Well the Beem certainly kind of shares the same naming convention of the Wii:

- it's unusual
- hate it the first time you hear it
- sounds natural and better the more you think about it

77
And Sonic needs to stay, and Mega Man needs to be added.

Assuming Smash Bros has been in the works, its possible that Mega Man's odd exclusion from Marvel vs. Capcom 3 might be hinting toward his addition into another "fighting" franchise.

Don't have a ton of faith in that, but throwing it out there as possibility since Capcom's only statement was they seemed to feel he didn't fit in the game (which was odd, since he was in the first two).

I was very happy with Braw' because it got slowed the hell down. But all I care for now is a blanced as possibly fighter...

Agreed.

Also, of the three, Brawl is the most balanced of them. There is room for improvement, as pointed out with Snake, but its much better than the first (Captain Falcon>>>Jigglypuff) and Melee (Marth>>>Bowser) which had some regular chasms in balance between fighters.

I'd love to see another entry with more characters and balance as its focus.

It'd be cool if they started making interactive comics, where you touch a panel and it comes to life with either the words being said or the action being done.

That would be kind of cool. Like its a normal comic, but then it becomes a motion comic when you interact with it, ala these:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awww7E7S9sI

Would give people the option of enjoying either, whichever they prefer, or even both.

This seems like a really odd comment to make... is this why they didn't include him in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 because their was an internal misconception on his popularity in the West?

Well they can always make amends, now hearing the outcry, and port it to the Wii2/Project Café with him as an added character. ;-)

TalkBack / Re: Rumor Round-up: Nintendo's Next Console

The main problem I have with the 6" screen on the controller is the cost. Everyone is going to buy multiple controllers for their system, so wouldn't they all have this 6" screen? Seems like it would skyrocket the price, I can imagine it costing 90-100 for one controller

Nintendo might not actually care about the high controller price too much. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they were prepping a new "Wii Play"-like game for the system where people can feel better about swallowing a high controller price as long as a free game is included.

Its a model that worked on the Wii, although I'm not sure that would fly if it reached a total price of $100.

I think there is a problem with my account, because this topic is showing as being posted in "2011" rather than the correct 2005...

On point, I did like the music used in this ever since I first heard.

I'm really hoping for MvC3 to be honest, but I used to like Tekken3 back in the day.

Same. I'm holding out for a "3DS lite", but a Marvel vs. Capcom game on the 3DS would make the handheld an instant purchase for me.

In reality, this might be the first WiiWare game I get.

Paging UncleBob, I repeat, paging UncleBob...

Anyway, my collection is pretty modest. I have:

Advance Wars Duel Strike
Advance Wars Days of Ruin
Meteos
Yoshi's Touch and Go
Animal Crossing Wild World
New Super Mario Bros
Super Mario 64 DS
Mario Kart DS
Tetris DS
Mario & Luigi Partners in Time
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: March of the Minis
Pokémon Diamond
Yu-Gi-Oh Nightmare Troubadour

If I get a chance, I will take a picture of it later

I think everyone predicted the music genre was on the way out with recent sales...

...but I don't know about anyone else, but I'm shocked it happened so quickly. If I had to estimate the situation, I would have guessed it would have limped its way into the next console generation before finally falling off.

...most N64 games were $50, the same as most PS1 games...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure N64 games retailed for $50-60 versus PS1 games retailing for $30-40. Player's choice N64 games sold for $40, while PS1 Greatest Hits sold for $20-25 (I'm sure of the latter).

There was quite a difference in price.

No, take your example. Rock is neutral against Normal (in fact, only Ghost and Fighting are not neutral. Fighting is 2X and Ghost can't hit Normal types). Grass-Water-Fire hits that perfect balance.

Yeah, three types that are "rock, paper, scissors" where one isn't immune (i.e. can hit) but ineffective is hard. Electric-Ground-Water doesn't work as Ground is totally immune to Electric. Psychic-Bug-Fighting doesn't work as Bug doesn't resist Psychic.

In fact, the only two I can think of besides Grass-Fire-Water is Rock-Steel-Fire and Grass-Poison-Ground, and neither feels as "well rounded" as Grass-Fire-Water does.

This would be unlike Nintendo, but it would be rather cool if they were to release a 3DS patch for Pokemon Black and White that would not only display battle sequences in 3D, but allow the game to take advantage of such features like StreetPass and 3D AR.

More likely is that the third game in the Black and White "era" will come with these features instead than any kind of patching.

That's good to hear... but the pop-up is still pretty bad. Couldn't they have at least fixed that, as it's one of the more derided aspects of the N64 era (along with the "fog" games like Turok used to try and cover it up).

You seem pretty hung up on this. Your tone seems to indicate that you take this very personally, and even more disturbingly, relate it directly to theft. Maybe you were robbed as child and never got over it fully? I suppose that prolonged injustice could really warp a person's mind if left unresolved. You should save your videogame-buying money up and hire a therapist instead. :P:

Well that response seemed totally uncalled for...

General Gaming / Re: EA shutting down servers
« on: January 06, 2011, 05:25:50 PM »
Just to remind people, EA names its yearly sports title after the year that the season in question ends.  I believe that means that Madden NFL 10 covered the '09-'10 season.  That's how it works for NCAA Football, Tiger Woods, and (when it existed) NBA Live.  So at worst the games that are being pulled are two years old, not one year old.

Correct. However, they released the 2010 games at the end of Summer. So less than two years.

The worst is 2010 FIFA World Cup, as Ian points out, as that game came out just 8 months ago. The world cup might be over, but the difference in time between that and FIFA Soccer 2011 is only 6 months... are they really expecting soccer fans to have bought both the 2011 and World Cub versions in the same year?

EDIT: TJ Spyke pointed that out... I'm too slow it seems

Personally, I think it just sets a bad precedent. Some of these games are not that old, for example Madden 10 for the Wii came out 17 months ago.

It won't affect people who buy the games annually, which I'm sure EA is banking on, but those who pick up a new Madden "every several years" might be less happy with the news. I agree with broodwars that it's probably a small percentage, but I personally feel discontinuing online service for any game with "2010" in the title by early 2011 is bad form.

TalkBack / Re: Viacom Sells Harmonix to Privately Owned Company
« on: January 05, 2011, 01:16:33 AM »
I don't think Rock Band ever had any serious long-term strategy.  Otherwise the state of the genre wouldn't be so wierd right now.  Nor would they have pushed out their Wii product half a year late.  The export songs option wouldn't cost money to do.  Things like that.  I think Viacom gave Harmonix free reign over themselves and just expected profit to happen without looking at the general state of the market or their key consumers.

That's very possible too... it was just my assumption that they had a long term strategy, since they were losing money from the get go.

Also, my guess is they didn't expect the current state of the genre... I think they were predicting an "ever green franchise", ala Madden, where they could pump the games out year after year and see them hit the top ten charts. What they failed to calculate was that between them and Activison churning out music game after music game that people were going to get burned out of the genre pretty quick.

Interesting. Rock Band is a popular name so I'd have thought they'd want to keep the franchise, but I guess it wasn't making them enough money.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Rock Band not make them any money? I think the franchise was in the red since day one, and stayed that way. It was set up for a "long term strategy", which started to look foolish once the music genre became so oversaturated and consumer interest waned.

Did anyone beat this event without losing a life?

Yep, with Jigglypuff.

Anyway, Brawl has some much harder challenges than Melee did... I gave up the idea of getting all of the trophies in Brawl as some are just so hard.
