General Chat / You know you have a problem when...

actually to tell you the truth.I was always supposed to be lactose intolerant...however..i drank milk as a kid...no problems. Now that im older though it actually effects me....

the same can be said for cats.....they love milk..but after the first year they should be lactose intolerant.....ahh sigh...

Actually, that's true for ALL animals, and is true with normal humans. The way all animals work is during their year/s of infancy they drink milk from their mother. Once they've stopped growing they become lactose intolerant and stop drinking milk. You see, milk actually has just as many things that leach bone mass as add to it- you're not supposed to drink it afterl you're through growing. However, the group of humans most of us are descendants of today had a genetic defect that stopped them from becoming lactose intolerant when they became older. You, my friend, are actually normal- it's all of us who can digest milk and dairy products our whole lives that are the odd ones out.

Grey Ninja- I hope your new job pays enough for you to not have to do anything so desperate again, man. I'm lucky enough to live with my parents and get an allowance, so I never have to choose between gaming and eating. If  WERE you, though, I wouldn't buy games for a looooong time and save up that money you've been spending on it- gaming is not a poor man's hobby. Once you're financially secure you can buy all the games you wanted at very low prices since they're all old. You can borrow games until then.

Link's up now- I didn't put in one originally because I was worried it would be thought of as advertising (as if the site needed it). Just letting rick and Bloodworth and all you other admins out there know I'm not advertising.

Oh, and read the hate mail! It's hilarious- he even has a mock court trial against him complete with fake MSNBC pages.

Ikaruga's great, but it's made by Treasure, not Nintendo.

Nintendo Gaming / IKARUGA! HOW MANY HAVE IT
« on: July 12, 2003, 04:57:41 PM »
Ikaruga's friggin' awesome- I can't get past the 4th level yet, either, but I only have a couple more hours of play time to get infinite continues.

Has anyone ever been to this website? It's supposed to be a 10 year old's slightly off website about ninjas- it's probably the funniest thing on the internet. Obviously it's all a joke, but it never fails to invoke side splitting laughter on my part. The best part is committing seppuku- hahahahahahaha. It's funny how many people think he's serious, too.

Nintendo Gaming / How many Links are there??
« on: July 12, 2003, 03:28:52 PM »
I think the alternate timeline theory is the one Miyamoto himself actually says is true- I personally haven't decided which is true, but I think the one timeline with multiple Links theory is much more intruiging and epic.

NWR Feedback / Server Problems?

I guess that's the problem- even on DSL it still takes a few seconds for the page to load and I usually don't like to wait that long.

If you play all 3 paths, you get a cut-scene that basically explains how each path fits together and answers some questions you'll probably have about the story. It's very informative and a real treat to anyone that likes the story.

Nintendo Gaming / N's new code name revealed?
« on: July 12, 2003, 12:12:10 PM »
If you ask me, Nintendo Entertainment System has to be the stupidest name for a console ever- don't get me wrong, I loved my NES to death, I've always liked more creative names (someting Sega's always done). I hope Nintendo comes up with an entirely original name for their next console and that this N5 NES5 stuff are just codenames.

"What does this forum think of M$'s codenamed Xbox 2 being Xenon?"

If they want to name it a gas, that's up to them- I'm just glad it won't be the XBox 2,

Nintendo Gaming / How many Links are there??
« on: July 12, 2003, 12:04:27 PM »
Even if you don't believe there's a timeline, the question still pertains to how many alternate Links are there among the alternate timelines. Each new Link can be considered an alternate timeline or the next Link in the same timeline.

Nintendo Gaming / The PS3 WILL release on schedule.
« on: July 12, 2003, 12:01:42 PM »
Everyone should remember that specs don't matter- I don't buy the console with the most RAM.

Anyway, this is good news for Sony, but then again it IS their RAM manufacturer making this statement and they ARE pretty much guessing, so it can't really be considered official.

The Oracle games could involve the same Link as LoZ and AoL, though- I'm not quite sure if it's an entirely different story.

Nintendo Gaming / WWE Wrestlemania XIX
« on: July 12, 2003, 08:16:33 AM »
Yukes is still maknig the game, but they're made up of most of Aki's old team.

The game is getting hyped up for a number of reasons- one, like some have said, is that it harkens back to the N64 wrestling games, like Revenge and No Mercy, which are widely considered to be the best ever. The game also has the feature where you can target specific areas of the body and they'll show damage- for instance, you can do a ton of moves on a guy's leg and eventually he'll start limping around the ring. There's also the story mode which encompasses three decidedly non-wrestling locations (mall, construction site, boat dock). True there's nothing revolutionary that's going to make you crap your pants, but it is shaping up to be one of the best wrestlers in a while (at least better than Raw). Besides, it's a Gamecube exclusive wrestler- what do you expect Gamecube owners to do?

Odd- I've played OoT at least 6 times, MM 3 times, SM64 3 times (twice actually getting all 120 stars), SMS twice, Wind Waker twice, Metroid Prime twice, and I've dropped at least 120 hours into SSBM- I think they have plenty of replay value.

NWR Feedback / Server Problems?

I don't have a cordless desktop, and the only cellular phone we have is a floor above my computer on the side of the house. I do have a laser mouse, though, that's had some problems before. The problem only happens on PGC, though- never when I replying to emails or typing in URLs or writing in Word.

I have another problem that recently cropped up- sometimes while I'm writing posts the cursor will sudennly jump back up the line I'm writing and everything I was supposed to be typing at the end is mysteriously in the middle. If I'm posting a new thread sometimes the cursor will jump to the topic line. It rarely ever happens but it's really annoying when it does.

General Chat / mouse_clicker's Short Story
« on: July 11, 2003, 10:39:27 AM »
I don't think catching the reader at the beginning is cliche, just the way that it's usually done, ie a big action scene or something. I usually try to find other ways to get the reader interested and not all of them work. A lot of times I'll try to get the reader's curiosity going by intentionally not telling them what they want to know or by making the scope seem much grander.

I don't usually sit down and write stories- this one is the evolution of one I wrote in an early 8th grade creative writing class. I have a bunch of ideas racing about my head but I rarely take the time to actually write them down.

That doesn't mean you don't advertise at all- you're acting like it was doomed from the start. An ideal advertisement would start saying "For two millenia an ancient evil has been plotting the demise of mankind and 12 people must stop them, before they go INSANE! From the makers of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain comes the most epic game you will ever play- Eternal Darkness. Only for Nintendo Gamecube"- all the while they'll be showing shots of the FMV and zombies and various other monsters getting destroyed. If there were any reviews I'd include some quotes from them as well.

That happened to me too- I wasn't too intent on reading the whole thing, but the writing just pulls you in and won't let go of you until the very end. It's obvious why that guy wrote a book.

What do you mean Golden Sun isn't well loved by RPG players? It's considered the best RPG on the GBA and one of the best period. I still think Mast Cheif will win, though- the average gamer knows Halo, but probably doesn't know Golden Sun or anyone in it. And considering that Ness is losing and Earthbound is considered by many to be THE best RPG ever, I don't think Felix will win.

Exactly, Ian- Eternal Darkness commercials only aired real late at night on channels no one watched a total of like 3 times. I'm SURE if the general public knew about the game it would've sold a lot better. I don't think I've met anyone who actually didn't like it.

Underrated? No- it got rave reviews. Hardly anypne bought it, though, which is really a shame because it's easily one of my favorite games ever. I REALLY hope Silicon Knights makes a sequel- I want the rest of the story, Denis!

"It's still fraud because he made the bank believe that the check was real and that he was entitles to the money. That is fraud. Depositing into his account is in a way endorsing because he is claiming the money."

But it WAS a real check- if you read the whole thing he explains extensively all the laws explaining as much. For all intents and purpouses he eally did recieve a check in the mail for $95,000 (since the non-negotiable doesn't necessarily make a check fake). He didn't even expect it to deposit- he didn't even sign the thing for crying out loud- he put a little smiley face on the back. If anything he was making it even more obvious to the bank that it shouldn't work.

And it is real- read his little FAQ at the end of page ten- he even tells you how you can look it up.

There was a real story just like this.

You probably did hear about it- the guy said his story ran in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, he was on Dateline, NBC and ABC Nightly News, almost got on Leno and Letterman. It was probably overshadowed afterwards, though, but the O. J. Simpson court ruling.
