Hey Neal, I think you mentioned this on one of the News Reports that with Mario & Luigi being the "canon" RPG series that Paper Mario could probably take on a more adventure game route. (Please correct me if I'm wrong).


I would actually be for this. I think defining the Paper Mario series as a pure adventure game IP from now on could actually help both series out. With Nintendo unifying its development teams I doubt both series need to exist as RPGs anymore. I know that's not what some people want to hear but I think it probably makes the most business sense. If Nintendo draws a line on the sand and says "this is what both series are from now on" I think we can move forward without most of the contentious back and forth.

I posted my full list on the other thread. Games of show were definitely Horizon Zero Dawn, ReCore and The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild on the console side and BoxBoxBoy on the handheld side. Cuphead is still the best of the indies, although Fe and Tacoma also had good showings.

Aonuma has already explained why they didn't include gender options. It's a BS explanation and I think it's ok for people to be pissed. If you can't make Link female, and you can't make Zelda the main character because you literally can't think of anything else to do with Link if he's not the one doing all the hero stuff then fine, whatever. This is the 18th mainline Zelda game and it they want to keep telling the same story over and over again then go ahead.

But that speaks volumes, and you can't expect people to just take that at face value because it says "we don't know what do with Zelda if she's not just sitting in a castle/getting kidnapped or playing an extremely limited support role and we can't have Link doing those things." That's terrible and Nintendo should do better.

I hope the controversy doesn't die down because putting Linkle in a spin-off and then forgetting about her can't be the only thing that comes out of this.

Read a bit of Chris Kohler's impressions on Twitter. The Sheikah Slate was obviously supposed to represent the GamePad, but Kohler only had the button layout on the second screen. The game may well have some kind of map/inventory functionality but it's very obvious Nintendo is making this a single screen experience.

Sony had a great conference because they seem to be the first ones to understand that no one likes to hear so many talking head spout PR crap and play awkward demos. The show flowed very well and even the long gameplay segments did not wear out their welcome.

That being said, I'm probably playing more Xbox One games this year than PS4 games. Lotta stuff "in development".

I still think Colombia is there with Argentina as the best team in the tournament. I have no faith in this Brasil B-Team and I think Colombia can totally take them out. Ecuador should come out as the second team in the group and that will be a nice challenge for the US. Mexico still hasn't **** the bed which means they still have a great chance to do so. This could actually work in Colombia's favor as they now would meet Argentina in the finals instead of the semis.
