I wouldn't be counting on a gen 3 remake. IMO the first two were only made because the original GBC games were incompatible with the new data structure of gen 3 onward.

I think we're most likely going to be seeing another spinoff

That's Thirdparty-ese for "We dont give a **** about the Wii U and nobody will buy our game for that platform anyway so we're just not gonna bother."

Basically what we've been hearing since 2007

Nintendo really pigeonholed themselves into the "Soccer-Mom" market with the Wii. Naming the new system Wii U will not help to shake that stigma. The flood of shovelware combined with long droughts of quality games didn't raise Nintendo's stock in the third party eyes either. The Wii was hot **** for a few months and then it was completely written off by the big developers.

Besides, it's been 6 years since 2006. The third parties are likely already anticipating news of Sony's and MS' new platforms, and aren't banking on Nintendo's current-tech console stacking up to whatever Sony/MS is hiding up their sleeves.

And don't get me started on the lasting stigma of the Wii's horrific online setup.

you're lucky your wii u will even CONNECT to the internet for an update

Good luck getting any Metal Gear Solid or DMC on the WiiU. After all, Nintendo is just for kids and soccer moms now. Right? Right?

Yeah, Nintendo stepping in and funding a Ninja Gaiden 3 port and being the only ones willing to pick up Bayonetta 2 clearly illustrates that Nintendo has no desire to bring that kind of content to the Wii U.

Its not so much Nintendo not wanting to bring that kind of content to the Wii U but other parties hesitance to let them have it.

*whoosh*

How about some actual internet service? Like, not just connecting to it, but actually getting to use it as well? That'd be great.

My thoughts on the Wii: Nintendo was running an interesting game, too bad nobody wanted to play it seriously.

TalkBack / Re: Miyamoto Shares Thoughts On Wii U F-Zero, Metroid
« on: November 05, 2012, 12:34:45 AM »
This is beyond disappointing. You don't need to do anything new with F-Zero. F-Zero is already perfect, there is no need to screw around with it. At all.

It's bewilderingly simple. Copy/Paste GX's engine, add stuff like track editors, online play and share, and other polishers of the like.

The fact that they still have no idea how to make new F-Zero, even with a more traditonal controller in the WiiU, seriously makes me have my doubts on the WiiU's future.

314
Whatever changes eventually produce new F-Zero, I fully support.

You're not trashing the idea of a Mario Paintball FPS are you?

If Nintendo announced anything like that I would **** my pants. Then I would put on a new pair of pants and **** them too.

317
Considering he was one of the executives behind Metroid Prime, I'd say he already has  ;)

318
I honestly dont think that Nintendo as a developer would be interested in a FPS, even if it is the Conduit.

Nor do I think HVS has any interest in selling it, as I also think nobody has an interest in buying it

319
I hope Nintendo buys the Megaman franchise just to get it out of the hands of Capcom

Because one cold night, when the Megaman franchise is fast asleep, those hands will be holding a pillow... if you catch my drift.

As long as there's as little as a passing mention of F-Zero, I'm happy.

That just means that they've renewed the trademark, allowing them to port the games to XBLA sometime, if ever. Even the current Rare team says Microsoft wont entertain the idea of KI3.

Besides, Microsoft has better things for Rare to work on. Like more Kinect garbage.

I would give my left testicle for new Killer Instinct made by old Rare. Then I'd undergo stem cell therapy to re-grow it and give that one too.

Its like... I want to believe Reggie. I really, really, really want to believe him. But for years now we've heard how Nintendo totally hasn't forgotten their hardcores.

And we get Wii Sports Resort to show for it.

Oh sure there was Skyward Sword but what else was there, other than a few dumbed down ports from the 360/PS3? I remember hearing stories of how HVS had to beg and plead with Nintendo to let them do online matchmaking on Conduit 2 the way it should be (and even then having to make a huge compromise).

Unless we see new F-Zero and/or Starfox right off the bat next E3 I'm keeping my expectations low.

325
Honestly this doesn't surprise me in the least.

Also, EA sabotaging their own game on purpose to spite Nintendo? They've done just fine without any real commitment to Nintendo platforms (read: Wii), whatever they may lose out of this is likely pocket change to them.
