TalkBack / Re: Gold Nunchuk on US Club Nintendo
« on: August 09, 2012, 02:42:31 PM »
Great, I pretty much have to register every game I own to get this!  I usually like to save them up in case I dont get enough to reach platinum the following year.

But look at the competition in 2006: Yoshi's Island DS, Kirby Squeak Squad, Daxter (PSP), Mega Man Powered Up (PSP). I might be missing one or two, but in that time, 2D platformers were mostly doomed to portables, and in the four I mentioned, I only think one of them (Mega Man) is a good game.

Daxter was a 3D platformer, was it not?

TalkBack / Re: Tales Characters Could Appear in Super Smash Bros.
« on: August 08, 2012, 12:54:59 PM »
It is for this reason that I really want skins to be a part of the next smash bros.

Why make Dr. Mario a clone of mario when you can just re-skin him (and his projectile)?

This way you could have a generic(generic meaning similar movesets) tales character, maybe lloyd, and then reskin him as Luke from abyss.  Two tales characters, one moveset, makes more fants happy.

This does not mean I personally want tales characters in the game, but if you did it, I'd rather it be one that can have different skins than to have multiple tales characters to make more fans happy.

Googol is the mathematical term, meaning 10^100.  Google is the company name.  That is all :)

It's remarkable how many games      Pedro      and I like and played as kids.  He even chose      Wii Party      on the same Radio Trivia that I requested it!  I guess the fact that I was born in      Puerto Rico      probably shaped my tastes in games as well.

TalkBack / Re: Planet Crashers 3D Review
« on: July 26, 2012, 03:34:53 PM »
Is it worth TEN dollars though?  I'd be way more likely to buy it if it were 4.99 or so.  Maybe I'll wait for it to be on a weekend sale.

I look forward to your reviews!

I'm definitely getting mole mania, and maybe wario down the road, but i'd really like to know if Planet crashers is worth it.

TalkBack / Re: Wii Out of Stock at Multiple Online Retailers
« on: July 26, 2012, 01:28:33 PM »
Are they going to go the way of Microsoft and totally and immediately kill off Wii in an attempt to bolster sales of Wii U, or will they go the way of Sony and have the Wii be a steady source of income at a 99.99 price range for the next 3+ years?

I'd bet on the Sony method, personally.

Once again, thank you so much for the timestamps.  This is great for your podcast since you have so many different topics.

Pretty sure Ono still works for capcom.  Maybe you're thinking about his recent illness that had him out of work for a few months, or maybe you're thinking of Seth Killian, the guy who just left for super bot games, the makers of sony all-stars.

TalkBack / Re: Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Review
« on: July 09, 2012, 11:59:02 AM »
Is it worth 39.99 though?  Should I wait for it to go on sale on amazon later this year?  I kinda want some of the DLC, so paying 60+ for a game I'll play casually seems a bit much.  What benefits are there of me getting it now vs later?

Edit - sorry, didn't mean to sound so cynical.  Love the review, and it reinforces that I *WANT* this game, I just dont know if I want to spend too much on this game, considering I will be buying DLC.

Awesome guys!   Thanks for the timestamps!  You guys rock!

Perhaps downloadable mansions after the main story? It would definitely extend the replay value of the game

Oh god, additional DLC mansions... *drool

TalkBack / Re: Japanese Ice Climber Update Includes Download Play
« on: July 05, 2012, 03:58:09 PM »
That is so cool.  I hate ice climbers, but i'd love this to be included in the other NES games that use multiplayer.  Gives me great hope for more virtual console stuff/pokemon.

TalkBack / Re: Swapnote Updated to Feature Additional Colors
« on: July 05, 2012, 01:31:20 PM »
I agree with UB. This is almost definitely a technical limitation with the fact that it plays a replay of the drawing and doesn't just transmit the image.

You can see evidence of it in how erasing is handled on the replay, the way it doesn't play back the strokes, instead just neglecting to draw there.

Still, it seems like there should be some way to solve that problem...

If it can transfer a whole picture and 5 second sound file via street pass, it can handle a variable change.  I'd assume it's because of the original design it was not designed to make any changes while 'streaming' the video of the drawing, but it's definitely not a memory limitation.  They'd likely have to re-structure the code which they're not willing to do.

« on: July 05, 2012, 11:53:49 AM »
That's clearly a design decision and not a limitation of the hardware, which is why it baffles me.  I like to draw on swapnote and it's really hard to do certain stuff without color.

The music genre is one of the few instances where I feel like DLC is totally justified and acceptable.

Great show!  You guys are so dedicated!

If I may add some input regarding the external hard drive for Wii U:  You can make more than one partition on the hard drive.  Have a set amount of space for whatever it is you're using it for, and then use the rest of the space for a second partition for the Wii U.  If the Wii U requires a special partition, it should automatically pick up on it when you plug it in.

Wow, I might actually pick up vvvvvv now.  I have it on steam already, so I felt it was a bit much to pay 8 bucks for a game I already own.  I'll contemplate picking up the 3DS version now.

Headline made me think he applied for an open position and they chose someone better.   Glad to know it's because they werent looking for any composers at the moment.

If I may leave a minor suggestion for your podcast...
I listen to these podcasts at work on my computer (I'm not allowed to bring an mp3 player into work...), so I don't have Itunes/etc. to divide chapters/segments on a podcast.  I have to listen to it from the site.  Would it be possible to add timestamps to the different segments, in case I want to skip one?  For example I'm already sold on pokemon conquest and don't want spoilers, but I'd love to listen to listener mail.  If this is too much work, don't worry about it, I'm probably in the vast minority of readers who would use it.  So don't do it just for me!

Anyway, keep up the great show!

TalkBack / Re: Far Cry 3 Delay Paves Way for Wii U Release?
« on: June 25, 2012, 01:03:03 PM »
Has far cry ever been a system seller?
Serious question:  Is there anyone out there who wants far cry 3 so bad they'd be willing to buy a whole new console to play the WiiU version first, or to play the "better" version of it?

I understand that more AAA games (Especially at launch) can help any system, i'm just wondering if this game is even in the 'system seller' category.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 295: Too Many Bones
« on: June 25, 2012, 11:38:01 AM »
As far as the motion plus support goes, I think nintendo needs to make it mandatory that all WiiU titles use motion plus.  If this is not done, motion plus support will be optional and will divide the market, meaning a smaller install base and less games developed using motion plus.  This needs to be a requirement akin to the way microsoft made "HD" and achievements requirements for any title developed for the xbox.  You dont want to split your userbase or the feature will get looked over by 3rd party devs.  This is why accessories typically fail.  You can't split the marketplace.

TalkBack / Re: Namco Bandai Working With Sakurai On Next Smash Bros.
« on: June 21, 2012, 11:30:15 PM »
I'm ok with pac-man, especially as their new 'retro' character (game & watch, R.O.B), but there isn't much else in the namco universe I want in my smash brothers.  Anything more and it teeters closer to a nintendo vs. game.  I dunno.
