Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 229: Unicron-Approved
« on: January 31, 2011, 10:56:19 AM »
Yeah, this show certainly seems more professional than a lot of other ones I've listened to. Multiplatform gamers but you're not completely biased towards one particular console and you can validate your opinions quite well.

I played Crystal Bearers for a few hours and I felt it was alright. Was not compelled to keep playing for whatever reason but it was alright. I tried out the demo of Dead Space 2 and it wasn't entirely to my liking but I may give it another go soon.

Also, I'm surprised no one brought up Chrono Trigger when Jon was talking about his backlog. That one's been on there for ages it seems.

And of course, I enjoyed the segment on the "Nontendo" GOTY discussions. Certainly does summarize my thoughts on it quite well.

I went 2 for 5 this time. Haven't played Game 2 but I have heard the soundtrack. So when the first song came on, it took me a few moments to remember that I had heard this recently. As for Game 3, it took less than 5 seconds for me to recognize it. Nice round, overall.

Good work, Neal. I'm sure you'll be great at the position.  :D

And of course, hat's off to Jon as well.

I'm tempted to pick up a 3DS on launch day even if I don't pre-order one. Might be worth it to avoid a Wii situation repeat should it come to that. I've played through Mass Effect 2 once and I thought it was very good. Certainly excited for the third game.

Also, The terrible-games-from-childhood beatdown was hilarious. You guys should do stuff like that more often.

TalkBack / Re: Street Fighter Producer Interested in Nintendo Vs. Capcom
« on: January 20, 2011, 08:34:27 PM »
Like someone else said, if this does happen, it could be like the upcoming Street Fighter and Tekken game. Nintendo could make a version that plays like Super Smash Bros. and Capcom could make a version that plays like Marvel vs. Capcom. That'd be interesting to see.

So Neal's prediction date was right on the mark. Well played, sir.

I'll go with Ogre Battle here. Might be nice to finally play it and then hear the boys talk about it for an hour or so.  :D

A glitch? So porting a SNES game brought SNES-style problems with it, it seems.

I played the demo for this game earlier today and I must say, I like what I've played. I figure I'll get this one as soon as I get more points.  :D

Nice to see that 10 percent of the goal has been met. And the show is still two days away. I'm insanely excited for it!  ;D

0 for 5 this time, but I will say that there was some really good songs involved here. And I liked the discussion that closed out the episode. Well done.  :D

Ah, my question was answered sooner than I thought.  :D  I can't wait for the live show to see the four of you exchange blows in real time.

TalkBack / Re: Green and Orange DSi Colors Coming Out This Week
« on: November 22, 2010, 11:50:59 AM »
Mario Party DS was a decent game and the colors look pretty good. Of course, some will inevitably complain about getting even more colors with so many models out but at the same time, it's also inevitable that many people will still buy these things.  ;)

I might still give this a rental, as I quite enjoyed the first game. I liked the narrative in the first game and everyone seems to be saying that the story in this game feels shoe-horned in for the purpose of making another game.

Like many others, I also thought the protagonist was a complete jerk at the beginning and like how he developed as the game went on. Admittedly, I felt the first of the "weeks" was a good length and seemed a bit unnerved when I had to do it for a second and then a third time.

I didn't find the overall theme of the game to be a detractor. I found it to be pretty well implemented, namely the whole fashion system and how food consumption worked.

And of course, there's the battle system. Having to manage two characters on two screens with two control inputs seems a bit overwhelming at the beginning but after some practice, I found it to be very satisfying and I overall really enjoyed the game.

Like everyone else says, the audio quality here was great. And the content of the episode was top-notch as well. I certainly wish them all the best of luck with the avalanche of holiday releases.

I went two for five this time. I'm quite surprised that Game 1 has not been used before. Overall, it was a great episode.

I've yet to listen to it, but nice ode to Eternal Darkness with the title. I believe it is "Power Lindemann Creature Summon Power". In other words, summon Jon Lindemann.  ;D

With a limited supply and those pieces of swag, it seems that this is this year's Metroid Prime Trilogy. Still a nice little buy though, especially at 30 bucks.  :D

My Planetarium? We get that instead of My Aquarium 3?  ;D

Yeah... A flashlight app seems pretty silly, considering that the DSi screens are already bright enough to be a flashlight.

I must say, I'm quite interested in Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light despite hearing how even James is having a hard time with it. I'm also eager to play Kirby's Epic Yarn.

The feature was also entertaining, and the part about 2-D platformers stood out. I certainly hope Donkey Kong Country Returns gives us a good challenge.

Lastly, I hope Nintendo keeps the original content in Star Fox 64 for 3DS. That is all you need to pull me in.  ;D

So now all three consoles have disk-less Netflix service now. I guess the only difference now is which ones have HD?
