TalkBack / NWR Connectivity Jeopardy Live Coming to PAX East
« on: April 05, 2012, 06:55:39 PM »

On Friday April 6, the Connectivity crew goes live.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/sitenews/29267

We're proud to announce that Radio Free Nintendo won't be the only Nintendo World Report panel at PAX East in Boston.

NWR Connectivity Jeopardy Live will be debuting at the Arachnid Theatre on Friday April 6 at 10 a.m.

UPDATE 3/29 - We now have more details for you! We're a week away from the panel, and we've finally nailed down some specifics.

The panel will work like this: we'll have three brief (around 15 minutes) rounds of Jeopardy with three contestants each. The first three are determined through some listeners that wrote in to connectivity (at) nintendoworldreport (dot) com. The other two groups of three will be found during the event, or right before. Basically, try to find Scott, Lauren, or Neal and make them think you're super cool. Then you'll get on one of the ensuing rounds. We'll be giving away handmade Nintendo World Report patches to every contestant, and each round's winner will win another prize from the stash. At the end, the three winners will compete in a Final Jeopardy question for the biggest prize, which will likely be some sort of eShop gift card.

Does that make sense? I hope it does...

In addition, keep an eye on the official Nintendo World Report twitter (@Nintendo_NWR) and Neal's personal twitter (@nron10) for tweets live from PAX East that will also let you know when things are going on. Want to beat NWR staffers in Smash Bros.? Think you can take Jonny on in Magic? Want to see us all collectively drool over a Vectrex? Check the Twitterverse for details.

Thanks guys.

ejamer, I'm glad you like the music. No one has really said anything one way or the other about it, so I figured people must like it or at least not mind it. I love game music, particularly the old-school variety, so picking out music is a blast. A lot of times I pick music from the series or game discussed, but in some cases, I just pick some of my absolute faves (thus the EarthBound and Yoshi's Island tracks in episode 20).

Thanks again for the kind words. Glad our hard work is getting noticed!

Somebody is really good at video game trivia.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/connectivity/29119

Pack it up, pack it in, let me begin... this week's Connectivity show notes. We've got the usual news segment starting things off this week, featuring Patrick, Scott and Zach. I'm sure you'll find it quite newsy indeed.

But the biggie this week is the return of Connectivity Jeopardy (Connectopardy?) It's pretty awesome this week, let me tell you. I don't want to spoil it, but somebody is seriously good at this trivia game about video games.

At the end of the show, Andy and Zach wax poetic on the Playstation 2 duo of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. The only way to finish this segment it to climb to the top of it, jam your sword into its weak spot, and then feel really bad about the beautiful creature you just murdered for your own selfish desires.

What do you think of this nonsense we call a podcast? Let us know in the comments or by sending us some listener mail or by posting your thoughts in the comments down below.

Alba? Seems kind of insubstantial. My guess would've been more along the lines of Christina Hendricks...

YES. A million times yes.

Good question. I would say, send it to myself or Zach since we check swapnote the most. Also, mention somewhere in the note that you are asking a question for the show, so we know it's not just normal swapnotage.

Interested in Connectivity but don't want to throw down the cash for it? Try this demo episode!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/connectivity/29025

You may have heard that Nintendo just released 3DS demos here in the States. We at Connectivity thought this brilliant concept, the "demo," was so good that maybe we should give it a shot, too. So enjoy this demo episode, but be warned that after 12 and 1/3 listens, the demo will expire. It also requires 1350 blocks of free space.

This week's episode is kicked off with some news and listener mail. Scott, Zach, Patrick and Mike each try to glitch the segment and warp to the very end, but alas,it wouldn't work.

After that, we have a very special edition of Famicast Lite, as Danny, Daan, and James come together to spill the beans on the variety of demos already available for the 3DS in Japan. That's right; this demo episode put demos in your demo. Internet meme!

Lastly, Neal, Scott, Mike and Zach debate Swapnote. Is there a cold, calculated, and brooding genius behind Swapnote, or is the damn thing just cumbersome and purposefully difficult? Probably the latter.

You can click here to send us listener mail. Better yet, why not send us listener mail through Swapnote? It's a guaranteed way to piss off Neal. And what day isn't made better by pissing off Neal? Enjoy the demo!

Ahh, I can't wait for SSX. I spent so much time playing SSX 3 and Tricky on Gamecube and it never got boring. Screw social life, I'm gonna be real busy by the beginning of March! I hope Retro is working on an F-Zero game although I don't really think they do. The question is, what would be better? F-Zero in 3D or HD?

I would EASILY go for an HD F-Zero. Gorgeous environments and effects, super slick framerate, and racing online with 29 other players. YES PLEASE.

What's coming up in 2012 for Nintendo? We just might (not) know!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/connectivity/28954

We're back again with another brand spankin' new episode of Connectivity, and boy is it a doozy this week. Starting off, Danny, Patrick, Mike, and Zach all give their predictions for 2012. Will we see a new game from Retro? How about the release of Metroid Dread? Mike even throws in a "PreDON'Tion" for good measure. In our second segment, Danny, Neal, Patrick, Scott, and Zach do a roundtable on the latest news and follow that up with a healthy dose of listener mail.

But that's not all. After the regular show, Scott and J.P. have a nice long chat about hockey. You like hockey, right? I sure hope you do.

Feed our mailbag! It's hungry and if you don't send it a letter there is a very good chance it will eat Zach. You can save him from this gruesome fate by clicking here.

Yearly recap the Connectivity way.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/connectivity/28893

2011 is OVER. You know what that means. It means we're going to recap the hell out of it. In episode 16 of Connectivity Zach, Danny, and Patrick talk briefly about the last few downloadable releases for the 3DS eShop. On top of that, Neal and Scott join Zach in a nice long breakdown of their favorite Nintendo and NONtendo games of the year. Start 2012 off right and shove this in your earholes. I promise you'll enjoy.

Make it your resolution to email us your questions by clicking here. There's a good chance you'll hear it on the show.

Sonic, Zelda, and Doctor Who; sounds about right.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/connectivity/28836

Just a quick headcount... OK, good. Looks like most everyone survived the holiday bloodlust. Congratulations on making it through another family-filled and travel-heavy holiday season!

This week on Connectivity, the theme is timelessness. First up, Zach and Scott come together to thankfully talk about something they do know a thing or two about: Christmas presents! Yes, it seems that no matter the age, nothing beats gathering around the playground and comparing the quantity and quality of gifts received over Winter break. Hooray middle class America!

The following segment features Pedro, Daan, Josh and that little blue hedgehog who just won't quit. The guys cover both Sonic Generations and Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games before segueing dangerously close to fanfic territory as they come up with their ideal Mario and Sonic crossover. Perhaps a scene where the two share a chili dog a la Lady and the Tramp? ...And I just puked.

Next up is the mother of all Skyward Sword discussions. Mike, Andrew, and Patrick extensively cover the ins and outs of Link's latest adventure. It should go without saying, but this will be a SPOILER filled chat. So, if you haven't beaten the game yet and don't want to know whether the fire or the water dungeon comes first, skip right along.

After the credits roll, stick around for a bonus conversation about the Doctor's latest Christmas special with Scott, Nicholas, and James. See if the guys give it five out of five Sonic Screwdrivers!

That'll do it for 2011. Did you get some great gifts this Christmas? Or do you have a Christmas past that was chock full of amazing presents? You should click here and send us an email about it. We'll see you... in the FUTURE!

News and Rayman: Together in one convenient package!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/connectivity/28732

Well, even without new ambassador games available when this episode was recorded, we still had a ton to talk about. Would you believe that Xenoblade is coming to America? Crazy, right? Also, would you believe that the new Rayman game is pretty darn good? I guess that is probably a yes. Scott talks with Zach and Andrew about all that jazz in this episode, which you will surely enjoy.

There's also a contest! Send in your name suggestions for our quick 1-minute rant segment and you might win something! You can email them to us by clicking here. That same link also works for sending us any old question or comment. Please also review us on iTunes and we will be your best friend.
