TalkBack / Re: Details On The Next Spider-Man Game Surface

The eyes look like Venom or Carnage, as both have the same design. The odd thing is that the light in the background shows through the mouth... is there a hole going through there? If so, could point toward it being the zombie one although the eye design doesn't match.

I put more faith in it being a symbiote. Doing some research, there is a dimension where Spider-man has merged with Carnage and appeared in Exiles and is designated as Earth 15 in terms of dimension. They also came across a Demon Spider-man in a dimension as well. Problem is that those are super obscure. Casual comic fans know of Noir and 2099... but the others I mentioned are one issue things.

The only dimension popular enough that is left is zombie that could fit with the clue, but I really hope its not and the symbiote thing is true even if it would deviate from the others revealed.

Going from the comics, is there such a thing as an existing dimension that would allow for a "symbiote one"?

So far all of the dimensions have been from comics (616 Streamline, Noir, 2099). The only dimension I can think of for this one is Zombie, but I hope its not that one and the mouth does look more like Carnage than Zombie Spider-man.

It could be something based on the short lived Spider-Carnage, but that wasn't its own dimension:

I'd put Darkside before DSE, but agree that Umbrella Chronicles was the best of the lot.

In regards to the game's image, I found Dead Space Extraction to be lackluster... I much preferred the two rail Resident Evil titles.

Nice, and Spider-man 2099 is looking good. Wonder if the Vulture will be the notable bad guy from that dimension.

I haven't checked in awhile, but does anyone know if Godzilla Unleashed was added yet? I was quite disappointed to not see it listed as it probably only would have been behind Smash Bros and Mario Kart in playtime.

The site itself had embedded data in the flash files that revealed long ago that it would be coming to the iPhone.  Remember how there was a fourth, secret platform on the site?  That's what it was, and the images revealing that were discovered.

Oh okay, never mind then

Is it not possible that it was mostly delayed for a simultaneous launch across all platforms (iTunes being the new addition), and that they are adding in a few extra fan inputs to make the delay seem less economics focused?

In terms of Bond soundtracks, I prefer "From Russia With Love", "The Living Daylights", and "Casino Royale". Those are the best three IMO.

However, I do love the "Destroy Silicon Valley" theme from "A View to a Kill"... it's oddly creepy, and a standout theme from the franchise as a whole.

Total of parts and estimated labor.

Not to mention the person turned around and sold it for $5,000... that leaves little doubt that not only was it worth over $100, but that the person who found it was aware of that fact as well.

So if I found a phone in a public restroom and took pictures of it and posted it on my employers blog, then the original owners contacted me and asked for their phone back and I said yes, several days later a judge could issue a search warrant to seize my personal computers?

Bull.

Living in CA and in the same complex as a sheriff's office, you are missing the key fact that it was noted as being lost and is worth more than $100, which means that the following law applies:

"If the true owner is not known and the [lost] item is worth more than $100, then the finder has a duty to turn it over to the local police department within a reasonable time. Id. § 2080.1.  The owner then has 90 days to claim the property. Id. § 2080.2. If the true owner fails to do so and the property is worth more than $250, then the police publish a notice, and 7 days after that ownership of the property vests in the person who found it, with certain exceptions."

Clearly the finder did not do the following, although I would assume the law would be more interested in the original person who found it rather than the one who bought it (the aspect that they knew it was lost was a dumb move on their part to publicly tout that fact).

Wii not able to handle the game? Come on now.

Of course Wii could handle it if Capcom wanted to, with some downgrades to visuals. That's not the problem, but the fact that Capcom is pretty unlikely to port it to the system is (as mentioned further down, we never got Street Fighter 4 after all).

I'm seriously puzzled that everyone wants this game on Wii. We just got Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. It's a Wii exclusive! It's not coming to the other systems! That's GOOD, isn't it?

Because it's Marvel vs. Capcom... Marvel is a huge property, and has gained traction with the success of the movies lately, so of course there will be a bigger interest for this title. Plus the 3 vs 3 format appeals to some more than 2 vs 2 (as Tatsunoko had).

Tatsunoko vs Capcom is an awesome game, don't get me wrong, but I'd trade it for those other two games in a heat beat (specially MvC3).

I will take Tatsunoko vs. Capcom over Street Fighter 4, as I like that style more, but I agree that I would take Marvel vs. Capcom over... well any of those without a second thought.

I'm hoping for a Wii announcement at E3. Seriously, I need to play to this game on my Wii!

I'm right there with you... although sadly I think there is zero chance of Capcom porting it to the Wii.

Honestly, I think there is a better chance of seeing it ported to Wii2 (or whatever it turns out to be) than the Wii... sadly. :-(

Surprised to see no mention of it here, but Capcom announced the third entry in the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise. Here is the Youtube video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzvE7e94Z_A

As expected, no Wii version because Capcom hates us:

Quote
The title, which will likely feature more than 30 characters to   choose from and feature 3-on-3 tag team fighting, hits the Playstation 3   and Xbox 360 in spring 2011. There currently are no plans for an   arcade, computer or Wii version of the title, Capcom tells Kotaku.
http://kotaku.com/5518024/marvel-vs-capcom-3-will-be-a-living-comic-with-a-deep-story

The only sour note (aka, trying to lessen the pain of being ignored) is that it will feature a "deep story", which for me is kind of a turn off for fighting games... I tend to like minimal story with more of a focus on other aspects.

Still, I really want this game, but really don't have the budget to go multiplatform (still haven't even saved up the money for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom)... but Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was the game which made me break down to buy a Dreamcast so I'm quite sad (although not surprised) to see Capcom overlook the Wii.

Advance Wars DS also used it with Advance Wars 2.

Overall, I don't miss the lack of use of the feature to be honest.

Poison got nerfed pretty bad, and never really recovered.

It used to be super effective against Bug types, but from Gold/Silver on that was removed. Then they added Steel which was immune to Poison and it reduced an already lackluster attack type to just being for Toxic (although to be fair, Poison didn't have any good attacks until Sludge Bomb and other things were introduced much later).

As a Defensive type, it can be very good as long as the user can avoid Earthquake. So Weezing, Gengar, and the Poison/Flying Pokémon are all good choices there.

As for Grass? Eh... that's not good defensively or offensively, which in itself makes Poison even less useful since that's all its good against.

Nintendo is doing this sort of thing too often, I am really starting to get the impression they are doing this intentionally, knowing full well what is going to go through peoples' heads when they read this.

Well yeah. Its like the "Size Does Matter" campaign for Godzilla... of course they realized what people would think, and they did that because it gets people talking about it which is the whole intent of marketing.

The games are designed so that EVs and IVs only matter if you plan on playing in tournaments. If you just play the computer opponents then you don't have to even think about them (I don't play other in tournaments since none ever come here and I don't even think about EV/IV when playing).

If you play online, EVs become a huge factor. IVs? Not so much, that is when you reach that super competitive cusp. EVs? Those are far more important.

Maybe they should give each Pokemon a 5th move slot, but have it be only for HMs. This would allow people to avoid having a HM slave in their team.

I really like this idea.

I don't think they should slash the number of Pokemon, as that's part of the allure is the huge number, or so much types... but I'm fine with them getting ride of Dark since its really ambiguous and was created more as a anti-psychic at the time that's no longer needed.

I agree though that the EV crap has to go. It's such a cumbersome and annoying process, along with IVs. Having to do that really zaps the fun out of super competitive play.

Different versions? That's interesting... wonder what the chances are of the other two being Spectacular and the previously mentioned 2099?

I assume ape and Spider-ham are a bit too goofy for this, but those are some other possible dimensions. I hope it's not Zombie, as I never cared for that line.

They need to add new types I think to truly make a game similar to Gold/Silver.

I'm pretty sure they haven't added new types because that would greatly increase the complexity of the game. There are a LOT of types as is right now anyway.

Creating new types would get some buzz, and people excited, but in the long term there would probably be a demand to "simplify" later down the road to the days of old.

Rather than introducing new types, a better idea would be to just improve old ones. Grass is pretty lackluster, and poison is worthless as an attack type and a defense type (unless your name is Koffing and you can scoff at Earthquakes).

Personally I think that Guitar Hero is contributing to that far more than Rock Band is, but I see your point.

I agree fully. It's unfortunate because as far as I know they are still in the red with Rock Band. Given the reduced sales of this genre, they have little option than to continue to pump out releases as otherwise Activision will milk it all to themselves. Regardless of the situation, though, it's hard to deny that this genre is getting ready to burn out consumers at a phenomenal rate.

Four years, six games in this series (assuming this and Green Day ship this year). Time to start a countdown clock for the irrelevance of this genre for video games.

How come the Japanese turned their backs on Nintendo during the GC era when they had been supportive of them in the past?

Pretty sure the mass exodus in Japan happened during the N64 era, actually. The Sega Saturn was far more relevant there than other markets too.
