I believe this is the scene Tannookisuit was referring to.    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVY7O-FK0DQ&feature=player_detailpage#t=55s

It does look like the exact same sofa.  I believe the cabin set, but hearts instead of the normal pillows.  That's a good catch, I hadn't noticed it.

General Gaming / Re: No longer finding competitive online fun. Anyone else?
« on: September 26, 2011, 06:05:16 AM »
I actually stopped playing these things about in 2004.   Voice chat was starting to become normal and I just found I didn't like hearing people get angry or mad all the time.  It wasn't even voice chat that killed it directly, but the attitude of most general gamers mixed in with it.

I just don't even want to try to deal with the elitism, whining, angry, or complaining that seems to fill those kinda games anymore.    (Kinda hypocritical since I am whining about it now :)    )

It's not like I am against online games, I love playing coop with friends and family.   I love occasionally running into new people to play with too through my friends.  I just like to play things coop now with people who want to talk and be friendly, than play with people who don't understand games are for fun.

So I guess the answer is I just got burned out on them, and now most of my online gaming comes to the rare occasions that I can play with more relaxed friends ,rather than trying to deal with public competitive games.

I need to start gathering them again.  I stopped taking my 3ds with me a lot of places.  Need to start taking it during morning walks.  I never finished my second play through of find me.   Also I didn't know you could have 300 coins, for some reason I assumed it stopped at 99.   That will teach me to assume. :)

A cave or network of them to explore would be quite interesting.   I'm hoping for a good amount of small expansions of that sort.  New places to go and explore.  Perhaps gather things to sell.   Cave mushrooms would make a great item to sell at Nooks.   The concept art map is quite interesting.   Makes me hopeful. :)

Uhgg...    I will be honest..   I'm not exactly thrilled about having some frankeinsteined up 3ds.  Honestly having my current 3ds with that, I will be a lot less likely to take it with me on the go.  It's not the size or anything like that.  It's just... Well  the only sound I can make to represent the appeal of it is Uhgg.    Not to mention just the disappointment  in the whole thing.   While I think it should have had a second analog from the start, just to have more options.   The inclusion of something like this after the fact is just disappointing.

The only way I can see this becoming even used popularly is if it is included in a future soon redesign like the rumors are saying.   Either way I am just disappointed.  I totally expected a redesign someday, with better battery, maybe camera , form factor or whatever. If they go this route of including extra buttons and sticks.  It will really shake my trust in Nintendo as a company.

Guess will just have to wait and see how this turns out and what becomes of it all before really judging. Not really pleased at the prospect though so far.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Roller Coaster Tycoon 3DS
« on: August 28, 2011, 06:08:12 AM »
I'm really happy to hear this announced for the 3ds.  As I thought early on this would make a great title.   I'm not huge into Sim games, but I always loved this series.    Plus there is quite a bit they could do with it. Could let you ride your roller coaster in 3d.   Street Pass could perhaps be used to trade designs and such.

Or even have your and other peoples mii's wonder around the park.    I hope they pull off a good version of the game.   As this is going on my watch list.

It is a bit sad to see how poorly they are using the feature.  I would at least think they would put that Nintendo Week thing on it?   That show they do every week on the Wii.

It would at least make for a more interesting update than the "Nintendo Video is"  Video that they have updated like 3 times on mine so far, and labeled as new each time.

I don't know, I tend to agree that the commercials seem a bit low on production standards.  I don't like that Go commercial, but it at least seemed to have more effort put into.

With the music in the background and the kinda thrown together visual form of editing it does look like a bad infomercial.  At least in my opinion. :)

I remember that Tetris God video.  I would like to state for fact, that is not a video but a documentary on life.   I'm 100% sure the tetris god does that..  For I have experienced such pain first hand.

I played this originally on my gameboy on a trip to St Louis way back when it came out.   I got it on my 3ds probably less than a week ago.  It's been a lot of fun to replay.  Forgot how nicely designed some of the stages are.   Good short puzzles that I have mostly forgotten.  After all it's been nearly two decades.

I would say the only real fault the game has, it not being able to save at anystage.  Then again with the VC and save states, that doesn't matter.  Been a blast to replay so far.  I think I'm only to world 5 or so though.

I wouldn't mind one of the GBA pokemon games.   I haven't played a pokemon game since the original ones.  Minish cap would be nice also.   Looking over the list of possibilities, makes me really excited to see what the other five might be.  I did kinda wonder about some of the titles Mop it up mentioned.  Given that Nintendo didn't announce the other titles right now, perhaps they are maybe working on some deal to give away titles that they helped publish.    I can hope at least.

Honestly I don't mind the price drop. I honestly kinda thought it would drop in price before the holidays, although I was thinking more 200 not 170. In fact it may be kinda sad, but I'm looking forward to my free games.   Also a few of my real life friends might pick on up now.

Was really looking forward to this title, but at the same time I'm not surprised.  I kinda was sensing this might happen with it's "demo" thing not showing up on the e-shop.   It seems to have been a product lingering on the edge since they first revealed it.    Still very sad this happened.

Yeah I kinda added everyone who didn't request permission to add them first.    I need to add a few of the newer people listed though.  I figure one day I will just go through and delete those that didn't add back.  Been fairly easy once I did the first giant block of adding everyone.

Ugh. For all that Nintendo does that upsets and annoys me they can at the same time do something that makes me glad they are still around and why I stick with them. My copy of OoT arrived today and just finished up the Great Deku Tree. The game looks and plays great. I forgot how much I enjoyed playing it. The last time I played it was years ago and that was on the N64. This really is the type of full feature game I want on the system...need on the system. Being able to play this in my chair with my feet up while being able to look up at the TV now and then is the combination that really is ideal to me.

Pretty well said.  My copy arrived today and I feel pretty close to the same way.  While sometimes I kinda rub my head and wish Nintendo would do this or that better.  I honestly love them for games like this.  I know a lot of people are not happy with a remake or port of an older game.  I just haven't played Ocarina of Time since about 2001.  So it's been about a decade.  The game just holds up so wonderfully.

Having such a great game, with a wonderful and long gameplay experience on my 3ds is just wonderful.   I distinctly remember playing Ocarina of Time when it came out.  Imagining how someday I would be able to play such games on a future gameboy or whatever.  Now I have the same game in my pocket, with some pretty darn wonderful remade textures and effects.  It just..  Makes me smile.

I have to laugh a bit at all the people telling others to just "go to the store buy a copy and then return your amazon one"  It would cost me nearly the retail price of the game in gas to drive to the store and back twice to do that..  Yah.. Not happening.  I will just miss out on the offer.   That's not even counting the hours spent driving back and forth.   Then again even as a huge Zelda fan, I kinda half way expected this and am not too disapointed.   Would rather live in my nice house in the middle of the country than live near or in a city to have such "easy access" for such schemes.

(edit)   Before anyone thinks that I was saying that was a bad idea or anything. Just wanted to clearify that I do not..  It's a great idea for someone who can do that, thing is a lot of people places orders online for a reason.  In my case it's just I live too far from a store for any easy access.  It's actually cheaper for me to pay for overnight shipping than to drive to a store and back.  O_o

I totally agree about the save point.  I loved the original but forgot how saving went.   If I want to use the games actual save and not the virtual console save point.  I have to sit my 3ds down on a table or flat hard surface.   Use my left hand to press the start and select buttons, and my right hand for A and B.     Even then it takes me several tries to get it to through.    The button placement and the design of the start and select buttons really makes it hard.

Thanks for the heads up on the save thing though.   I didn't even think of possibly messing up that restore point..    Gotta make sure to start doing a hard save each time now. Heads up appreciated.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Game Ideas - WiiU Edition

I'd actually like to see a multiplayer RPG (whether local or online doesn't matter) with one player as the DM and 4 players as the travelling party. All of the dice rolls, party stats, etc show up on the touch screen used by the DM, and he can use voice chat to tell the story while tracing out a map and setting up enemy encounters.

Multiplayer D&D that auto-enforces the rule? Sounds good to me.

That sounds like an awesome idea of some D&D playing.

I could also see a mode where the DM could design their own dungeons on the Wii U screen.   Laying out traps or various other things ahead of the player.   Or perhaps the DM would get a sneak peek at the next area on the players campaign on their screen.   They could then start putting down traps, or other events before they even get there.

Ooo I like the Lugi's Mansion idea thing.    I also had a hard time getting my white one.  I think I went through about 40 cats till I got one.   I started my second play through of the game the other day.  I dread that level again, hopefully this time I will get one the first time.  I hope..  *Crosses fingers*

Nice observations. Really though, who am I kidding, I will likely get this no matter what, just for the community aspect!

I will second that on both the nice observations and will probably get it no matter what I say before hand.

I would really love a good hack and slash dungeon crawler on my 3ds.   This game is really high on my watch list.   I'm glad to see it getting good light so far, I just hope it comes out as a good game also.

Mmmmm..  Perhaps a steel diver sequel.  In my mind I picture it more of a mini game, but one player uses the Wii U remote and plays the sub..  They can use it to move and navigate and even a periscope function.   The other player is a battleship of some kind.  Playing on the tv with a different controller.    The sub being the weaker of the two, but having the ability to stealth and see where the battleship is.   Where as the battleship is more powerful but lacks the stealth of the sub.  Not really an idea I want, but it's something I could see being used.

Obviously the Wii U remote could be used a lot in a new animal crossing game.  Texture making being one.  Perhaps there could be more to it though.  Like actual landscape designing and such.  Drawing rivers on your town map.  Plotting out walk ways or such.   Maybe even designing structures.

That's all that I can think up right now.  Not really great or revolutionary ideas either.  Tired brain needs sleep. :)

Well, it looks like they've got the solid hardcore titles down pat, I'm guessing that they're saving the casual games for a more appropriate setting because of all the **** they've gotten at past E3s for having casual games on display. Casuals don't watch E3 unless they work for CNN.

The great thing about the WiiU or at least potentially, is a drastic improvement in casual games. Hopefully they will not only be deeper in integration, but wider in their variety. That shuriken throwing demo could easily be in WiiUSPorts, or UNintendogs as Frisbees or treats (speaking of which, UNintendogs would be probably be pretty cool with that controller, like a giant DS version (and speaking of that, Nintendo is turning all of our TVs into giant DSs**)), bird watching would be an interesting addition to WiiUSports if it looked like that demo and the controller is your binoculars, and there are a bunch of other good ideas for the controller as well. I'm glad to see 'hardcore' titles will be making good use of the controller (although I'm not sure if I actually want to make a 180degree turn to see what's behind me), but I think we'll see better casual use, as far as the screen goes beyond maps and additional views.

Then there's also the nongaming features that Nintendo hopefully goes hard with.

**So, now that our TVs are going to be giant DSs, are we going to be able to play DS games on the big screen? How about 3DS for those with a 3DTV? That would be freaking awesome imo.

Huh.. That birdwatching idea kinda made me think that the system would probably be well suited to a future Pokemon Snap game.   Those are some rather clever ideas.
