Nintendo Gaming / RE:How would a shooter work?
« on: March 10, 2004, 12:54:45 PM »
Working off the FPS idea... maybe one screen shows your view, while the other shows the view of your partner, 3rd person would be best to tell the difference. Kind of a Resident Evil 0-ish idea I suppose. Could add some great elements though, like you can tell when your partner needs back up and you need to haul your ass to where he is to help.

Why we are on the topic of Disney Urban Legends, I suggest checking this page out:

http://www.snopes.com/disney/films/films.asp

Anyway, what was the verdict on that family that sued Nintendo beacuse the child injured their hand while playing Mario Party (1) for the N64? The game had a warning in the manual about it, and even then I think Nintendo lost the suit and that is why the game is "banned" in the US. The courts can be a odd place sometimes, perhaps Nintendo was just acting through experience?

Atari/Infogrames has made this mistake as well when they ported over a enhanced version of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee to the Xbox. The producers actually expected the port to sell as well as the GCN version... I mean, really? First off, its a port which took awhile to come out, second off, Xbox (as Ian Sane mentioned) is about as "western" as you can get in terms of video game tastes. So the port bombs... but, what pisses me off, is that companies refuse to go screaming to the media over their lack of success with the Xbox on particular titles, when GCN's lack of success with particular genres seems widespread in terms of video game news.  What really makes me mad though is that these companies fail to drop support for the Xbox beacuse of it as well. -_-'

This game is going to drive me into the poor house... along with other releases this month. Hell, I'm still going through FF: CC and then Harvest Moon, Phantasy Star Online III, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, and Pokémon Colleseum all out this month... God, I just realized I would have killed for a month like this in the N64 days, and now that its here my wallet is going to kill me

As Bill mentioned, this rumor has been around forever... and at this point, there doesn't appear to be any new information which would make me take it as even a remote hope as of yet.

Neither would I; however, an enhanced remake would have me very, very, interested.

If EA were to remake Goldeneye007 with graphics slightly better than Everything or Nothing (they were pretty good, but not great) throw perhaps the lost stage (Cathedral) and then, working off the idea set by Goldeneye007, add some more secret levels based on previous bond films or newly created events based on past characters (exa. Samedi in Egypt) to unlock. But, what I would really want, is a overhauled multiplayer. One that is on par with Time Splitters 2 and Perfect Dark, with lots of bots and such but with the classic Goldeneye levels. Furthermore, open up some of those levels that never made it in the final product, like the Cradle. Oh, and while we are at it, throw in some more Bond based characters from other movies for multiplayer (like Blofield from You Only Live Twice), along with different versions of Bond to conside with the different actors. Oh, and perhaps address the unbalanced characters, like Oddjob. Then, add voice work from the Goldeneye 007 actors from the actual film, and I'm sold, it would be EA's best Bond game, without a doubt.

Unless he can scream his bloody head off for back up

Anyway, if EA does make another Goldeneye game... I hope to god that they include a secret level or two. I love the Egypt level with Baron Samedi, such a cool and under used villian.

"Electronic Arts and Marvel Enterprises have today announced a deal that will see EA developing fighting games that pit super heroes from the Marvel universe against new EA heroes."

Seems I was right, these characters will be all new. So its Marvel vs. Generic Heroes: All Star Match!

Personally, I would rather just see more Marvel characters, than whatever EA can come up with.

I get the impression, from readin this, that EA is just going to make up characters for the game, which haven't been seen in any Marvel Comic/Movie/Cartoon; however, these characters EA makes will be featured in future Marvel Comics it sounds like.

Also, I want Marvel vs. Capcom 3... ;_;

« on: January 14, 2004, 10:59:16 AM »
Call me a optmistic, but... first off I will agree that for $20 that would be crazy (if it had Super Dodge Ball, however, I would be all over it). However, let's assume it's released in the US, these carts would most likely be sold for very cheap used. Personally, it would be hard for me to pass up a $7 used copy of this.

Anyway, as others have stated, this cart should have WAY more games on it. If they would have thrown in Super Dodge Ball, Punch Out, River City Ransom, Fire Emblem (translated), Fire Emblem Gaiden (translated), Famicom Wars (translated) and the NES Tetris (simply beacuse I would be to lazy to dig out the GB version), then that would have been a awesome package, and more than merit a purchase.

"Then every place that sells games is greedy. Even Wal-Mart wants $49 for it. "

Wal-Mart? Greedy? ...surprise, surprise

Sorry, I just found your example funny. Anyway, if you have a Best Buy around you might try to hit them up and see if they have a copy, they always have good prices on older software, if they have em in stock.

Interesting... I wonder if the game is going to be a light gun game, sure would be sweet, as long as it came with a light gun that is.

Anyway, the flash game was pretty bad, IMO, but its still nice to see Capcom make a effort.

General Chat / RE:registering my stuff on my nintendo?
« on: January 05, 2004, 02:00:21 PM »
I noticed this too, and was rather worried at first. However, all you need to do is "sign out" and then "sign in" again and it should update what you have registered.

What was really scaring me was that I registered Double Dash, Mario & Luigi, GBA, and GBA SP and still no bonus disc. So I just registered my GCN too and, bingo, that got it.

My Sega Soccer Slam doesn't have the "Only For" and I got it a month after release, also my Sonic Mega Collection doesn't have the "Only For" as well.

Possibly beacuse Sega wanted to leave the option to port it if they choose? Anyway, I didn't know the "Only For" has been wrong so often this generation... :-/

Right, but I was talking about JUST Nintendo, I realize that there are several examples for where the Xbox "only for" didn't stay true, I was just wondering if "Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee" is infact the only Nintendo game where this happend.

Nintendo Gaming / When is the "Only For" not only for?
« on: December 30, 2003, 06:56:07 AM »
Ok, just got to wondering. Have there ever been any games released on a Nintendo system with the "Only For" logo on them that were then ported to another system, one from the same generation, under the same title?

The only game I can think of is "Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee" which was ported to the Xbox, and I was just wondering if there are anymore? Just for curiosities sake.

« on: December 24, 2003, 11:07:37 PM »
I have to agree with mouse_clicker in terms of how online relates to the current crop of systems.

A pet peeve of mine are the people who continue to site this as the reason GCN is "behind." I can assume they develop this assumption beacuse:
A. They are online already, posting on a Nintendo forum, and would be likely to use online play
B. They talk to other people in the same boat, already online willing to play, and develop the assumption that this is the majority and what Nintendo needs to be "#1"

Call me crazy, but I feel Nintendo needs the average gamer. Not sure if anyone has been in a college dorm lately, but these are the people Nintendo needs to reach. The ones who only have GTA, racing games, and numerous sports games. These are also the people who hardly play their system but for maybe 1-2 hours a week. These are NOT the type of people who would be interested in online play unless it came ready to use, out of the box, without additional charges or any set up.

I wouldn't count it out yet. This is Infogrames/Atari after all.

Same company who released Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee for the cube as "Only on Gamecube™" before porting it over to the Xbox (probably the worst move they could have made, the people envolved actually expected the port to sell AS WELL as the GCN version, despite it being a port and the tastes of Xbox gamers not really going for a game like Godzilla). If the port of Budokai on GCN sells atleast decent it might have a shot of getting it.

"Arnold S. is an awsome governor if you ask me...did you hear some of his come backs he said while he was running?"

>_>

Your joking right? Atleast about the reason that you like him, or think he is a "awesome," as a governor. I mean, has he really done anything yet?

1. Said he won't be accepting the money alloted for him as Governer = Good
2. Removed higher vehicle license fee putting more money in CA vehicle owner's pockets = Good
3. Removed higher vehicle license fee costing the state $500 million and increasing the year's defecit by $4 billion = Bad
4. Examining asking voters to approve that CA can borrow up to $20 billion = Doesn't sound hopeful

I really don't see anything there to qualify the man, atleast in terms of him as a governor (Not a actor), as being "awesome." This doesn't mean he couldn't turn around and solve the state's budget problem, but I feel its a little too early to start singing the man false praise at this point in the game.

Nintendo Gaming / GCN is still in 2nd worldwide, right?
« on: October 24, 2003, 04:46:20 PM »
Ok, someone is bugging me by telling me that the GCN is no longer in 2nd place worldwide, and Xbox has taken that title. I think the person just is confusing the US with the worldwide figures...

Anyway, is the GCN still 2nd worldwide, and if so does anyone have a link that states so?

Thanks in advance.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:the deal with the new star wars?
« on: October 23, 2003, 10:13:41 PM »
"I'm buying it for the co-op more than anything cause people are saying that that's pretty tough."

It is very hard. I whizzed through the game already having a Silver on all the regular (single player) levels of Rebel Strike, and for reference got all the Golds on RL.... but the co-op has been handing me and my sister our ass.

She isn't that bad, but the AI has improved, there are more enemies, they take more hits to kill, and some of the levels have been redesigned to adds stuff... its just so much harder than RL or RS. If you have someone to play the co-op with I highly suggest Rebel Strike.

" Bought and beat the game in under 6 hours. I had more fun with RL2."

I second that, but I am still having fun with this game. Although I wish to personally kill the person who thought that Trial of a Jedi would be in the least bit fun....

Also, co-op is freaking awesome.
