Nintendo Gaming / RE:Cube Wars Confirmed!....sorta
« on: April 22, 2004, 09:27:15 AM »
Don't be ridiculous, Pokemon has everything to do with Cube Wars.

Anyway, I don't see how this will work... Realtime strategy has never worked on consoles, and action isn't Cube Wars. This whole thing reminds me of C&C: Renegade for some reason, and that game was horrible.

I'll give the game a chance if it's good, but the odds are stacked against them.

Well, I'm international really.

My background includes Egypt, Canada and the Middle of Nowhere.

Egypt is famous for its pyramids.
Canada is famous for its maple syrup.
Middle of Nowhere is famous for the best hotel in the world, not like anybody knows about it though.

I'm in UC Berkeley now, on student visa.

Nintendo hasn't changed that philosophy, see Wind Waker, which I think is better than OoT.

You can't sit there and laugh at people who believe this rumor, simply because SK is known for insanity effects.

It's like the boy who cried wolf, except the boy is SK and the wolf may or may not be an insanity effect.

I don't think anybody really believes it's true... it is after all a farfetched theory.

Why stop there?

Take Mario into 4-dimensional gaming! And I'm not talking about something lame like time control... it's up to Nintendo to revolutionize the industry again with the next Mario. They should find a way to squeeze 4 proper dimensions in there.

Anything less and people will be disappointed.

If you go to the Silicon Knights website there's still a huge red Nintendo logo right under theirs.

I mean, come on... are they seriously that lazy?

"Paladin, what good would a prank be if you told people what you were doing?"

Yeah, my post was just a couple more reasons it could be a prank, I guess.

But if it isn't a prank, my post is just pointing out a couple weird things and asking for direct confirmation.

Don't try to corner me, I'm a natural adept at covering my ass.

I don't want to believe this because I know if I start hoping my hopes are going to be crushed.

It's strange how Denis never said this wasn't an insanity effect though.

You'd think the company that made ED would be quick to add that if it was actually leaving Nintendo. I'm sure Dyack KNEW that card would be pulled out... so why didn't he deny it from the start and save people all the trouble?

PGC and IGN are also acting very weird about this. You'd think by now they'd have an interview with Denis about it, some more news, anything. I'm sure the questions didn't stop at, "Are you really not exclusive to Nintendo anymore?" in that phone conversation both sites said they had with Dyack for confirmation.

Can you people at PGC get a direct quote from Denis that this isn't an insanity effect? I don't want to think about this any more.

I think that was the point.

I've figured it out.

Remember when Konami infiltrated SK? I don't think we got the real story.

I think they killed Dyack and installed a puppet Dyack of their own so they could port MGS:TT.

Whatever the real reason is, IGN pulled that differing philosophies crap out of their ass.

That interview makes me think.

I guess there's still a chance all they're doing is porting MGS:TT over to other consoles to make some money, then resuming Nintendo support for the next generation with GCNext.

I mean, I can't explain the interview any other way... unless Ian is right and SK saw Nintendo committing harakiri in private.

In the end, I guess we just gotta wait and see exactly what this means. All sources so far are just stating that their exclusivity ended... I'd wait and see what non-exclusive games they're making before I panic.

What's wrong with praising XNA? What the hell, Factor 5 isn't allowed to praise any other consoles now? They're not even related to Nintendo... they can say whatever they want!

They've been working on Pilotwings for quite a while now and it's not for GCN. I'm sorry, since you're the one arguing they're not making it anymore, the onus is on YOU, not me, to prove anything.

Jesus, now I'm damage controlling? Do you even know what damage control means? Where's the damage?

Why can't anybody clearly state just what the hell the damage is?

Because there IS NONE.

What, pray tell, has changed, since I'm obviously a hardcore Nintendo fan who's blind to the truth?

I mean, I'm sorry I don't believe baseless conjecture by prepubescent idiots jumping at any chance to attack Nintendo, but it's not because I'm a Nintendo fan, it's just because it's baseless.

If you find me anything that states that Factor 5 is not developing for GCNext, has dropped work on Pilotwings or was developing anything on GC in the first place before this announcement, then I'll believe your paranoid ramblings.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Factor 5 Drops Nintendo!

The Omen, Rare did that when Nintendo sold its stock and Microsoft bought it out. Of course they're not gonna develop for a competitor.

There is no chance of anybody buying Factor 5. Lucasarts owns Factor 5. Nintendo never owned stock in it anyway. Factor 5 was, is and always will be third party. They never had any obligation to develop for Gamecube, just GCNext, and now they're saying they're not going to develop for Gamecube.

NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

People, stop being paranoid!

"In the past there was still that possibility. Of course I may have just misread your whole statement and we may both be saying the same thing."

I'd be fine with this if everybody's mindset was, "Oh well, now they're definitely moving on to the next generation" like mine...

But apparently it's, "Oh no, Factor 5 is breaking up with Nintendo, Nintendo is doomed!"

Oh dear God.

I'm only going to say this one more time. Read this very carefully.

As of right now, there is no indication Factor 5 is working on anything except Pilotwings. This has been the case since Rogue Leader II came out. Nothing has changed.

If you've got some evidence here that I'm not seeing that somehow contradicts what I just said, by all means, please share it. Why is everybody seeing stuff that I'm not seeing?

"Yep, you just keep waiting for pilot wings pal, LMAO"

What's wrong with that?

I don't see anywhere in the article that says anything that would make me think Pilotwings isn't coming out for GCNext.

Seems to me like you're just pulling stuff out of your behind.

Great, then you didn't even get my point. I never said it wasn't true. Unlike you, I'm dealing with it logically and not jumping on the "Nintendo is doomed!" bandwagon.

I'm gonna go ahead and call you a retard now.

Retard.

"LOL, wake up"

Did you even check the link provided?

Don't make me call you a retard.

Once again:

They are dropping GAMECUBE, not NINTENDO.

This changes NOTHING. The only game they were making that we knew about was Pilotwings, which, guess what, WASN'T for GAMECUBE.

People, people.

Factor 5 didn't drop Nintendo. Factor 5 dropped Gamecube.

All this means as of now is that they're concentrating on Pilotwings for GCNext.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Silicon Knights and Nintendo break up
« on: April 13, 2004, 02:03:46 PM »
I have just one question. It should be obvious but I can't find a direct statement anywhere.

Does Nintendo still own stock in Silicon Knights?

See, all I can find that's set in concrete is that there is no more exclusivity deal. But that could still happen with Nintendo owning stock... just look at Sony and Square.

If Nintendo still owns stock, then that means Nintendo didn't kick them out, they just let them develop for other platforms too.

Maybe all this means is that SK paid Nintendo to do this so they could port over Twin Snakes to other consoles, then SK will just continue making games for Nintendo.
