Nintendo just doesn't share the wealth.  That's my biggest gripe about them--why would they throw out a bone to third parties developer when that's going affect thier own sales :(

Their warchest is 50+ billion or so and I bet anything they can't find the key for it now.  They can with ease take a loss on hardware and make it a bit more powerful but to them that would be mistake.  Sure it would effect shortterm gains but what condition would Sony or MS be in now if Nintendo launched the WII with HD graphics back in 2006.  Just because the WII was a success doesn't mean Sony cant bounce right back next generation.

Went multiplatform since the N64 drought.

Splinter Cell CT uses U2 engine so more than likely the same will be of the remake.

You don't need a PSP GO to access PSN.  You can buy 16+GB cards and add them to any PSP and there's been plenty of new reasons why it's better.  I downloaded 4 titles last year alone mostly because of the killer sales PSN had on those ttitles.  $40 in a retail store or buy it digital for half?  Yeah I miss out of resales (though I never do resell games) and a manual but instead of one game I get two :0.  It's similar to Steam.  Alot of PC sales are made over the net.

NPD stated this is their report.

S&P and Ogre Battle 64 break a million?  S&P sold less than 100K on the N64 in Japan (never sold stateside) and on the VC estimates at a little over 100K.  That's only a quarter million.  Ogre battle 64 sold a bit better at 300-400k but it's VC sales (just released last year) are low.  The list I saw had top 50 WII Ware/VC sales and it didn't make the list so it's below the 10k mark.  There's a remake on the PSP that's about to be released but I'm not sure if you can combine the two sales.

I guess you can combine the sales of VC if you wanted to but they don't really change much.  The top dogs, SMB3 for example already sold a bucket load and made another million sales, but a cult hit like S&P won't be booming any type of success.

There's so many options for the battery it really isn't much of an issue.  You can buy replacements for $20 (2600mahs) which is double the standard 1300mah.  Hell I replaced my psp's battery with one of those 12000mahs (though I think it only held 8K at most) and was able to get 12 hours on a full charge but I had to pay $40 for the battery.

Finally gotten around to getting this game, love it nearly done but are there unlockable missions other than when you complete the game?  I actually like Tomoe story arc, especially the ending though you have to listen to Gabe talking in the background on the airplane :)--epic.

It's a shame so many people overlooked this title (barely broke the 100K mark) but you should be able to find it for $15-$20 easily).

I didn't state 9 new games, there's a couple of games that are closing in on the one million mark milestone some might be over since nobody but the publisher knows the amount of downloads the gotten.  For example if you take in GoW Ghost Spartan and MGS Peace Walker?  The phyical copies only sold 1/2 million but how many downloaded the game through PSN?  The did a reader survey and if that's something to go by 66% downloaded the game.

Pretty sure that game broke over a million ( Konami stated 1.68 million sales for the MGS series for the last year so you'll have to subtract MGS4 sales as well as those few other PSP titles but someone figured it to be 1.1-1.2 million with the PSN numbers).

But yeah, during the last couple of years the sales has slipped stateside, one of it has to do with droughts which is similar to the N64.  People got fed up with them and switched so the user base decreased, but a vast amount of sales was lost due to privacy.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat I think.  Well not as bad as Rachtman but my right eye is developing "bubbles" that blur my vision.  At least I can get an operation though I'll have to drop Two grand per eye since insurance doesn't cover it.

It does have it's advantages though.  Ever go to the bar and tell that ugly chick that you need more booze?  Now all i have to do is switch eyes :).

"The N64 had a lot of multi-million selling game titles that are still remembered fondly today. All the PSP has is Monster Hunter and watered down ports. The fact of the matter is many people who bought a PSP only did so because of how easy the system is to mod. One can hack it and use it to pirate games without any hardware modifications whatsoever. That's what makes the hardware appealing to own for some, but the software sales don't match up"

LOL, in a way you countered your own agruement?  The reason the PSP software sales are so low is the same damn reason the DC was--priating.  The DS has the same issue especially stateside.  Every event I attend too I find less and less people owning any bit of software, and one reason why mature rated games on the WII don't sell.

Still going by the charts, N64 had 50 games that sold a million, right now the PSP has 42 games that sold a million (and that doesn't count PSN downloads).  I wouldn't be surprised to see it surpass the N64 by the end of this year.

Nintendo's always made money and yeah it's profits are high but the PSP was still in the green meaning it's still making a profit hense NGP.  By your standards there can only be one success but in my opinion Sony entered the market with the PSP with 0 shares of the market and Nintendo donimated it, now it grabbed 30%.  Clearly nintendo noticed and why we're getting the 3ds so soon.  Nintendo wants it's pie all to themshevles.

Well what happened with the WII, the US was shorted units because Nintendo made alot more cash out in the other regions--right now I think it's roughly $300 in Japan 25000 yen, and nearly $340 in UK 230pounds or whatever they are using.  People complain about $250 have no clue what goes on worldwide.  And I wouldn't even guess at those poor souls from down under have to pay.

" Include exclusives a year after launch that only a core audience will truly care about "  Isn't that a matter of opinion?

And Sony still haven's stated what the price will be but either of that will matter because both handhelds are going suffer from the same thing--shortages.  Basically whoever makes the most systems is going win round 1.

That's great news IMO, can't believe one bad game like Lair nearly closed the studio.  Would love to see some Rogue Squadron but maybe they can be based on what happens after the fall of the Empire.  There's tons of material (like 40+ novels) on the SW universe.  Honestly how many times can you blow up the Deathstar?

Anyhow back about the single player mode.  There's an article in GI and it does state it's going have a single player mode after all so I guess I was wrong.  The developer talks about how large his developement team is and that why they can bring both MP and SP modes out of the box.

Does DQX even have a developer?  Level 5 did the last two games but so far they haven't announced it yet and they are already commited to multiple projects.

Saddly I won't be holding my breath for any RPG news, been disappointed for the last couple of years so I given up any hope other than maybe a little Kingdom Hearts 3DS news.

Alot of attention towards the 3DS, most likely the biggest announcement will be Super Smash Bros 3DS and a Super Mario title.

365
Well what kills nintendo and helped MS and sony was 3rd party support.  Alot of games didn't getted ported because the developers didn't want to scale down their games.  Think about it, Nintendo had the money, they could easily made the WII more powerful or at least the same power as the xbox 360 which launched a year prior.  They could have sold the WII at a loss and that would have been the nail in MS tomb.  Instead it left enough air for MS to breath and I would think Nintendo will not make the same mistake with this time around.  It has to compete or be close enough so all these great titles get ported to their systems as well.

Great, and the US isn't getting it?  The DS is regional free right so you wouldn't have to hack the console to play UK games.

Battlefied the series never really did have a strong 1st person campaign?  Bad Company series did but that was a spinoff and this is a sequel to the orginal series which was always MP action?  Could be wrong but I wouldn't get my hopes up for single player loving.

Was thinking the same thing, are you the only one that plays it or has access to it?

Just because your kids young doesn't mean he/she doesn't know someone from school that can mod them.  Had one guy at my job had his xbox live account banned because his g/f kids hacked it.  They were 7 and learned it from youtube.  Go figure.

"To preface this, while I enjoy watching them I confess I'm terrible at Fighting Games.  No matter how much I practice and how hard I try, the skill to execute the elaborate contortions of the control stick and pressing the various buttons just eludes me.  I'm familiar with the typical "Haduoken"-style movement"

Have you played any of them on the WII?  It's one thing Nintendo did was make sure everyone can play there games and Super Smash Brothers is a great example of this and Capcom followed suite with TVC.  Want to do a special move?  Hold Down 1 button and pick a direction it's that easy--and for an Ultra attack all you have to do is shake?  My 5 year-old nephew can play it even.

My only gripe about TVC was why did Capcom pick some Japanese show that us Americans don't have a clue about?  It was have been killer if it went with Nintendo vrs Capcom--now there's a game I'm willing to buy.

Resonances of Fate Xbox 360

Yeah, I'm a little late to the party since a few already reviewed it but here's my take if anyone gives a crap:

The game's plot is just like Blood said "utter sh!t that goes nowheres", if any game felt incomplete I'll say it was this one--nothing is really explained or what was the importance of "freedom from the stone " when the outcome is illness anyhow?  There's a few funny scenes that i enjoyed but the developers needed to pick one--gloomy kid with a troubled past or happy goof who googles at boobies.  Can't have both.

As for the combat, Tri-Ace should at least get credit for trying something new--I'll give them credit--but it needs a lot of refinement.  As others pointed there's issues with the balancing.  For some reason even though I had everything  I can do to block poisoning I ended up losing anyhow?  90% chance of block with 1/2 damage yet I end up infected and dead.  It's the same mission KDR and Blood bitched about so I'm glad those three giants gave everyone else issues as well.  Some ablities also made you a tank at the same time, Hawk-eye or whatever reduce your enemy's shields down to 0 so all you had to do was shoot once?  Ended up killing the end three bosses like that.  So there's lots Sega's Tri-Ace team needed to do to get a "fair" balance.

I'll give this one a sad 5/10 as well.

Just finished up Transformers: War for Cybertron (xbox 360) and here's my review.

If you're looking for a short-forward shooter with bots this this game's for you but for everyone else there's plenty of other shooters worth your attention.  The game has a great backstory but it never gets around to telling it?  What happens between Megatron and Optism in the past?  It's bought up in the game but there's no flashback or memo or anything?  Just some bad blood between the two and that's all you as gamer needs to know?  Thanks a bunch!  What this game needed to do was shift down a gear and let the gamer into the unverse the developers created.  Instead the game focusses on just action--pure action.  Go there and shoot that--here I'll highlight if for you--that's basically the whole mission outline.  As a gamer you were never given a chance to think for youself.

I'll give it an 5/10--it could have, it should have been Great.

It was reviewed in this month's GI--think it scored 9.25 off the top of my head.

The only gripe they had was because it was on the DS it had smaller areas and loading but that's about it.

Really glad it recieved a port but hell I can already tell this game isn't going to sell--bad time of year and it's going up Pokemon---Bleh.  10+ years later and pokeon hasn't seen a major gameplay change, it's still retelling the same old story with one or two differences yet it sells MILLIONS.

Oh yeah, Pokemon White/Black was reviewed as well and I think it scored 8.75.

For years I always looked away from the handhelds, this was during the Gameboy and Gameboy Color time.  I considered the handhelds a waste of time and money because the overall quality of games was pisspoor.  Back then the system was recieving awhole lot of shovelware and little else IMO.  But thanks to Pokemon alot of that changed, not because I liked the game but because it changed the way developers saw the system.  They saw $ and began to make big-budgetted handheld titles.

This generartion I can easily say I've played an least a dozen + titles on both systems and say the system more than pulls it's weight.  Hell I think I three new titles coming in the next week or so--Okami Den :)
