Excellent excellent show, guys!!  Thank you!

It's always good to hear the discussions after the songs even if you didn't know much about it.  You've made me chuckle quite a few times.

I got 3/5 correct.  I thought I knew where the last game was from, but guessed wrong.

@NinSage

@0:32 of that video, there's a bit of underboob showing.

...not for Nintendo.  :-[

Also, Jason... your avatar is incredible.

I know!  Ain't it great?  ;D

Actually, I can't take any credit for it.  It was found somewhere online using Google.
Good ol' Google.

I haven't see anyone using Rainbow Mika as an avatar online, so I did.

Jake Hunter Detective Story: Memories of the Past was a greatly-improved version of Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles.  It was more complete, including having ALL of the chapters of the original, re-written translations, and lots of extras!

Jake Hunter Detective Story: Memories of the past was the full, unedited, fully-translated version of the japanese game.  Detective Chronicles was rushed work.

I really want an RPG mode.  This past gen with Nintendo has been really rough.  If Nintendo will give Camelot more time to work on an RPG mode, let them have it.  I'd rather have a true sequel to the older Game Boy Mario Tennis games than another plain tennis game from the home console side.  From the looks of it, it looks mostly like a carbon copy of Gamecube's Mario Power Tennis in execution, but with online play.

Admittedly, I got excited when the new episode popped up in my RSS reader.  Thank you, Pedro and TYP, for the great episode (even though I only got the first two games correct).

I hope you feel better, TYP.

Thanks, guys.  I really enjoyed this episode and got 2/5 correct.
Does anyone know the name of the Japanese adult volleyball game that James was talking about?

I agree that Metal should have been an alternate color/suit.  It could have also been a powerup that allows you to not be fazed by attacks and track hazards (except falling) for a brief moment.  Maybe even have it allow you to easily bump other players hard to the side of the road/off track with your added weight.

I'm glad for the addition of Wiggler and Honey Queen.

So was Rosalina, but they still shrunk her.
Isn't the Honey Queen way too large to ever possibly fit in a Kart?

Most of Nintendo's characters are a bunch of nobodies, because Nintendo doesn't want to include them in anything but sports, party games, and Smash bros (usually only as a trophy). With games that'll give them chances to stand out and grow personalities, they'll remain as part of a goofball cast of shallow weirdos.

I never liked Waluigi.
I hate the babies.
Where's Tiny Kong (all grow'd up version)?
As long as Daisy is around, I'm happy.  Plus, I think that she could also star in her own adventure/action game and appear in Smash Bros., but not as a clone or palatte swap.

I agree.

Also, I also think it's best to keep Sony and Microsoft talks to a minimum.  I like having Nintendo Jeopardy instead of more Xbox 360 and PS3 discussions filling up the air.  There's PLENTY of that on most other podcasts (it seems that Nintendo isn't a popular subject elsewhere).

I also got 3/5
Got Game #1, Game #2, and Game #4.

Game #3 had a familiar sound, but it wasn't what I thought it was.
Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to play Game #5.

Good show, guys.  Very informative. Great music.

Looks to be one of the better fishing games ever made for any console.  The exploration bits makes it cool, like We Ski & Snowboard.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Naming the WiiU Controller
« on: July 12, 2011, 08:44:21 PM »
Sorry.
I had a lot of PS2 games on my mind that required the uses of the analog stick for movement.
Many of those games made the switch to being analog-exclusive once they've meddled with analog controls of the PSOne, with many of them using the either one to control the character/vehicle or for something else (example: items in Devil May Cry 3)

Off the top of my head, PSone games, like Ace Combat 2 and 3, some racing games, and a few action games that has the analog mode on at default. The Ape Escape series, of course, used the analog sticks exclusively.

I shouldn't have used PSOne as an example.

For Wii U, there's going to be games that'll tell you to switch to or connect/disconnect the "XXX Controller", like you'd see with games, like Super Mario Galaxy, Virtual Console, and other games that does or doesn't want specific controllers to be connected.

Calling it the "Wii U Controller" would be fine, but Nintendo will probably start selling more Wii remotes, Classic Controllers, and Nunchucks.  As seen with a number of demostrations at E3 and other game shows, they've all been used with the majority of first and third party games.  No multiplayer game so far has been seen with more than one Wii U tablet controller.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Naming the WiiU Controller
« on: July 12, 2011, 06:29:25 PM »
I think the reason it needs a name is, unlike most other consoles, the Wii has a standard set of controllers officially made for the console.  Wiimote was the center in the connectivity of other types needed for different media.

You need the Balance Board for Wii Fit.
The Classic Controller best fit games that uses the normal controller button layout (or to meet the minimal amount of buttons needed for Virtual Console games).
The Nunchuck gives analog movement and allows for both motion and pointer options to be used.

Some games requires the use of just a Wii Remote or a combination of controllers to be used for playing.  Giving them names only makes things easier.

Looking back at other systems, like the SNES and NES, there was no need for a controller with a name, unless a game requred something else, like the Super Scope games and games that uses the Zapper.
The Playstation, outside of lightguns, didn't need anything but a normal controller, until analog movement and the Dual Analod/Dual Shock controllers were introduced to those users.  For some games, analog was optional, but there are still a wealthy library of PSOne games that is analog-controller only.

When there is only one controller needed for 100% of a game console's library, then there would be a need for any special controller names.

It's always a joy to listen to Radio Trivia!

-This time I only got one game wrong (#4).
-Game #3 shares songs with other games (with no changes), so it wouldn't really matter what your guess is, as long as its from one of the other games.
-Lots of gamers rely heavily on review scores.  It's the developer's fault that any game recieves a lower-than-expected review score, including bad direction (some feels this way toward Metroid: Other M).  It was the publisher and marketing teams who failed to get games noticed.  Even if the gamers who rely on review scores don't buy the game, there was still a HUUUGE fan base who could have.

Thanks again for another great show!
