TalkBack / Re: China Temporarily Lifts Console Ban
« on: January 08, 2014, 12:14:37 PM »
The plug and play device you mentioned was actually the "iQue Player". "iQue" is simply the name of Wei Yen's and Nintendo's joint subsidiary for distributing Nintendo products for the Chinese market, not the name of any particular product. All Nintendo products in China are actually distributed under the iQue brand.

"Princess Rosalina & Lum"? First off, it's Luma. Secondly, Rosalina has never been established as being a princess.

By metroid 4 im talking about a mainline console metroid.  Not a handheld sequal.

I'm pretty sure what you actually meant was Metroid Prime 4. Metroid Fusion IS a mainline cannon Metroid, regardless of being handheld (same as Metroid II). It's important to note that the Metroid Prime series was always presented as its own mini-series, not part of the mainline.

Whoever wrote this article claiming Link's design is similar to Skyward Sword's needs to take a closer look. The enemies are based off Skyward Sword, but most of Link's design is definitely based off the Twilight Princess model, not Skyward Sword's.

TalkBack / Re: Rosalina and Luma Playable in Next Super Smash Bros.
« on: December 18, 2013, 12:49:47 PM »
I did not see this coming. Villager, WFT, and now her and Luma. These guys did not fit into my speculation chart at all.
I actually did see the AC Villager coming, and though I exactly didn't see the Wii Fit Trainer coming per se, I wasn't really shocked when she was revealed. Rosalina on the other hand, does seem to have come out of left field and doesn't seem like a very logical character choice. Either they had a great idea for a new fighter moveset design and were just desperate to find a character to fit it (like the Ice Climbers), or they're just getting desperate for female characters to fit into the roster.

Cranky Kong is the titular character's GRANDFATHER, not father.

TalkBack / Re: Wii Party U Will Not Be Sold Through the eShop
« on: October 24, 2013, 12:19:09 PM »
They may "say" it won't be available on the eShop, but I have a feeling what this really means is that it merely won't be available to the general public on the eShop. Keep in mind, Wii Play Motion was intitially the same say-- it was only available at retail bundled with the Wii Remote Plus, but if you had previously had Wii Sports Resort registered through Club Nintendo, you were given the special option of being able to order the cheaper stand-alone copy (obviously, full Wii games weren't available via download). I'm guessing they'll likely be doing the same thing again, and since it's cheaper for them not to have to produce physical copies if they don't have to, a special download code will be offered instead.

Having all three versions of SFII priced the same ridiculous enough since each subsequent one made the previous one obsolete... but actually offering a "triple dip discount" is a blatant scam since there's absolutely NO benefit to owning any version other than "Super", let alone all three together.

TalkBack / Re: Olimar Will Be in the New Smash Bros.
« on: July 13, 2013, 10:37:25 AM »
I didn't think Olimar would be cut, especially with Pikmin 3 out soon.

Odd... Considering that he isn't in it, I would have thought it far more logical to suspect Pikmin 3's release would hurt Olimar's chances to return (in lieu of one of the new characters). But it's nice to see that won't be the case.

But isn't that still easy enough to bypass by just changing your country setting?

The next rumored characters are Little Mac, PacMan and the obligatory "Mii". There's a Punch-Out (Wii) boxing ring in the trailer video. Mac is a metaphysical certainty.

You do realize we're discussing DKC: Tropical Freeze, not Super Smash Bros.?

162
My prediction: Little Mac

DK was in Punch-Out!! afterall.. :-P

163
Khushrenada, Donkey Kong Jr. is the current Donkey Kong so he already is in the game.  But then if any company would screw up and forget that detail, Nintendo would be it. :)

Actually, Cranky Kong is the current Donkey Kong's GRANDfather (look it up). So modern DK is "Donkey Kong, III". DK Jr. would be modern DK's father, who has yet to appear in the DKC series... So as long as he's updated to be an adult, his inclusion as an additional character would NOT be a mistake.

But you do sorta have a point, as they DID screw it up once in the past and mistakenly called modern DK Cranky's son in DK64 (but you could always argue that Cranky is senile and just got confused). Nintendo has otherwise been consistent with their relationship as grandfather and grandson in all subsequent games, so they're likely aware of it enough not to overlook it again.

TalkBack / Re: Wii Fit U Female Trainer Added to Next Smash Bros.
« on: June 11, 2013, 07:29:05 PM »
This shouldn't be seen as such an oddball choice after you consider what a massive success Wii Fit was, and how important a franchise it now is. Just like with the Animal Crossing Villager, they're clearly making sure to represent all their big name franchises with playable fighters (I wouldn't be entirely shocked to see Dr. Kawashima from Brain Age either at this point.) I am a little surprised by the actual choice of representative-- I would have assumed they would have gone with the Wii Balance Board character, but she/he/it does appear alongside her in the video so will likely still be used somehow in her move set.

165
Won't there be some sort of connectivity between them? There might still be a reason to get both.
They were very clear about connectivity very early on.. so as long as they have the same character lineup, it's a somewhat fair assumption that the 3DS version will enable 3DS users to connect and play with local Wii U sessions using the 3DS as if it were an additional GamePad. But, I'm a little curious about the wording used-- "same number of characters" isn't necessarily the same as the same lineup of characters...

166
So they haven't revealed an official title? We went from 'Melee' to 'Brawl' to ... ?

Mega Man, yes!

Says who? They showed logos-- the official titles ARE: "Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS" and "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U". Granted, I wouldn't at all be shocked if the titles do get changed, but at the same time there's no reason to automatically assume they will, especially considering Nintendo's recent trend of title simplification. Until we hear otherwise, these apparently are the official names.

TalkBack / Re: Satoru Iwata Named CEO of Nintendo of America
« on: April 24, 2013, 01:27:38 PM »
My gut tells me nothing will change.
My head tells me this is a stupid move and Iwata is taking off far more than he can chew.
My heart dreams that this will mean we'll get more localized releases, more VC games, and more happiness.
My gut's likely on the money, my head is probably not far off, and my heart is full of ****.
I think you're overestimating the duties of this position. What this most likely REALLY is, is nothing more than removing a redundant middleman between Reggie and Iwata. In other words, it's an efficiency move that's little more than a change ON PAPER, and will actually simplify things for Iwata. Any REAL duties that were previously done by Kimishima, will now just be done directly by Reggie... At least that's how I'm interpreting it.

TalkBack / Re: Rumor: Majora's Mask Coming to 3DS
« on: April 17, 2013, 11:03:06 AM »
Wow. Fanboys bitch about making a new Zelda that changes the formula and brings something new to the table -- fanboys proceed to bitch that it was a part of the "formula". **** the formula. I want a completely revamped Zelda game. The comparison between SFA and MM is unfair because SFA is a bad game.

C'mon, SFA was NOT a bad game its own-- it would have been an instant classic if it had been released as "Dinosaur Planet". Trying to make it into a Starfox installment is what ruined it.

And again, I don't have any problem with MM-- I love it by itself-- but it's just not deserving of the same treatment that OoT got. ALttP, on the other hand IS deserving.

Funny.  It's one of my favorite Zelda games and reminds me a lot of Link's Awakening (which is my all-time favorite Zelda game).

For as much crap as Nintendo gets for rehashing the same ideas, they sure do get a lot of crap when they try something different (Zelda II, Majora's Mask...)

Even Zelda II deserved the "Zelda" name by using the basic overworld+dungeon formula. The only thing "Zelda" about Majora's Mask was that it was built-off the OoT engine. It was a brilliant idea, but didn't deserve the "Zelda" name-- because it was more of its own game. Basically, MM is to Zelda as Starfox Adventures was to Starfox.

And I am not even gonna mention how bad MM is, and why it doesn't deserve a re-make.

MM may not be "bad" on its own merits, but it IS bad as a Zelda installment. It would have been brilliant if it were released as a stand alone game with original characters, but as part of the Zelda series, it didn't work and definitely doesn't deserve the same remake treatment OoT got.

TalkBack / Re: Several Online Wii Channels Shutting Down in June

Too bad. Even know when I use my Wii, I'll still take a look at the Weather Channel. Guess come June, I'll just delete it since it will be of no use anymore.

I'm pretty sure that and the News Channel are undeletable...

A whole game that looks like the American boxart from 80s-- thank God this never saw the day of light... This brings back memories of that horrible mature Bomberman Konami made a few years back... *shutters*

TalkBack / Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D: An Unnecessary Remake
« on: February 19, 2013, 10:04:59 AM »
This article: An unnecessary commentary. Seriously, this article pretty much said absolutely nothing whatsoever-- you might have well have written article saying: "the sky is blue... generally, but other times it's gray... yet at night it's black." Also, you should need to learn the proper terminology. A "remake" new game that's simply based on an older concept. This is a "port"-- it's the same game just being released on a different platform-- there's absolutely no confusing the difference between the two here-- this is most definitely a PORT.

The fact that this won't have waggle to roll controls ALONE might make this the definitive version of the game.
Um... did they actually say it wouldn't? The 3DS does have gyro-tilt sensors, so it's hardly safe to make that assumption. Just sayin'...
