Exactly- the guy's faster than Superman for crying out loud, and with such incredible speed comes heightened senses. He's going to see someone trying to trip him up long before they actually do- you don't become the 3rd entry into a legacy without learning a few tricks of the trade. I'd appreciate it if they made the Flash seem more human instead of a clumsy jerk- when you have to rely on one character for comic relief, you've got a problem. Comedy should be equally distributed and shouldn't rest soley on the shoulders of one person. And the odd thing is, the Superman and Batman shows did this so well.

It's great and all that Nintendo makes a larger profit than Sony or MS, but that by no means they would have nothing to gain from being number 1 again- MORE sales means MORE profit. There's nothing wrong with that. Don't use the profits ploy as an excuse for Nintendo underperforming.

I love the discord that's always present between Batman and Superman- despite fighting for the same thing, they always seem to butt heads. I was dissapointed that Green Lantern and the Flash were completely left out of the episode, though (and they bashed the Flash, no less). You know, they've done a character specific episode for just about every character except for the Flash- I understand he's the comic relief and all, but they could at least have some character development for god's sake.

Not so- you forgot many other factors that affect piracy's impact, namely the increase of sales and the general move towards disabling piracy. As software and hardware sales increase, pirating becomes less and less of a problem in it's current state since piracy takes away a smalelr and smaller percentage of games sales. On top of that companies are working AGAINST pirating- I believe it was only until recently that anyone was able to pirate Gamecube games and even then barely anybody does it. Nintendo will have released it's next console before it becomes easy to pirate Cube games. As more and more companies impliment procedures like these pirating will become harder and harder until only the geekiest of geeks actually pirate console games- it simply isn't worth the time or effort for the rest of us, who will continue buying games rather than copying them. Mark my word- pirating will NEVER bring down this industry.

Oh I still buy videogames, lecter- being such a devoted hobbiest I prefer to have original, actual copies of my games. I don't dabble in ROMs or copied games or anything like that.

ANYWAY, if you can indeed play copied games on this GP32, I'm surprised it's producer hasn't been sued or something. I'm sure Nintendo and other companies alike don't like the idea of a machine you can buy to play their games for free. Maybe they've found some sort of loophole.

Nintendo Gaming / Did anyone notice something at the end of MF?
« on: July 05, 2003, 06:47:58 PM »
That's an interesting prospect- I've beaten MF twice but I never really paid attention to the ending credits music. I'll listen closer next time, but I'm not quite sure what LttP's ending music sounds like either since it's been a while since I beat it. Good find, though.

It seems everyone here has taken one extreme or the other. YES Nintendo has problems- if they do indeed know how to reclaim the top spot again, they're not showing it. NO Nintendo is not in trouble- they'll be around for a very long time even at this rate. They're doing at least as good as MS is with the XBox but you don't here any spellings of doom there. Very few people are dissapointed with the Gamecube- most people who bought the console did it knowing they loved Nintendo's games and Nintendo has actually spoiled us in that regard. The few that are dissapointed just don't like Nintendo's style, and most of the people who don't like Nintendo's style knew so before the Gamecube and didn't even purchase one. Although this article does raise a few good points it seems it's just hitching a ride on the bash-Nintendo bandwagon in hopes of getting bandwith (which it obviously did). Bottom line is Nintendo's not doing bad but they could be doing a LOT better- whether or not they know how do better, or whether they even care, has yet to be seen.

What exactly is your point? Obviously pirating exists, I'm not saying it doesn't, and obviously the bigger companies lose the most. All I'M saying is that pirating in general isn't bringing down the industry no matter what the industry would like you to believe. I'm not saying you SHOULD pirate, but those claiming Microsoft is doomed because someone figured out how to pirate XBox games are stupid. Really we should be on the same side here, Ymeegod.

Nintendo Gaming / This is why I like synthesized music.
« on: July 05, 2003, 05:58:35 PM »
Remember Mike Roch who used to frequent the boards? Now he had some amazingly good synthesized stuff he made- this guy was incredible. I don't think I've seen him since PGC switched boards, but I have all his stuff burned onto a CD so I can listen to it whenever I want to, which is quite often.

Cartoon Network shows reruns of Justice League weekdays at 4 PM eastern- tonight was a special deal.

I'm not a big fan of Kim Possible at all, but The Fairly Oddparents is pretty good- certainly the best out fo Nickalodean in a long time. My personal favorites are Loony Tunes, Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, Futurama, Freakazoid- the greats. The Brave Little Toaster is a great movie- unfortunatly I missed it today. I think Toon Disney has been showing it a lot lately, so hopefully I can catch it again.

Nintendo Gaming / Rareware
« on: July 05, 2003, 05:42:27 PM »
I've had problems with dillusionals still thinking Nintendo owned the rights to many of Rare's games- they're WRONG. True, Nintendo published the titles but Rare owns the rights to them and has taken advantage of those rights. A Conker game, Perfect Dark game, and Banjo game are all in the work for the XBox, among others. Nintendo retained Dionkey Kong and Star Fox since neither were created by Rare. I hope nobody actually believes we'll see Kameo or Banjo or something on the Gamecube because it won't happen.

Has anyone been watching this show on Cartoon Network? An excellent action cartoon from the creator of the Superman and Batman animated series (both of which were superb). MUCH better than the old Superfriend shows, and with a good selection of heros, too, although they fudged the comics a little. For one, they have Hawkgirl instead of Hawkman, presumably to have more female heros than just Wonder Woman. Their Green Lantern iteration is also Jon Stewart, to even out the whole race issue, although the current Green Lantern, and by far the bes, is Kyle Rayner. On top of all that they've turned the Flash (my personal favorite hero) into a jerk who's always the one who screws everything up. Aside from those minor squabbles, though, it's a great show. Cartoon Network finally started showing new episodes starting today with a 2 parter that's been very good so far.

It's no more than a splinter, ymeegod- look at the figures. Any major game publisher complaining about pirating is likle Bill Gates complaining he lost a $100 bill- it may seem like a lot to us, but it's pocket change to them (at that INCLUDES Nintendo). The truth is, not enough people pirate games to make it that much of a problem. No one's going to fail because games are being pirated. Besides, I read somewhere it's extremely easy for Microsoft to make this little technique impossible. Pirating is still bad, but it's not as big a problem as some people would lead you to believe.

Because Seg had a string of failed consoles all in a row and very few people actually wanted to buy a Dreamcast for fear it would die a couple years later almost devoid of any games. Besides that Sega was too quirky for the mainstream, and both those factors drove sales into the ground. The PS2 hype was the final nail in the coffin, but Sega was doomed to failure anyway, and NOT because of pirating.

Nintendo Gaming / Too Human?

"Give me one good reason why a 8GB disc is a huge neccessity."

Exactly- on top of the fact no game this generation has even approached 8 gigabytes, with the increase in graphical quality, less and less FMV is going to be used, which takes up most of the space on those gigantic games, and the little FMV that is used will be compressed with technology like DivX (haven't I said this already?). I actually see game size going down fairly soon, although a disc bigger than 1.5 gigs would be optimal, but one that's 8 gigs is absurd.

I think it's wrong to download music, too, but I'm not about to pay $18 for a CD that has 8 or 9 songs on it- no way, no how. I'll buy CD's that are actually worth the price, but if the music industry wants to stop people from downloading music, make the advantage of it much smaller and people will start buying more CD's. I'm not amde of money, and what I do have goes into videogames since that's an expensive hobby as it is.

Misinformation? All I've said are my opinions, except in this instance, where the colors DO look washed out- even you admitted it.

Alright, let's stop our little feud here- it's pointless to argue over the internet. We'll only look like bigger geeks than we already are. I'll stop offering up my misinformed opinion on the SP if you stop bashing me every chance you get. Truce?

Why should I admit I was wrong when I'm not? Pirating simply does NOT take that big of a chunk out of console gaming sales- all those articles saying it does are just propoganda to get people to stop doing it. The money lost each year to pirating is pocket change compared to how much is made, and the simple fact of the matter is that pirating did NOT kill the Dreamcast. Like I said, most owners of the console didn't take the time to modify their Dreamcast to play games because buying them wasn't a hassle at all.

"the dreamcast stop producing games becuase they thought it was pointless, which it was. "

Developers stopped making Dreamcasr games because they weren't selling because NO ONE OWNED A DREAMCAST. Sony's PS2 hype killed the Dreamcast- barely antyone bought a Dreamcast because they were waiting for a PS2, and THAT'S why the Dreamcast failed, not beause of a collection of gaming nerds without girlfriends who think they're being rebels by burning games instead of buying them. Face facts- pirating did not kill the Dreamcast. It may have been a problem, but it's not what was the ultimate cause of the Dreamcast's failure and Sega's end as a console maker. When did you guys get this crap in your heads?

Look, if pirating really does make consoles die, why is the PSX the best selling home console of all time when it was easy as hell to pirate games on it? Doesn't make sense, does it?

Acclaim- I knew it was one of those two.

Can't buy it online- no shipping's great on all, and I'd love to buy it online, but my parents have this huge credit card debt and won't buy anything that requires one for a looooooooong time.
