Awesome! That's great news!

See? Once again, sales do not dictate sequels.

I think Other M is a great game.  Thanks for acknowledging some of its awesomeness, Nate.

Seems interesting! This might be my first Layton game if I decide not to get the first one later this year! :)

If you like one, you'll like them all.  To me, that is a testament to the quality of the games, not a critique of the series' lack of trying to fix what ain't broken.

Try them!

Heard about this a little while ago, but, still: "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!"

Wow, that's really awesome.  I bet it would take me a long time to decide my favorite design too.  Very cool of Nintendo to provide these kind of rewards for (essentially) free.

It's OK that the Japanese CN gets more stuff, Nintendo is a Japanese company!  I'm quite pleased with all the awesome items available in my area.  *snuggles 3DS game case*

Seems like everyone is getting a heavy dose of VC Kirby lately.  Maybe that compilation game is coming sooner than we think?

I'm normally very optimistic about games getting localized as it seems most notable ones do sooner or later.

However, I don't know, something about these Guild titles just feels ... "Japan only."

Thoughts?

...I actually watched the entirety of the unlockable Theater Mode.

I did that too!  I dimmed the lights, made some popcorn, got a soda, and had an awesome time.

Are the games on Guild 01 brand new games or is it a re-release compilation?

Does it use the 3DS' gyro controls? That might be the first cool implementation of that input I know of!

Glad to see so many people piping up with their enjoyment of the game.  Personally, I loved the game, and so did a lot of other Metroid fans: link.

@broodwars

1. If I had to bet, I'd wager the new 3DS game will follow from the reboot's plot.  So, take solace in that.  Although, do you have a 3DS?

2. CV started as a generic "dude vs vampire" plot, but in my opinion, it evolved into its own identity.  Especially during the PS1/2 and GBA/DS games.  Those are the ones I like the most and that's what I would like to see continue.  But again, this is just a personal taste thing so, no need to agree with me.

3. When exactly was the franchise "driven into the ground"?  All the flagship games have been met with at least moderate commercial and critical success.

@Tora

On the topic of gameplay, I think instead of a classic style, they should try to make a [fresh] 2D game.  I really haven't seen any developer try to push hardware when working on a sidescroller and I think that CastleVania would be a perfect fit.  They could combine aspects from the 2D and 3D games. as long as the art style remains I'd be all for it.

Agreeeeeeeeee!

As for, the topic of over releasing...I really don't see that as a problem.  The games differ in settings and are all different.  Gameplay changes are minimal but the area's you explore feel fresh and the main game is usually pretty long.   We haven't seen a portable Castlevania game in about four years, I'm all for Konami making three games during the 3DS's life.  As long as there different.

Agreeeeeeeee!

Question: I've been stuck at 98.9% completion for a while now.  I just need a few more Powers (4 or 5?).  Can anyone tell me definitively if some can only be attained by playing online matches? Or does offline work just as good?

Are there ANY restrictions that limit which powers you can get at the end of something? or is it all purely, 100% random chance?

Thanks in advance.  This information will help me decide if I ignore some responsibilities and play KIU tomorrow night  :)

@Tora

Yea, I thought the 3D Classics KI would be a nifty little bonus for a game I was going to purchase day one no matter what.  Lo and behold, I was completely blown away by the effort and detail put into the background artwork and updated controls.

Really pleasantly surprised.

I am also a big time fan of 2D sprite work.  I hope it becomes its own style genre instead of just something used in the occasional game here and there.

There was a time when polygonal graphics were new and so everyone had to use them or be branded out-dated.  I think we're reaching a time where no one needs to use polygons to show they can make a good game.  I hope this momentum continues!

I wonder how the 3D effect would be emplimented, that would be interesting.

I'm hoping for the parallax awesomeness that I've seen in the 3D Classics and several downloadable titles.

I think that's my favorite use of 3D technology so far.

Well, that and the Kid Icarus Uprising animes ...

If this is as good as the older ones, I might seriously have to invest in a 3DS.

For me, that means following from part of the original timeline.  The reboot borrowed to heavily from other games and not enough from other CVs.  Of course, it felt more like real CV than Judgment, but, that's not saying a ton  :)

... and you can always grab the DS Cover Template from over at TheCoverProject.net and put together a neat little custom cover (and upload it to share!) for any particular ideas you might have for this case.

Whoa.  Awesome.  I wasn't familiar with this, thanks for sharing!

I'm interested in the case, but what if you lose the case filled with 18 3DS games?!

PROTIP: Do not lose 3DS game case.

...or 3DS...or smartphone...or MP3 player...or gold watch....or antique table knife.... or any other small yet valuable item.  :)

@fixyourface0814

The Luigi 3DS case was enticing for me, but I already have a hard case  :-\

Don't fret, you got a pretty awesome item. ;D

@Neal

Thank you for acknowledging all of that.

@UncleBob

1. Neal and I did just reach an understanding a few posts ago.  It's not impossible.

2. I wouldn't be here if I thought "NWR suck[ed]".  Kotaku sucks.  I haven't been there in yeeeeeears.

3. Is your new emphasis on these rules directed at anyone but me?

4. Will my many positive comments on articles also be subject to this kind of "off topic" pruning?

Best. Reward. Ever.

Could not agree more.

I've been checking the CN site almost daily since they went out of stock the first time.  When I saw they were back I dropped what I was doing and ordered one right away.  When it arrives I imagine the UPS guy will appear to me as a jolly, bearded fellow in red garb.  I will open the box and learn the true meaning of giving ...... surveys to companies.

Thanks for writing this up, Zach. Well done, sir!

@Neal

Thank you. That was very well said and very respectful.  I appreciate it very much.

[I'm] hoping for North America to release the same Virtual Console games that Europe has released...

I think what you just said there is ideal and I can get behind it 100%.  I interpreted some things as being beyond that which you just stated, and felt the need to question/challenge them.  Not say they, or you, are stupid.  Merely cause people to really think about what they are saying and what they claim to believe on the off chance that maybe, just maybe, it will cause them to change their own mind.

Thanks again.

@Neal

I'm sorry, but if you're reading over this thread and think I'm more "aggressive" or "final" than anyone else? Well, let's just say I have a feeling what I say is coloring people's opinions a lot more than how I'm saying it.

Gamers cling really tightly to their griping, they consider it a sign of refinement and elite stature if they can so easily insist so many things are not up to their standards.  I think Michael Pachter is an attention-whore who doesn't know squat about gaming.  But his distance from the culture gives him enough perspective to accurately address the issue of what he calls "whiners" vs "complainers."  More than any other culture, gamers are whiners more than complainers.

So, no, I don't think you are anyone else here who feels offended by my challenges is blowing smoke.  But, based only on my opinions, I think it's worth that challenge if I can encourage anyone to question that imbalance of negativity.

So this negativity I am "bummed" about is in response to a desire for balance.  Some more good, and less whining, to balance out the negativity and the whining.

You can't compare that to being bummed about wanting an imbalance where we get everything we want all the time.

So, when I chimed in on this subject, I believe I very politely, very kindly asked if, given the recent 3DS VC additions, the previous drama was deserved in hindsight.  I didn't say "toldja so!" or say anyone was stupid or anything like that.  In fact, look over my first several posts.  Things didn't go off the rails until people started misinterpreting what was being said (not just by me) for the sake of a personal debate instead of a discussion on the issue.

~~~
Let's keep in mind, I don't think I've ever sworn at someone, called them a name, or implied they were not smart.  Foolish? Yup. Obtuse? I don't think I've said it but I've certainly approached them as such.
Also, if you look back at my posts, even in this thread, if someone explains something I don't immediately agree with (Insano, thank you) I'm more than happy to concede understanding.
~~~

When I first started getting into challenging discussions, people criticized me for not just letting something go after I said my piece.  So, sometimes, if I can identify that no understanding will be reached, I'll do as you said I do.  I do not believe in just ignoring a message and running away.  I think that's cowardly and disrespectful to the person you're talking with.  So, am I really that damned if I do and if I don't?

198
Wow.  That's fairly awesome.

I only have 3 of these titles  :-\

If prices like this came to America I might just be out of excuses for some of them.

I'm thinking we should start a thread on the NWR Feedback forum for comments, criticisms and compliments regarding the qualty and content of NWR articles, allowing the posts for the articles to stay on topic about the subject of the article instead of these repeated deviations into territory that's been well covered by now.

Is this something the general forum audience would support?

um, that just sounds like the equivalent of one of those "suggestion boxes" intended to never be checked.

I mean, if we can't voice positive or negative comments on stories, what's the point of a forum?
