TalkBack / Re: 3D Classics Kid Icarus Review
« on: May 06, 2012, 08:14:13 PM »
Wow. Until reading this I had no idea this game had auto fire. That makes it easier. Without even looking I knew Zach wrote this. Maybe it is just my own retail experience, but I will never understand the intense hatred of Gamestop (not trying to start a war BTW).

I just made 2 folders. One labeled "Like" for games I like, one labeled "Crap" for the Pokedex, NES Golf and other stuff I will never play.

2 thoughts about digital versions of retail games. I like the fact that this means I will not have to buy games instantly. I went through Hell trying to find Radiant Historia at a decent price until they finally reprinted it. Now this will not be an issue. However, I wonder what this will do to collectors. Once most games are easily available digitally, will anything really be collectible? I think we are at a cross roads in gaming history right now. It will be interesting to see where we end up.

I have never played the game and am debating which version to get. My problem is I have such a back log right now I am not sure if I will ever get around to playing it. Curse my luck not getting the flu.

I had a blast being a contestant on the panel, it was a lot of fun. I am just glad I do not do too poorly, I was afraid I would end up blanking on every question. The ironic thing about all of the Penny Arcade questions we did not know is that most of the answers were in the 2 books I did not own yet, that I bought right after the panel.

You guys spoiled my son BTW, every panel after yours he wanted to ask a question because he thought he would get a prize. :) He loves that lunch box, he uses it for all of his "treasures". I hope you guys come back next year, I would love another shot.

Picked one up at PAX East and I love it. Great shirt with a cool design.

Well that's a relief. BTW, listening to the discussion about bringing back old franchises got me thinking. Adventures of Lolo as a hardcore 3rd person shooter. Completely with bro fisting and half naked "armored" La La. Day one baby.

We had fun attending the panel, it was great to listen to. I hope my son was too big a distraction for you guys, he was a little antsy to get onto the expo floor and play some games. That and he was getting rather upset that he was dying in Super Mario Bros. I apologize if he caused any great difficulties.

Yeah I saw the vendor that had it for $40. I had to drag my son away from it. I hate when stores make their money like that. Actually collectibles are one thing, taking toys out of kids hands is another.

Yes he does. My wife was inline an hour before the store opened to insure he got it. Does anyone know if the Legendary 3 pack is still in production?

My son is pretty bloody close to whole set right now. He is missing the Legendary 3 pack, Dark Spyro, Camo, Sunburn, Warnado and Wham-shell. FYI I  believe the total number is 37 including all legendary figures.

PAX East is an incredible experience, I have been going all 3 years and have loved it. You should have stayed for the concerts that night, they were a blast.

Thanks for talking over the whole of the DCAU. Would you say in general the two disc sets are worth the price?

116
Are they available to order yet? I could not find them on the site anywhere.

After hearing you guys raving about it I picked up a point card at work and downloaded Zen Pinball. So far I am loving it. It is the perfect "break" game when Mario or Mutant Mudds makes me want to put my 3DS through a wall.

An episode or two back you guys mentioned doing an extra segment on the DCAU movies, I would love to hear it. I just started getting into them and would like to know which to avoid.

« on: March 09, 2012, 09:42:56 PM »
I bought my 3DS when Target dropped the price early, so I was able to score the ambassador games as well. My games consist of:
Zelda OoT (bought before I owned the system so I could get the soundtrack)
Steel Diver (Christmas Present, cheap game)
Pilotwings Resort (Ditto)
Super Mario 3D Land (Valentine's Day)
Resident Evil Revilaitons (just bought)

Download games:
Pushmo (I love it)
Mutant Mudds (Ditto)

I tend to bring the 3DS with me everywhere, so I can street pass. I play a game on my lunch and while waiting in check out lines. This is the first portable system I have owned that I actually really take me with anywhere. I  have never really liked Game Boy games so I have not downloaded any virtual console games yet, although Punch-Out is really tempting me right now.

TalkBack / Re: What I Played in January 2012
« on: February 10, 2012, 09:44:42 AM »
Off the top of my head and in no particular order I played:
Zelda: Skyward Sword- Finally completed it in January, did not like it much. Had numerous issues with the controls.

Mario Galaxy 2: Stopped playing a while ago, went back to finish. Was very frustrated by some of the later stars and walked away.

Skylanders: Played with my son for a little bit. Burnt some sheep.

Pushmo: Love the game, highly addicted to it. Stuck on one of the later levels though. Was distracted by Mutant Mudds and need to get back to it.

Swapnote: Been having fun with it, but interest seems to be dying. Too bad. Showed off some of my various collections.

Mutant Mudds: First few levels are easy, then the challenge ramps way up. Great use of the 3d

Pilotwings Resort: Got it for Christmas because it was on sale. Ok game but not great.

Zelda Minish Cap: Played through the first dungeon, fun game, will finish sometime.

Find WII, Puzzle Swap: Did both on the rare occasions when I Street Passed.

Resident Evil Revelations Demo: Played through it a few times, trying to decide if I want the game or not. Still unsure.

Zelda OOT 3D: Played a little bit trying to finish the game, got distracted.

Wario Ware Inc: Played a few minutes on lunch break. Love the game

Mario Kart Super Circuit: Yup it still sucks.

Mario VS DK: One of my favorite ambassador games, having a lot of fun with it.

Wario Land 4: Messed around with while trying to decide what to vote for in Retroactive. Plan on finishing it one day.

Zelda 1: Checked in to see if I beat the first quest, I had.

F Zero Maximum Velocity: Hated it. Then found out about the feathering trick, need to play again.

Zelda  4 Swords: Messed around with it briefly, not enjoying it much. Need another player.

Mario Kart 7 demo: Messed around with it in Target, seems fun.

I also spent a good portion of the month running around like mad trying to find Radiant Historia for a price I am willing to pay. Held off on getting it when I saw it in November because of Christmas, but no one got it for me. Probably never going to get to play it.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Connectivity EP: Resident Evil Revelations
« on: February 07, 2012, 01:03:18 PM »
I am having a hard time deciding whether or not to get this game. I have never really played the series before, with the exception of 4. I had a difficult time with 4, finally giving up when I could not get through the siege when you trapped in the house. I wonder if this game would be worth it for me or not.

My bucket list (off the top of my head):
Pre 8 bit: Discs of Tron (Environmental cabinet), E.T. (2600 just to see how bad it is)

8Bit: Ducktales 2, Star Tropics 2

16 Bit: Illusion of Gaia, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy III (US Name whatever that is in Japan), Secret of Mana, Orge Battle, Any Sonic game (never played one on a Genesis)

32/64: Mario Party 1 and 2, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Mario Tennis, Final Fantasy 7, Prince of Persia

Gamecube era: Pikmin 1 and 2, Dk Jungle Beat, Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime, KOTOR

Modern: GTA 4, WWE All Stars, Batman Arkham (both), Super Meat Boy, Scarface (Wii)

Handheld other: All handheld Zelda games, the CDi Zelda games, Final Fantasy Tactics, Radiant Historia.

I actually own a few of these games, I just never have the time to sit down and play them.

TalkBack / Re: Club Nintendo Rewards: Poster Sets
« on: January 30, 2012, 05:31:40 PM »
I have the first Zelda and the Doneky Kong poster sets, which I love. The 25th set is on back order because my original set came in destroyed.  I would like to hear how you managed to get the Zelda poster framed, I can not find a frame to fit the thing anywhere. Every place I check wants way too much to frame it.
