TalkBack / Re: Rhythm Thief Demo Missed Planned North American Release

We did get a demo last Thursday... for Pyramids.

Maybe this is the beginning of a repeat of Crush 3D...?

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 31: Connectivity Direct!

I'm none too happy with the trickle of eShop releases too. Sure, I'm getting a lot of use out of Colors! 3D and am considering Ketzal's Corridors, but I certainly would like more games releasing. The "Coming Soon" section of the eShop has roughly three 3DS Download games and one Virtual Console games, and I'm suspecting this could be on the docket for May's downloads (they all had a release date of TBD). So if Wario Land doesn't come on Thursday, it would be... weeks, if not months, before we finally get it.  :(

I'm really looking forward to New Super Mario Bros. 2 because I enjoyed the first two "New" games and it looks like it'll be more of the same good stuff. The Kirby anniversary bundle certainly has my intrigue and I look forward to what games will be included. I'm in a minority (so it seems) but I'm looking forward to Mario Tennis Open. I enjoyed the first two games and am really not that miffed over the lack of RPG/story modes. I played the hell out of Mario Tennis on N64, so this could be more of that good stuff.

My GOTY list looks like this so far:
1. Kid Icarus: Uprising (Fantastic in nearly every aspect, 60 hours in four weeks, guys!)
2. Dillon's Rolling Western (I adore this game, so much so that I beat every village with 5-star ratings.)
3. Resident Evil: Revelations (Very nicely done game and Raid Mode is good fun.)
4. Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword (It's growing on me, and I rather like its gameplay.)
5. Mutant Mudds (The heinous difficulty near the end soured me a bit, but the music and core game is great.)

I went back and tried the secret level you get for finishing everything else in the game. I'm not marking this as spoilers because I figure anyone here who's wanted to play the game has so...

The very last section when you press the switch that causes panels to spell "THANK YOU!!"... Was I the only idiot who tried to jump across said panels instead of taking the moving platform?

Given the number in the title that implies it's a direct sequel, what if Nintendo made this game balls hard like The Lost Levels? Well, maybe not that hard, but a difficult Mario game would be pretty rad. As in, get difficult halfway through the main quest and then get insane in the bonus worlds.

Like it or not, New Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. Wii both sold incredibly well. That trend could very well continue with this game.

As noted, there is no existing Kirby compilation, so Nintendo would actually have to put one together. This could be interesting...

Anyone a bit upset that Metroid's twenty fifth anniversary was completely ignored last year?

Interesting theory there, NinSage... I'm hoping for the best too.

Apparently, Sakurai said to tune in for Kid Icarus related things. the game's been out for over a month, and it does have the Nintendo Network stamp so maybe... DLC? This should be interesting.

I'm not really surprised that NoA's not doing an official Nintendo Direct, given how things have been lately? What with the eShop semi-drought (I only got Colors! 3D in the past month, but I've been thinking about Ketzal's Corridors...) and little info on games that everyone wants. Yet, I'm still interested in what could be said here...

Nintendo Gaming / Re: New "Nintendo Direct" tomorrow (4/20/2012)

More Game Boy Color games will be announced for Japan's eShop along with a bunch of retail games for the sole purpose of rubbing salt in the wound of North American 3DS owners.

Should be exciting!

You know what this game needs?

Board the Platforms. Or functioning online. Either one's good.

Ah. I'll have to be more thorough, then...

Anyway, I observe the following from the list:

People are okay with re-buying NES games.
Most of the eShop originals are Nintendo-published.
Dillon's Rolling Western being in the Top 10 after two months makes me happy.

The last Virtual Console games we got on the eShop were the three Game Gear games on March 15. Since then, it's been Zombie Slayer Diox (mediocre, by the sound of it), Arc Style Soccer 3D (supposedly bad), Colors! 3D (pretty darn great), and Ketzal's Corridors (the positive side of mixed).

The last Virtual Console game prior to Game Gear was Punch-Out!!: Featuring Mr. Dream on March 8. Last Game Boy game was Maru's Mission back in February. Maybe they'll realize a two month drought is long enough for now and give us Wario Land at long last?

Also, I'm not sure how credible this is, but Nintendo Everything posted the top-selling eShop games from several weeks ago:

1. Colors! 3D
2. Super Mario Bros.
3. Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
4. Metal Torrent
5. Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble
6. Pushmo
7. Cut The Rope
8. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX
9. Dillon’s Rolling Western
10. GO Series Undead Storm
11. 3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure
12. Plants vs. Zombies
13. Fun! Fun! Minigolf Touch!
14. Photo Dojo
15. Ketzal’s Corridors
16. Super Mario Land
17. Freakyforms: Your Creations, Alive!
18. Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
19. Bloons TD
20. Mario Clock

Weren't there rumors that the system would simply be called the "Nintendo" last year?

WAIT WAIT WAIT: Apparently GoNintendo shot this rumor down. False alarm, folks! (I think.)

The solution is obvious: put Miis into the next Smash Bros. as playable characters and anybody who doesn't like them can vent their disdain there.  ;D

Heck, it's near guaranteed that Wuhu Island will be in future games; it sneaked into Mario Kart 7 and Pilotwings Resort.

91
Anyone remember how word of a 3DS headset popped up a while back? Well, GoNintendo put up a rumor to add to that.

The local Walmart has a sign in the video game aisle that reads "Only one Skylanders game per customer." Then again, I see the game and many of the figures in stock so I suppose the rush has died down.

Until this holiday season. You could stock up now, wait until everything is sold out, and hock them all.

Maybe RFN will do another live event for charity the day before Wii U releases like they did last year for Skyward Sword. Remember that the last hour of the last event was basically somewhat-drunk talk of the Wii U.

It'd give the hosts an excuse to keep juicy private stories from the rest of us peasants.

Let's take a break from the speculation and watch this video.

I swallowed my pride and watched the latest episode, and my response is... Eh.

Sure, the production values are good, the plot was well-done (if a bit predictable), and there's a (expectantly contrived) moral for the kids ("If somebody tries to touch you in a place or in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, that's no good!") but I failed to see what others see in it. Maybe watching more will change that, but I'll get back to you.

I was hoping the train would get attacked by a giant black cloud monster.

There's certainly a lot of grass is greener syndrome for this game going around because of no RPG mode. I think that's to be expected because the RPGs always followed a console version, and we haven't had one of those in years.

However, I think what the game does have is shaping up nicely and I am definitely interested in it. The StreetPass integration sounds very nice, and it worked pretty well in Dead or Alive: Dimensions.

Any other week, I'd be a bit miffed at the lack of Virtual Console (more specifically, Wario Land) but I'm too busy with Colors! 3D to really notice it.
