Ew, a plasma TV?

Plasma TVs have their pros and cons. They can handle deeper shades of black, for example. They are a very poor choice for video games, though... especially if you leave a game paused, because Plasma TVs can potentially have images burned into the screen and then they are junk. This was the reason why screensavers were invented.

i think he was joking because i was clearly talking about playing a wii on an HD set

i think you'll be fine although dolphin would only be able to use 2 of the cores, just start with 720p with no AA or any other special settings and then work your way up.
when you get it up and running go to the graphics option and click on the hacks tab then turn EFB copies to RAM or else the clothing textures wont render properly on the last story

I loved the Goldeneye segment, have any of you tried Goldeneye source? It's a remake of the multiplayer mode using the halflife 2 source engine, it's pretty fun. I guess this also fits in with the lastest RFN which their talk about fan mods but figured it fit here more

Indeed. Jon read that line really low but really weird and that was my attempt to keep that in while not amplifying his voice (which would have missed the point) and not have the music drown him out.

i thought it was a comedic pause because he was mumbling

I'm right there with you Guillaume, i absolutely hate using analogue sticks for FPS'. which is why i always play the PC version of the game instead, wiimote pointer controls are great, but like James said most developers don't really try and most games has terrible default settings which forces you to spend some time customizing the controls before you can play the game, assuming the developers even give you that option. As Metroid Prime 3 shows when it's done right it's a pretty big improvement over sticks. during the conversation there seemed to be a theme of "people not knowing how to use dual analogue" i didnt even know that was a factor, in my case its just personal preference. At any rate im glad that the wii remotes are compatable with wiiU and hopefully they'll actually be utilized as an optional interface.

Ew, a plasma TV? You poor guy? In all seriousness, how good does your PC have to be to run it?

well the dolphin emulator is pretty processor intensive (the dolphin emulator supports dual cores), but im running this on my 2005 gaming PC which i turned into a HTPC so by today's standards i think if your computer is relatively new it would be able to run it at a decent framerate so long as your processor and graphics card are decent. The dolphin emulator lets you run it at the original wii resolution and the difference is night and day once you bump up the settings a bit to 720, turn on anti aliasing etc etc.. Although if you want to run it at max settings at 60 fps you'll probably need a new-ish gaming PC


I have my HDTV hooked up as monitor 2 so i can still play it on my couch (Dolphin emulator supports wii controllers)   here's to hoping that the wiiU backwards compatability lets you touch up wii games like the dolphin emulator can

Too lazy to copy and paste links, but the XBMC Android app is going to be catered to Ouya, so I'm officially going to get one. A $99 console and HTPC that can play any type of video under the sun? Perfect. I'll probably get two or three actually.

Yeah that sounds pretty cool, i use xbmc on my pc plenty (monitor 2 is my HDTV) and $99 is a fair price for an xbmc box alone. Anyways I love the Ouya in theory but im playing the wait and see approach

i dont really care about the bonuses, but i had it pre-ordered on Amazon for months anyway so i might as well just get it to increase the resale value since it looks the they actually put some effort into them instead of throwaway trinkets like pre order bonuses usually are (i'm a proactive collector haha)
