worthy stuff. And we'll sorta maybe-not-really-wink-wink make fun of his accent, because look at that funny Japanese old man we all want fired on stage with his ill-fitting suits.

If I want to hear about local sports teams I have no affinity with I can already listen to Bill Simmons' podcast.

If the Treehouse Live streams continue then everything will be good.

I'm getting it via Amazon so it will probably arrive next week. Gives me just enough time to finish playing Epic Yarn.

So nothing wrong with the review embargo right guys? It's ok to do that but not post a video of you playing the game? Its almost like "Gaming media" is nothing more than a PR arm extension enabled by the very consumers of said products.

That's what I love about this whole issue. Predictably, this whole mess has turned into the same stupid argument about game length (oh hey look at all the posts above mine), when it should be sparking a more thorough debate about publisher-controlled pre-release narrative, review embargos and marketing in general. But let's talk about how that YouTuber is "playing the game the wrong way", as if there's only one right way to play games.

Ready at Dawn never wanted us to talk about game length, quick-time events and reused boss fights. We keep letting devs and pubs get away with the same **** because we like it when we get screwed, apparently.

A quick heads up, Gamestop is now taking pre-orders for Gamecube Controller Adapters.

EDIT: Of course, this being Gamestop, they went ahead and bundled it with a GC controller.

I heard it might be worth your time, but you gotta wait until Thursday for the review embargo to lift.

The Order 1886. Such sweet sweet schadenfreude. The entire narrative of marketing is being controlled by a YouTube let's player and review embargoes are keeping game journalism outlets from properly commenting on the issues until Thursday.
