Doubt the DL sales are going be much higher.  Most WII U owners--most likely already owned an WII and all those that wanted to play DQX most likely did already.  There wasn't much new to warrant spending $40 (upgrade cost) while still paying $12 monthly.

For $40 you'll get a slighty shaprer image (WII U has better AA), some sound tracks, an bonus in game item, and off-screen gamepad play?  I know better ways to blow $40 on.

--------------------------

Of course I will never have to worry about DQX since it's never going be localized to begin with.  I waited 5 years for this too :(.

An four year old port that sold.  Didn't expect to see this one even break 10K.

Actually Toy's R US haven't been an partner since 2008.

Walmart started sometime last year.  Think Best Buy is one of their partners as well.  Amazon has been for years now.  Not sure about Target?  Never heard of them using NPD?

90% LOL.

NPD only tracks over 900 retailers WW and there's over one million retailers in the states alone.  Since last year NPD has added Walmart but there's plenty of video game chains that don't report to NPD like Fry, Gamerush, ect.

Do What statement is correct, they estimate video game sales.  No one can give you an exact number because there's tons of chains out there that don't bother to share their numbers.

Retro City Rampage been out on PSN longer. also been on sale, so of course the numbers for the PS3 will be the highest?  Retro City Rampage goes on sale in April (first week) on XBLA so expect to see an increase boost.

Hell, I think it was just released on WIIware (March?) so that would explain why it was the lowest sales.

New update in April is set to fix OS loading times, not sure if it's going fix in-game as well.  Exiting the game back to OS took 20ish seconds, now it's about 7.

How is this new?  Unity's on all the major consoles (PS3/MS/WII U) and we knew that from day 1?

Still he might be better off with a WII (sub $50 used now) than an used wii u ($200-250) range.  The WII has GC BC and considering he skipped the GC/WII era he'll have plenty of backlogged titles to play.

You can get the mario series (Mario Sunshine (Gamecube), Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 (WII), and the New Super Mario Bros (WII).  Don't forget Donkey Kong Ruturns (WII), Kirby's Epic Yarn, and Kirby Return to Dreamland.

For Metroid, buy Metroid Prime 1 and 2 (GC versions) and Metroid Prime 3(wii).  Can't recommend Metroid Other M though.

Might was well hold off on the WII U for now.

As long as it's DLC and not already on-disc then I'm ok with it--not that I plan on buying it right away anyhow but once the seaon goes on sale for an reasonable price like $5-8 I'll end up getting it.

161
I usually don't have any trouble with Walmart's in my area price matching buy 2 get 1 free since those happen all the time--you'll just have to get an override and items will appear with 33% off sale/price adjustment next to them--meaning you can't return them for full value.

Wanted Fire Emblem but neither Target or Walmart has it in stock in my area :(

Ended up getting an used Vita.  Came with 16GB card/case/ and three games for $170ish.  Already have PS+ and a few vita PSN titles purchased so that should last me awhile.

Also ended up snagging an used WII U PE with two additional games (Zombiu, NSMB2) for $250.  Not keeping the system since a friend of mine wanted one for her kid so I'm giving it to her minus Zombiu since her kid is only 8 anyhow.

And lastly purchased X-com Enemy Unknown PS3 for $17.  Really enjoying the game but I'm only a few hours in at this point.

"slumber parties"

These are "adult slumber parties".  I'll bring the beer and the hookers.

PS.  Cops can't arrest you for prostitution if you have no intention of paying (protip from the Secert Service).

"exaggerated price" Huh?  Same price that people paid for when it was released on the Xbox/ps system?

And the pricing is Europe isn't as bad.  Zavvi has it for pre-orders for $57ish (if you bought from them in the past quarter you'll likely to have another 5 pound coupon from them as well).

I don't see the big deal?  Games always launched at full price regardless of timing--late PC ports were always retail pricing so why should Nintendo's console be any different?

Spend the money, support the console or don't.  Nobody forcing you to buy it--you can just wait for it to go on sale.  Want more support for the WII U buy the game.

====================================
BTW:  There was an $20 gaming coupon offer for preorders already plus an additional $10 off/$50 spent so I ended up preordering it for my cuz for $30ish anyhow.  That deal has ended but I'm sure Best Buy will have another one soon.

MS's having it's Fighter's Sale deal going on tomorrow (3/4) for Xbox's GoD--some good deals:
Mortal Kombat 9 $20 (cheaper at GS plus you can buy the Komplete edition which was 4 extra dlc characters and skins)

MK vs DCU- $5 (cheapest I've seen this one yet)

Street Fighter 4 - 10 (don't bother since the AE version is the same price)

Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition - $10 (fook I already own in on PC/PS3 but that's still one hell of a deal)

Street Fighter X Tekken -20 (don't bother--you still have to fook over another $20 to get the on-disc DLC code)

Tekken 6 - $10 (about the same price as the disc version)

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 - $ 20 (good deal)

KOF 13 - $10 (you still have a few dlc characters to buy but they are mostly carbon copies of characters you already have so--decent deal).

Looking forward to seeing what changes they made to the battle system.  Notice in the demo there's no rescue command (which was great in the GC and WII versions of Fire Emblem).  Also notice that once you chose to attack you can no longer "move".  Hopefully they replace more than they've taken away.

It's to bad you'll only get "save" anytime during casual mode.  I wouldn't mind harder modes in FE games but I always end up pulling out my hair when an axe weilding pirate gets an critical hit on an blade warrior.  :(

Still can't wait to read your review, also did you play the other games in the series to highlight the differences in the battle system?

Just happy to see it come west--I love my grid-based tatics games, though I wonder how well the story is told and if backgrounds are given for the 200+ roaster of characters--some of them I know but an refresher wouldn't hurt me neither.

Hopefully this game sells well enough for Capcom, Sega, and namco so we'll (NA/Europe) continue to get locialized games.  I'm still holding out hope for AA:  Miles Edgeworth 2.

Demo is out today.  Basically the prologue and first mission in chapter 1 which is it say more or less training missions for the newcomers.  Still at least you can see some of the story/art design and met a few of the cast.

The problem with any SSB game is the teir balance issues.  Nintendo doesn't release patches/updates so watching anyone playing becomes the same two-or three fighters.  Capcom's pretty good about yearly updates to keep games like SF 4 fresh.

Also rule set for SSB usually has item/weapons off if I recall.

-------------------------------------

The main reason to go to tournaments, tips :).  I spent 30-50 hours with SSF4A and had a hell of a time getting simple move  sets down and it took one pro player 30 seconds of watching me play to tell me that I was inputting the buttons to quickly.  Namely in SSF4 if you do the quarter circle motion you have to pause a 1/2 second before hitting whatever punch or kick.

Timing is so important in fighting games (that and distance) that most games don't bother to cover them at all leaving it up to guess work by the player--ugh.

----------------------------------------------------
Planning on hitting a few tournaments this year even though I haven't won a single match yet :0.  Someone has to be at the bottom.

The WII U looks like it was left out again.  Both the Battle Edition and Collector's edition are for Xbox/PS3 and the WII U is only getting the standard game itself.

DLC season pass.  Always hate buying an game (nowadays) just to find it has something like another $40 worth of DLC stuff to go along with it.  So I end up waiting for the GOTY edition instead.

Call it an reward program.  When you purchase any game, all DLC that is made ofter your date of purchase you'll get for free.  So another words if you wait around for a price to drop on the game itself you'll end up having to PAY for DLC which you could have gotten for free.  Not only would that plan help with inital sales (the frirst few months) but it'll help kill some of the used games as well--people would hang on to their games longer IMO.

"Nintendo is selling the charge stand separately for $20, not $5"

Just because the manufacturing assigns MSRP doesn't mean it's actually worth that much.  Take Sony Vita memory cards for instance.  Not worth 1/2 for what Sony chargers for them.

Hense it's an $5 piece of plastic.  You can find alt Gamepad stands/crandle on ebay for $5 shipped.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your right about Digital Deal for 2 years though (good through 2014).  Also I guess I was wrong about 3ds eshop?  According to nintendo's official site sales on that one should count for your digital discount as well.  Still they need to patch in WII's Shop and VC?

174
"Street Fighter X Tekken 2013"  :(  Surprised to see it coming back, it was the least viewed or hyped game last year.

Kinda surprised to see Persona 4 Arena, should be interested to see what country has top players for that game.

SC5 didn't make it :( not even an year old, Skullgirlz and Playstation ALL-star were left out as well.

Surprised Injustice didn't make the list, best way to promote an game is to have competitions IMO.

175
"why it's so bad (at $300"?

White's an Better value IMO:

In the black you get an:
$5 dollar stand
$ Ninendoland (currently selling for around $20 on ebay)
Another 27ish GB flash storage?
An 10% discount card for one year off digital purchases for EShop which doesn't include the 3ds shop or wii shop :(.

No, for gamers like me it was far better just getting an white and using the extra $50 for external storage or an a game that actually wanted to play.  :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I aways thought Nintendo should have gone with Nintendoland as a free downloadable title and have monthly DLC (more themes) that way you'll get WII U consumers Online and checking out the digital store.
