TalkBack / Re: Wii U System Update v3.1.0 Now Available

So basically a nearly useless update and a delay of the big one. Le sigh Nintendo. What are you doing over there?

TalkBack / Re: There Are 'No Plans' for a ZombiU Sequel
« on: July 10, 2013, 07:46:17 AM »
Darn, we won't be getting yet another Zombi game. oh well.

If Nintendo can get the support of all the indy devs who don't w**** out of thier franchises on a year-to-year basis, I'll be fine by that. The less games in your library made by EA, Activision and Ubisoft, the better.

As for the Last of Us, sounds like a great game, but it's also being reviewed by people with low standards who clearly think that its OK that a headshot is not an instant kill. Seen multiple reviews point this out, then still give it the 10/10 score.

With that in mind, stop referencing review scores for Nintendo games. Non-Nintendo game sites give Nintendo games a -2 out of 10 to start, then work from there. So it's hard for any Nintendo game to get above an 8.

I'd buy these games physical, which sadly I don't think the promotion applies to. Not even $30 credit is enough to sway me to go digital. Still, a great promotion for those who like digital copies.

Nice review. After playing the first one on the Wii VC a few years back, will pick this up for sure once I knock out some of the eshop games I already have downloaded. Need to catch up to say the least. But nice review, easily explains the concept of the game.

Justin, you made Nintendo's year. You just said they are releasing too many games at once.

Quick, tell Nintendo to cut back production! This Wii U train of games must slow down now!!

Seriously though, best week on the digital scene in a long time. Picking up Little Inferno with that sale, will wait until retail version of Luigi. No DLC, even if it is cheaper, for me.

I'd be up for some online Brawl. Why not do an all-around community night? Just say people can play whatever they want, Brawl, Monster Hunter, Mario Kart Wii/7. Just a thought, rather than make it focused on one game.

McDonalds and Starbucks? Two places I never journey into. Now I need to find a reason. Food or drink certainly aren't options at either.

Come on Nintendo, pick healthy places!

Want this game to come out. I remember when the devs hopes it would be there day 1 on the Wii U eshop... yeah, not even close at this point. Finish the game already!

Sounds like a blast. Any form of ETA on a release date? I don't think I saw one in the article.

1,0001 lives sounds about how many I used to beat Super Meat Boy - not counting the Dark World of course.

So..... Feb 2014 it is.

I loved Mario Golf on the Gamecube. I hope this game has even deeper elements. Outside of Pokemon X/Y, this is my most anticipated 3DS game of the year. Well until I play this Project X Demo... might fall to #3. But still, I want to hear more about this NWR! Get on it!

The original was a blast on the DS. It's a shame so few people bought it.

Sometimes gamers really disappoint me.

TalkBack / Re: The PrE3view: What We Expect at E3 2013
« on: June 07, 2013, 10:57:32 PM »
Damn not only am I really getting hyped but this preview makes me want to run out and by a 3DS right-fuckin-now!

There are already a ton of great games for the 3DS! Yes, go buy one!

And I just hope we get more than 3 surprise games, 1st or 3rd party. Retro will count as one, GTA would honestly be enough from 3rd party. And Nintendo need to pull something out of its hat.

And a bit surprised Wii Fit U was not listed. You guys really don't believe Johnny Metts crazy theory, do you?

Expectations can't be much lower:
1) New Smash
2) New Mario 3D
3) A Mario Kart that plays just like the previous 7
4) Some Mario sports title for Wii U
5) Xenoblade sequel update

And my one outlandish hope:
They show 1, yes just 1, 3rd party big title not from Ubisoft coming to Wii U.

If Nintendo can't deliver on the above, then they have their own bar too low.

Hey guys, I made a big boo-boo, and saved while in Darm Tower on top of a bad guy. Now when I load, I die instantly.

Does anyone have a save file that you can post the password around Darm Tower (I'm at floor 9, but I'll take anything around there) or maybe an invincibility cheat I can put in for a minute to avoid dying instantly?

Any help would be great, thanks.

TalkBack / Re: The NWR Staff Chimes in on The Xbox One
« on: May 21, 2013, 10:45:36 PM »
I think the staff thinks how I thought about it.

Interesting stuff, but why upgrade from a Xbox 360 if you have one? All of the big games for the holiday are coming out for both Xbox 360 and PS3. I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I'm going to say by the end of 2014, PS3 and 360 will still be the main consoles.

Yes, you read that correctly. After the 2013 holiday, Xbone and PS4 are going to sell just as well as Wii U is now. Gamers don't want to pay $500-$600 for new consoles when their current consoles can play all the big games. No reason to upgrade unless you have to have the new hotness. Third parties are going to start saying, "Yeah, we like the market size of the 360 and PS3, so we'll stick with that."

The game industry is set for a crash - at least the console one.

And Nintendo is fine. Wii U can have it's year long slow start - 3DS is going to own the holiday thanks to Pokemon X and Y. Nintendo will be rolling in dough.

Edit: And the fact that you have to pay MS more money for each account on the Xbox for one disc that you own, and that you have to do an install key to play the game is a huge bad thing. What about people that don't connect to the internet? There is still like 30% of the gaming community that doesn't. Xbone not even an option for them - but some will buy, be pissed, take it back, and cause a REAL TV media backlash!

Hopefully I can be here for Monday. Was at work long and had to run tonight.

TalkBack / Re: No EA Games Currently in Development for Wii U
« on: May 17, 2013, 01:08:12 AM »
This is a big deal until the Nintendo Direct Friday morning. After that, Wii U owners are going to forget that EA exists. And hopefully, within a year or two, whichever console still stands between Sony and Microsoft will do the same. They aren't both surviving, they are two similar. PS4 or Durango - there aren't enough core gamers for both to exist.

Say what you will, but Nintendo and Wii U survive thanks to the dominance of the 3DS.

So folks, this will pass. Just relax.

146
I can see logic behind your thought. Having a stack of unplayed games is never a good thing, but....

Would you really read a book halfway through and not finish it? Sure, maybe if it was awful, but most times, you want to finish what you start. But I also don't just play one game at a time. I own several systems, so I try to have 1 or 2 games going on each, usually of different genres so depending on what I'm in the mood for that day, I'll go to that system.

For instance, right now on my currently playing list is:
Wii U: Monster Hunter TU/Punch Out
Wii: Ys Book I&II (still trying to finish up after starting it during Retroactive)
3DS: MHTU and Zelda II
DS: Pokemon machine at this point
PC: Portal 2
PS3: Currently nothing except for when my buddy has time to jump online and we play Dungeon Seige 3. One might say it's collecting dust, outside of being a Netflix/Blu Ray Player.

I do have a backloggery, xcwarrior for those interested, but I hate having games unplayed. But I also hate missing out on games that now cost a ton - like Ikaruga for GCN. So when I see a game cheap, I pick it up. I'll more than likely get to it eventually, I don't care if I'm playing the new hotness or not. And I also read reviews before buying a game, so rarely do I pick up bad games that I don't want to finish.

And to answer your question, good idea on the blog, keep it going.

TalkBack / Re: Madden Skipping Wii U in 2013
« on: May 02, 2013, 12:03:30 AM »
If Nintendo was smart, they would do a Nintendo All Stars Football game. Put characters from each franchise they have into it.

It would sell millions. No, really, it would. They need to forget the Japan fanbase, or have Retro do it. Or Next Level games. But make an American Football game already. With little effort (online play) it would be better than Madden.

148
This is a great move my Nintendo.

Folks, E3 is dying. The big 3 don't care about it anymore.

Look at today alone. When is the new Xbox being revealed? In May, BEFORE E3. Meaning their E3 Presentation is going to be crap in comparisson. And Nintendo probably will do a Nintendo Direct right around that same time instead of the E3 presentation.

Folks, E3 is going to be a demo fest this year. Good for game journalists, but that's it. Not going to need to watch a lot unless you really want to watch other people play demos.

Sony is going to follow suit. In future years, don't be surprised if E3 becomes big only for third parties.

Nintendo is staying ahead of the curve here. E3 is on it's way out - losing out to the digital world - and they are not going to be caught as the coffin closes on it.

Let's hope next week's releases are better. Ugh Nintendo. Ugh.

Give us new VC titles, not ones we already bought on Wii's virtual console.

TalkBack / Re: Satoru Iwata Named CEO of Nintendo of America
« on: April 24, 2013, 09:06:28 AM »
People retired, and they shuffled their duties onto other people in the company rather than hire new ones. It's called cutting costs by saving money on salaries.

Probably a good idea, Iwata's had pretty much complete say in all 3 territories as it is, so don't expect major changes. Just helps the bottom line.
