Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 103: Kids in the Harr
« on: January 20, 2012, 08:32:41 AM »
Great episode!

First of all, thanks for choosing my request: Game 4, Smart Ball! That game has very memorable music, and it was great listening to Jonny trying to guess it. I was surprised that I even knew the answer to the trivia question. And very cool observation on where the name Jerry could have come from! (Japanese pronunciation 'jelly'!).

Game 1 sounds atrocious. Bebe's Kids is infamous for its badness.

I recognized Game 2 almost immediately from the first few seconds of the first song. llusion of Gaia: I love it!

I didn't identify Game 3, Code Name: Viper, or Game 5, Monster Tale, as I have not played them.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Has No Plans to Fix Mario 3D Kart Glitch
« on: January 17, 2012, 05:06:37 PM »
Is this glitch widespread as it seems? I've yet to see someone online use it.

It happens too frequently for my tastes. When I see a lot of people voting for Maka Wuhu, I already know what's going to happen once the race starts. I haven't learned how to do the glitch myself, I'm simply not interested. It just saps the fun out of a race when people are always picking the same course in the hope of boosting their VR. Boo!

Yeah, very disappointing that Nintendo is aware of it and cannot or will not do anything about it.

Excellent news! Hope this means more StreetPasses for me (if people remember to turn that feature on, that is...)

Just insane that #1 Super Mario Bros. 3 had not been used.

Ah! I own #2 Meteos and #3 Wario Land 4, and I was not able to identify them. I guess the music for those two did not stick in my mind.

I never played #4 or #5, so I naturally could not guess those.

Not my best Radio Trivia this time, but great episode nonetheless!

The idea of Animal Crossing being an app on the Wii U main menu is very intriguing and makes a lot of sense. AC (GCN) is the kind of game where I felt like I was living a separate life, and it always relaxed me.

Swap Note is pretty awesome, as Jonny said, no doubt about that. But it takes up a lot of time having to sit and wait for the notes to download, especially when it seems they should have already been downloaded with SpotPass. It gets cumbersome when you have a long list of friends posting 'reply to all' to everything everyone is posting.

If Retro could work on the next Zelda... wow. I would love to see the franchise go in a new direction. Retro is extremely talented, for sure.

Great episode! I don't have much to add, except I love Skyward Sword and found very little to be disappointed with, overall. The Silent Realm sections were pretty cool actually.

Great info, thanks! So much stuff packed into this one little update, I'm still finding new stuff. Camera, Mii Plaza, Nintendo Zone... it's all good!

I'm so glad I upgraded my SD card recently, looking forward to busting out the 3DS and recording on the fly!

How weird it is...

In all seriousness, how awesome is it to get all these features in one fell swoop. I love this update!

I'm really enjoying Skyward Sword as well! And of course Super Mario 3D Land.

As Jonny was saying, this holiday season is pure Nintendo bliss with Mario and Zelda (and Mario Kart 7 releasing soon!). For me, all other games have fallen by the way side for the moment, EXCEPT for BIT.TRIP Complete. The BIT.TRIP games are incredible, and I'm playing for the high scores among my friends!

Haha, Greg is right, poison mushrooms are incredibly evil in 3D Land.

NSMB 'Mii and U'... oh no!

« on: December 01, 2011, 09:04:08 AM »
Finished listening to the entire telethon, it was excellent!

The GameCube discussion was very interesting, I have nothing but fond memories of playing the Cube, and enjoying the great games that accompanied the hardware. Eternal Darkness should have been a game changer, but maybe not enough people played it? It is still a wonderful game that I want to replay again.

I really liked the Jeopardy, some of those questions were pretty tough! And I loved the way everyone stuck to the end, the fatigue settling in nicely. Overall, I'm really proud of everyone for making this all possible.

And man, now I'm just super intrigued by red velvet. What could this possibly be? My imagination is going all over the place.

Since I couldn't listen to the entire event that day, I truly appreciate this being available! I loved the Super Mario 3D Land discussion in part 1 and the segment on answering the callers' questions. Now on to part 2!

Amazing work Greg, what else can I say?

As always, great podcast. I loved the mailbag reply concerning the state of Nintendo, and how seriously 'out-of-touch' with reality some gaming 'journalists' really are when they proclaim Nintendo will be going the way of Sega.

138
I was pleased with the Kirby discussion during the mailbag section. Kirby 64 definitely has one of the best and most creative copy-ability systems in place.

I enjoyed the discussion on what Nintendo's reporting of a financial loss really means. I found  the discussion enlightening, because all I've been hearing about is people repeatedly saying 'Nintendo is doomed.'

« on: October 23, 2011, 01:24:29 PM »
Really love the music for game 1, Banjo-Tooie.

I knew game 2 had to be Wario somehow, wasn't sure if it was the first one or not. That game has terrific music.

No, I never played game 3, Wetrix, either!

I never got a chance to play game 4, Bugs Bunny Rabbit Rampage, but I sure as heck remember seeing the screenshots in Nintendo Power and really wanting to play it. I didn't realize it turned out so bad though.

Game 5 has great music, as expected from a KH game. 358/2 is definitely a weird name. I liked the first KH on PS2, and I also played Chain of Memories on GBA, but at this point the entire series has expanded too much for me to jump back in, especially since it's not concentrated to only Nintendo platforms.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 98: It's Hard to Say
« on: September 30, 2011, 12:22:29 PM »
Another good episode!

I correctly identified game 1 and 3 (Fester's Quest) (lucky guess on #3 based on the franchise).

I never played game 2 (Boktai) or 5 (G & W Gallery).

I did not get game 4, though I owned the game before.

Game 1: Other M

Fantastic game, I just never thought too highly of the music, simply because during the game, there never seems to be enough of it. But the selections used in this episode were great!

Game 4 - Rocket slime

I know some people think highly of this game, but I didn't find it that apealling for some reason. I sold it after spending a few hours with it. That stuff you mentioned about the reformed monsters at the church is veeeery strange indeed.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 97: Mime Language
« on: August 30, 2011, 01:28:47 PM »
Great episode!

I only got 1 correct (Game 2). I have not played any of the other 4 games.

Wow, game 1 has some fantastic music. The original Batman has also been used on the show before, both displaying the great music Sunsoft had, 8-bit music at its finest.

Game 2 was such a let-down for me, personally, when I played it. Yoshi's Island DS is not a bad game, but the SNES original has such a special place in my heart that it's quite difficult for anything to best it.

My fiance and I were laughing so hard when Zach started discussing his passion for game 5, Poke Park. "You get... to make best friends!!!" Zach is so enthusiastic about it.

I looove Illusion of Gaia, and I'm so happy I still have my cartridge. Jonny's discussion makes me want to pop it in right now and play it again!

3 correct out of 5 for me.

TYP, thanks for selecting my request on game 3! My fiance and I were thrilled. Greg, you were sooo close in guessing!

Game 1 I had not played.

Game 2 I got! I loved Wave Race 64 since the first time I played it on N64. I also bought it again for the Wii VC.

Game 4 is a great choice. DKCR is definitely one of the Wii's best.

I had not played game 5. I always found the Advance Wars games a bit tedious, moreso than Fire Emblem (which I'm a big fan of)

Awesome episode as always! My fiance and I are really happy whenever there's a new episode, and we always wait until we can listen to it together.

I got game 1, 2, and 3. But I've never played game 4 and 5.

Yeah, it's cool we made it to episode 95 without having used game 1, NES Metroid before. That music still gives me goosebumps.

And I love game 2, Dragon Warrior. Years after it came out, I still enjoyed that game on the NES.

@MegaByte: Thanks for the link. Even if you haven't updated it, I love video game music radio.  ;D

Always a pleasure to listen to Radio Trivia!

I got game 1, 4, and 5 correct.

I loved hearing game 1! Even as a Nintendo console owner I remember being mesmerized by Sonic on the Genesis and became a big fan once he started appearing on Nintendo systems.

Game 3 was hard to identify as I wasn't sure which Animal Crossing game it was.

I never played game 4 but I am so familiar with its music at this point.

Game 5 has fantastic music, especially song #3. That was the song that gave it away for me. Too bad the game doesn't measure up to the soundtrack.

Great E3 coverage from everyone!

I enjoyed hearing James talk about Picture Lives for 3DS eShop. What a strange strange game it sounds like... this is the first time I ever heard of it.
