How about that Giants Hail Mary before the half ended?

Ah, maybe it was just utter dominance. That and people on Twitter reacting to it. Either way, they'll definitely have more of a challenge next week.

Wow. New England punted on third down and then a brawl broke out. I've about lost all respect for that team. I guess now I'm like Greg and can't wait to see them get pounded.

Baltimore has a shot, then if they win that, they'd have to face San Francisco, Green Bay, or New York. Not looking so easy now.

Close game, but the Niners are headed to the conference championship. Certainly will be rooting for them.

Looks like New England's set to win, but will they blow all of their points this week? We'll see.

I'm going to be bold and pick: Giants, Saints, Texans, and Broncos.

As said before, the Giants have a lot of momentum after steamrolling the Cowboys and pretty much shutting out the Falcons. Packers will certainly put up a fight, but that defense (next to dead last) could certainly be cause for concern against a fired up Eli Manning and company.

Saints don't play as well outside, but if Drew Brees can't go to the air, handing it off to Darren Sproles certainly seems like a good alternative. While San Francisco has a good defense, their offense has struggled in the red zone throughout the season. It's been said before: New Orleans is a team you can't beat with field goals. Provided they score, of course.

Texans over the Ravens because the latter has always struggled against the underdogs this season. Remember the losses to Jacksonville and San Diego earlier? Houston has shown that they can put together a competent offense with Yates, or maybe it's just because it was the Bengals, but I feel that Houston at least has a shot.

Broncos because they have momentum after Tim Tebow threw for 316 yards against one of the best passing defenses last week. New England's defense is dead last in ranks, so it's up to the Brady Bunch (Brady, Green-Ellis, Hernandez, Welker, and Gronkowski) to put up some points. Thing is, they've had slow first halves against Miami and Buffalo and fell down 2-3 scores. That could happen again, but they've always got it together in the second half. And remember: last year, the Patriots stomped the Jets 45-3 in their previous meeting but the Jets came and knocked them out in the first round. So I think Tebow Time still has some magic left.

The only game I've dabbled in in this series is Path of Radiance. This will be a nice reason for me to play a game through to the end, hopefully.

Word on the street is that Retro swooped up some staff that worked on Uncharted 3 and Darksiders.

What could this mean for the developer? What could this "crowning achievement" be? Oh, the suspense!

Kirby's Return to Dream Land (Wii)

People dismissed it quickly for not bringing anything new to the table, but I found it doesn't have to. It's a finely tuned platformer with a good amount of challenge and more content than I initially thought. The inclusion of The Arena and its harder counterpart brought back painful memories of Super Star Ultra.

My four favorite games will have one taken from four Nintendo platforms, because I'd like to be diverse. On the downloads, I'd say Freakyforms, Your Creations Alive! because it's terribly silly and charming. For DS, it'd be Pokemon Black/White because it hits the formula well and is very enthralling. For 3DS and Wii, it'd be Super Mario 3D Land and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for pretty much the same reasons listed. The first three-quarters of the year was certainly dark but the last quarter was brilliant.

Oh, man, I almost thought you would pull the Regulators stunt again.

My gaming resolution is simple: play more games. As in, I want to finish at least three a month. I feel that I can achieve this and maintain my sanity, but we'll see if that holds out until the end of the year.

I predict that Nintendo will announce the 3DS revision at E3 and release it this fall. The DS remodels came about a year and a half after the originals (DS to DS Lite, DSi to DSi XL) and the updated 3DS will have better battery life, the second circle pad built-in, and wider viewing angle for the 3D. I'm sure they could pull it off.

NetherRealm Studios is taking a few pages from Capcom's book.

You get all the download characters, skins, fatalities, the music CD, and a copy of the 1995 film. Sounds like a good deal to me!

Giants dominated the Falcons, showing they have a lot momentum. Which they will need, going to face Green Bay next Sunday.

TEBOW TIME!!!!!

What a great weekend!

Mighty Switch Force! (3DS)

Controls are great, the graphics are fantastic, and I find it very replayable. There's not much of an incentive to get the par times unless you're a completionist. Recommended.

So long as the developer does a good job porting them, I'd play them.

Note the "good job" use. Turns out VVVVVV on 3DS will break if you turn on Flip Mode. That was unpleasant, especially finding out until after I activated it.

Saints handled the Lions with a great second half, setting another record or two in the process.

Texans dominated the Bengals, that was a bit shocking.

Now let's see what happens tomorrow.  :D

I'd say the Saints, Giants, Steelers, and Texans. Why? So that should Houston win, then Pittsburgh faces New England. Pittsburgh and Baltimore are the two teams I feel have a genuine chance of containing the Patriots, especially if they want to play comeback heroes again.

So apparently, a "100 percent concrete, high level source" says BOTH Sony and Microsoft's consoles will be shown at this year's E3:

http://games.ign.com/articles/121/1215948p1.html?utm_campaign=twposts&utm_source=twitter

Do I see them announcing their consoles? Sure.

Do I see them having them out on display? Not really.

Do I see them actually releasing them this year? Nah.

Even if they have a lot of ground to catch up with the Wii, I don't think either of them would rush out their next consoles. Besides, the Sega Saturn approach is marred with infamy and I don't understand why anyone would take that route.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: 2011 Nintendo Game of the Year Discussion Thread

For Wii, my GOTY is The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Yes, I agree that there are problems with the pacing, occasional control snafus, and a lot of padding. I also agree that the story and characters are great even if some did not live up to their potential, most notably, Fi. Ultimately, I find the core gameplay of running across the land, solving puzzles, and fighting beasts throughout the dungeons so utterly engrossing that I feel justified calling this my overall Game of the Year.

For DS, my GOTY is Pokemon Black/White. The fact that the developers attempted to give the game a darker, more compelling narrative certainly helped, and the core gameplay of capturing and raising the hundreds of monsters to be as fun as ever.

For 3DS, my GOTY is Super Mario 3D Land. What else is there to say? The controls are great, with superb level design, and the overall package is just ripe with content.

On Wii VC, it's Chrono Trigger. Fantastic game, go play it. On 3DS VC, and this is probably on no one's list, but I picked Game & Watch Gallery. I went into it with modest expectations and found one of the most addicting and replayable games of this year. As for 3DS Downloads, I went with Freakyforms: Your Creations, Alive!. It's Nintendo-like to its core: simple to understand and get into, and can be very enjoyable to play. Not to mention it gets a few laughs out of me almost every time I play it.

Sure, there were some bumps, but overall, I'd say it was a good year for these platforms. Here's hoping next year is great as well.
