OMG, precendent for a joke in the movie...

The gameplay advice section is priceless though.

$30 for a 512 MB SD card is pretty step, considering Bestbuy tends to discount that data range to about half that price (although the normal price is $25).

Wonder what they will charge in the US for it. As some other have pointed out, you can also save a ton on those by ordering online at the right places.

I am sooo getting this game with my Wii.

Can anyone comment on the overall difficulty of the game versus the first though? Gamespot complained that the bosses were too hard, but I thought the first was way too easy near the end so I actually hope that the challenge has been ramped up for this one.

Well this is a marketing class, but the correct answer was "Penetration".

Oh, and I'm still laughing at Ian's second example.

Odd topic title I know, but this thread is basically asking for any examples of Nintendo being used or brought up in the classroom by a teacher or other faculty (something not related to actual student conversations or presentations as I'm sure that's not uncommon).

Anyway, my inspiration for this topic came from a question on my Marketing exam (college level):

Nintendo chose a ___________ approach to pricing the new Nintendo DS because they felt the market for this product is price sensitive, there are major economies of scale to be achieved, and both Sega and Microsoft would be introducing new game systems shortly?

Just can't keep Sega down...

Fully agree. It looks great, but that loading time is looking dreadful. I hope that is fixed by launch, although I kind of doubt that it will be.

Shift Key had it exactly right. It has nothing to do with how easy it is to develop DVD support, but more to do with if its really worth the extra licensing fee to add it. That whole licensing fee is also the very reason why Sony and Toshiba are ready to kill each other for the "next generation" of the movie format: they both want those fees headed their way.

Anyway, this is great news. I don't think I would ever use it, but it's always nice to have another feature that third parties could use if they wanted to.

If that's one of the titles they select, then yeah. Although it mentions nothing in that particular release and, as far as we know, could be stuff like Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and what not; titles which they figure they couldn't port and sell again on a current handheld.

I am looking forward though to possibly getting Chrono Trigger, Ogre Tactics 64 and EVO if available.

I believe the N64 was actually much more profitable than the GCN was for Nintendo, the reason not only being units sold but that a great deal of those "Player's Choice - Million Sellers" were Nintendo first party titles. So they were definitely pushing software during that generation, even if it was primarly their own.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Wii Box Art
« on: October 06, 2006, 09:04:45 AM »
I'm not a huge fan of the Wii emblem there, although not bad; however, I do agree some of the box art is nice, with my particular favorites being: Zelda, Red Steel, Super Monkey Ball and Marvel Ultimate Alliance (love the art on that, especially for Ghost Rider).

"So are these DVD cases again? "

Who knows, although I imagine it's probably a good chance that they will be the regular Amaray cases as it would likely be cheaper to go that route.

Yes, I love that set. Criterion really did a fantastic job restoring that film and I was so happy when the first scene came up and it wasn't plagued by a ton of print damage.

Oh, nice choices. I also love "Throne of Blood" and "Yojimbo", which is my second favorite Kurosawa film behind "Seven Samurai". I overall tend to prefer his older films as opposed to his newer, 1980's and beyond productions, although "Ran" is a fantastic film. "Ikiru" along with "High and Low" are some others ones that I very much enjoy from Kurosawa, and the only one that wasn't quite my cup of tea (although I wouldn't say I disliked it by any stretch) is the "Lower Depths".

Yeah, Criterion does a good job of picking some of the cream of the crop from Toho's vast library of films. I love Hiroshi Inagaki's Samurai trilogy, especially the first although that seems to be an unpopular preference in that regard. The current region 1 discs for those films aren't so hot, though, and I really wish Criterion would spring for an enhanced release sometime in the near future.

Speaking of other Criterion titles, have you ever seen Kihachi Okamoto's "Sword of Doom" or Masaki Kobayashi's "Samurai Rebellion"? Those are another two, non-Kurosawa, gems from Criterion.

It's not bad I guess, I was just really disappointed with the video quality, especially the cropping at the top. Someone really needs to restore that film.

The opportunity rarely comes up on any forum, PGC included... ;-)

But yeah, Japanese cinema as a whole tends to interest me, although I'm much more into their live action films then animation, which tends to be a rare preference.

It's something to take away from the Xbox 360 actually. Right now, Oblivion is one of those few titles to tout about why to get the system (most people ignore the PC angle anyway), so having it appear on another system is getting devots uneasy, much in the same way that people around here were uneasy when RE4 was announced for the PS2 (although that was even worse considering Capcom did so before the GCN version was even released...).

...shares in Sony Corp. fell to a 2-1/2-month low today (Monday) over news of continued problems with batteries made by Sony for laptop computers. Analysts estimated that the recall of Sony batteries could wind up costing the company some $420 million. In a note to clients, Koichi Ogaawa of Daiwa SB Investments, commented, “Without a doubt this is damaging for Sony. However, we've been hearing about this recall for some time, so there is also no need for panic.” Most analysts said that the real damage was a public relations one -- tarnishing Sony’s reputation as an elite maker of trouble-free products.

Clearly these analysts have never purchased a PS2...

Was Factor 5 ever second party? I mean some of their games like Roque Squadron also ended up on the PC. Their situation seemed to be just that they prefered to work with Nintendo, much in the same way that last generation Tecmo seemed to prefer working on the Xbox.
