I have to say, that's a really neat idea.

It feels weird to say in regards to Virtual Console, but...well done Nintendo?

152
I can see the D-Pad offering an additional degree of control over the camera, but as long as 'z-targeting' and an intelligent camera were combined, additional control of the camera might not even be required. It would of course mean re-designing the whole game, but in my opinion that wouldn't be such a bad thing.

I think it has to be black or white, one or the other, Batman or Superman.

I only see red, neither makes sense, and I don't read comic books.

You really need to get rid of that Virtual Boy at some point man. I know you're attached to it and all, but it's starting to colour your view on the world.

The fact of the matter is that the traditional theory failed to take into consideration the nuances and complexities of globalisation, while the supposed 'new theory' is only useful in so far as it can be applied as a criticism. The new theory is not normative, it doesn't actually provide us with a set of applicable and encompassing rules. In other words it's severely limited.

Only through dialectic analysis can we formulate a workable solution to these problems.

I am with James on Spirit Tracks though. That game had some really great dungeons.

Got this for 1 dollar among other ten or so games.

I also picked this up for a dollar in the recent Humble Bundle.

I had always suspected I would like this game, but even I was surprised by just how much it grabbed me. Great art, great music, and great design. Highly recommended.

What ticks me off is we are going to have yet ANOTHER empty city in the Arkham series. That is lame.

We have not seen anything from the game itself yet. How could you possibly make such a statement?

For all we know it could be a lavishly detailed and densely populated Gotham city.

Personally? I've had enough of this polemical debate. That's why I adhere to the 'third way', a synthesis of both theories.

Its nice to be able to make Goals.

It's even nicer to be capable of exceeding them.

159
Not to be a d***, but if I had to choose one game I really don't want to see a sequel to it would Kid Icarus: Uprising.

I'm still confident that History with prove me correct. That game is terrible.

The whole "not really challenging unless you're going for 100%" thing is true of all the Yoshi's Island games. In fact, apart from the mentions of specific new features most of what's written here would apply to the SNES and DS games.

Which is exactly why New Island has never interested me. At best it's likely to be a good version of one of those games and I don't even particularly like the SNES original. So, In fairness to New Island it never really had a shot with me.

I do hope, however, that it scratches that itch for those who like the Yoshi's Island games.

The original was an ok game, but remains the only WiiWare game I have purchased but never finished.

Where's my Nyxquest sequel and Lost Winds threequel? Those games would kick ass on the Gamepad.

Mario and Luigi: Dream Team

The opening 5 hours of this game have been very slow. I'm enjoying the aesthetic and there have been a few chuckles, but I really wish the complexity of the mechanics had been doled out quicker. The game clearly acknowledges that people might already have experience with the series, as evidenced by the fact that it allows you to skip certain tutorials, it's just a shame that Alphadream did not take this idea a step further by allowing experienced players to jump in at the deep end.

Seems like an enjoyable game though.

Amazing episode gentlemen.

It was a real treat to have Garnett on the show. He's a great guest.

The idea of having the RFN crew together in a recording studio is simply awesome! I don't care how, but we need to make that happen. Kickstarter perhaps?

I've now 100% Guacamelee. One thing I really enjoyed about the game is that the really difficult stuff (which in my opinion also tended to be the most interesting stuff) is all largely optional. There are stages which riff on Mega Man, others which push the wall running and wall jumping mechanics to levels which are simply crazy, and there are even stages which require such a deft use of the combat mechanics that it raises the game to a level of complexity that might never be appreciated otherwise.

In the pantheon of Super Metroid-inspired adventure games, Guacamelee is definitely one of the better ones.

I also just started playing Papo & Yo, a game I always found intriguing. So far the puzzles have been pretty easy but also quite interesting. The way in which Papo interacts with the environment and the way that scale has been utilised by the game are really neat, and there are mechanics in there that I'm very much interested to see develop further.

Definitely a game I want to put more time into.

Here's a good one for just games in general, anything that's so obscure it requires a guide to get or complete.  A lot of RPG and Adventure games, especially older ones that have at least one area, sidequest, or item that is literally impossible for the average person to find on their own.

It's one thing to have secrets or curtain puzzles that they want to challenge the player but if the game doesn't at least give one hint at some of these things, how the **** is anyone suppose to do them?  It's not really a challenge if you make it so the player has to go to Gamefaqs to do it because the game itself makes it impossible to do.

Totally with you. I dislike anything in a game that causes me to put the controller down, but referring to a guide in order to proceed is perhaps my least favourite. I'm reasonably perseverant and won't let a little bit of frustration ruin a game for me, but if I'm consistently having to put the controller down in order to refer to something outside of the game then I rapidly lose interest.

Having to reference a guide annoys me most, however, when it's a good game. If it's a bad game then I either want to get through it as quickly as possible, in which case a guide is welcome, or I don't want to continue playing it, in which case a guide isn't necessary. If it's an otherwise enjoyable game though, the fact that I've found it necessary to put the controller down in order to read an (invariably poorly written) FAQ is a real bummer.

That's partly why I found La Mulana so agonising. There was an awesome game in there somewhere, but the obtuse design just killed my enjoyment.

I'm sure Nintendo wishes this past year never happened.

Therefore I propose Nintendo announce that 2014 is the year of Luigi.

Have a Guinness on me Luigi!

I've just put about 4 hours into Guacamelee and am finding it really addictive so far. Occasionally the combat has been a little frustrating (particularly when dealing with the colour-coded enemies) but you eventually unlock so many abilities and become so manoeuvrable that this is the exception rather than the rule.

The art and music in the game are equally stunning.

I was actually in the mood to play a Metroid-style game and was considering picking up Strider, but I suspect Guacamelee is the stronger offering. Highly recommended.
