Gamespot's Skyward sword review
aka the gamespot zelda shitstorm, part the second.

I haven't played the game so obviously I'm not in any position to say whether or not they're trolling, but it seems like they're following in the footsteps of their twilight princess review.

well i bought BF3 on PC and origin isn't as terrible as people make it out to be. Sure its not perfect but remember when everyone used to hate steam? (well i guess you wouldn't if you never played valve games around that time)

also pretty sure this wont be true.

Great talk about how other podcasts are worthless sources for anything Nintendo.  Have unsubscribed from many shows that just had ridiculous conversations about topics they clearly knew nothing about.

RFN is definitely your best source in regards to podcasts.  They are positive when there is good news, critical and thoughtful when there are negatives, and always knowledgable about the topic at hand.
Completely agree, I work nightshift at a hockey arena so i basically listen to podcasts all shift. I've tried many podcasts but by far the best for nintendo discusion are the 3 NWR podcasts. Some of the media outlets don't even try to disguise the nintendo-hating -_-

The main thing that stands out about the NWR podcasts are the amount of intelligent discusion focused at Nintendo by people who actually know what they're talking about, i mean no one would even bother with the business commentary that you guys do for example. NWR's podcasts are my favourite gaming podcasts let alone nintendo podcasts... Well since a life well wasted never puts out any episodes anyways...

Also Greg, you're fucking awesome. Didnt even notice you had to edit out Karl.

Fire emblem: radiant dawn

As a fan of advance wars and tactical rpgs in general the core gameplay is fine. The story forces too much exposition throughout the game adding in details that wont mean much except to the most die hard of Fire Emblem fans. While the story is pretty bad at first as the story progresses it gets better until part 4 of the game where it does a massive nosedive.

The main issue i have with this game however is time... specifically the fact that this game does not respect the players time at all. If a unit dies, he/she is dead forever and with a game clocking 40 hours it just isn't an option to accept the losses and move on since in addition to being a time sink, this game is also pretty tough. Because of this you will find yourself resetting again, and again....and again. That is as much of a critique of the game and the series as a whole. The game's internal clock tells me i spent 40 hours on this game, but in real world time it's probably hovering around 60-70 hours.

In the end however i still enjoyed it because of the core tactical rpg game play, however I've come to the conclusion that im much better off sticking to Intelligent Systems' other game, Advance wars. Get this game if you're a fan of tactical rpgs and have unlimited time on your hands. For everyone else this game probably wont be for you.

A new trailer is out you can see it here. It is on the lower right hand side of the page. It also has the first trailer without the jet engine in the foreground.

Maya doesn't look any better. I am getting the impression that they have badly missed characterised her. Or that they literally taken ever scene she looks intense, stressed or otherwise preoccupied and placed them in the trailers.

oh god. why are they going serious with this? either way an anime would have been the better move imo

Just discovered this band a few months ago and holy crap they are good. They arent a regular cover band their songs are basically a rock opera set in the Megaman universe. I know i was skeptical at first but it's actually really awesome.

all their songs are on youtube and you can follow the lyrics via this page

it will bring me lols.

I like how suspenseful that first gif is. ;D   I would totally support the idea of replacing review scores with gifs showing how much the reviewers here liked the game.

hah I just watched professor layton and the eternal diva right before i decided to listen to RFN, I pretty much agree with what was said about it and even more of a coincidence is that I almost have exactly the same TV set up as James. I have a Desktop PC hooked up to my monitor and my HDTV (the computer just sees it as dual monitors) it has a bluray drive on it as well and i pretty much use it as my home theatre box. Anyways the Professor Layton movie has some pretty good animation so watch it in HD if you can, it looks pretty nice.

Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva

I just finished playing professor layton and the unwound future and loved the animation and artstyle so i decided i would check out the movie as well. I recomend this movie to people who havent played any layton games and aren't sure whether they should buy the game or not or like professor layton but arent fond of puzzle games. This gives you a pretty good idea of how Layton games are like.

As a movie by itself though it's pretty whimsical like a movie based on Layton should be. They managed to work in things from the game such as the puzzle solving and puzzle music pretty cleverly. However the last 1/3 of the movie gets extremely wacky. It's around here where the movie will either fall apart for you or make you smile at the over the top sillyness of it all (more than usual), that too stays true to the Layton games as well.

Similar to Studio Ghibli movies this is a light hearted, escapist popcorn movie where you can turn your brain off and enjoy the world the animators created, just don't expect a masterpiece story line.

3.5/5

Funny thing is just after i finished this i decided to listen to the newest ep of RFN where they talked about it lol

Dear 'Conan The Barbarian....

Never Watching You Again,
Stogi

Yeah i was forced to watch that because i was the only one in my group of friends who didnt want to see it and i basically just ended up walking out of the theatre XD

The best thing about this podcast (and NWR in general) is that they're willing to go into the nitty gritty of Buisness commentary. Makes me wish that you guys covered all the consoles because thats what makes you guys so awesome :D

Professor Layton and the unwound future
As part of my backlog of games on the NWR's DS top 30 that I haven't played yet.
I got it since I've only heard good things about this series. I'm not much of a puzzle fan so I didn't really like the game play but It's the presentation that makes this game. You should get it if you're a puzzle fan, if not then watch the movie instead.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Wii U Must Bring it E3 2012?
« on: November 01, 2011, 04:42:12 AM »
I'd like to see an RTS game for the wiiU launch window. thats probably the only genre that i can think of that will be substantially benefited by the new controller and will show hardcore gamers why they should want it.

In the end, Nintendo can have all the pretty graphics in the world but if no one is making games for the thing then it doesn't matter. To the hardcore audience who already have a 360 or ps3 HD wont matter to them, Nintendo needs to show them gaming experiences they cant get on the other consoles.

Are these pictures really from River City Ransom? I watched videos of River City Ransom on YouTube, but I didn't see any monologues.

lololol thats some random webcomic i found

I have to disagree with this.  In general, I play on the default skill level - whatever it is.  If the game is too hard/too easy, then I'll go back and change it.  If I really, really like the game, then I'll give it another play though and up the difficulty.

Though, it doesn't seem like I play that many games with variable skill levels.
