Okay, which is a good point about the Wii's current situation... but this is in the handheld arena. GBA was untested its generation, while the DS is way ahead of the PSP. The excuse in this regard by Konami is pretty thin.

Well they have updated the site again, this time with Kirby and Pikachu.... meh.

I was considering busting out the old "OMG, MEGATON!" thing with that... but yeah...

At least we have some more pictures.

That analogy might work in the case of this article... if you add in a part where they are predicting that the car in first (well, it's not quite there yet) is going to crash and be overtaken eventually...

I'm pretty sure it has now, particularly due to strong performance in the US... although it has lost even more ground in Japan in contrast, which is really bad considering that the PS3 isn't doing hot there either now.

I've got a Chikorita and a Cyndiquil, will trade those for one of the birds, depending on nature although failing that Moltres will do.

*from the article*

"Do and end-run around the 360 by communicating that the PS3 as the "ultimate Blu-Ray player" to even a non-game audience."

Uh, yeah, no... Color me crazy, but I don't see people, especially non-gamers, suddenly rushing to get a $600 system that's "the ultimate Blu-Ray player".

Also, anyone else laugh how his response to the NPD figures was 90% on the PS3 and 360, and then slipped in a quick paragraph at the end about how:

"As for your question about Nintendo storming to first place, it's creating concern but not panic."

It might merit more conversation on that point alone... but considering he was a former writer for the Official Xbox Magazine, I somehow doubt he would be the most unbiast source anyway.

I hope the Final Smash does a diverse pool of things for different characters, ala Ganondorf becoming Ganon or something to that effect. Powerful techniques, but with incredibly varied results.

Snake has his own stage too, which is the first snow "section" from Metal Gear Solid. There is also a Fire Emblem stage (the castle both inside and outside), Pit's cloud stage, the Mario Kart stage, the Yoshi's Island stage and Fox's stage (and I'm probably missing even more).

So far the first post is just stuff from smashbros.com mainly; if you are having trouble keeping up with that, they do have a last update portion of the site:

The game took the fighting genre in a new direction, toward simple to execute moves and a new objective to knock opponents off of stages, not to mention items. However, I don't see how that's spoofing SF, unless you have a quote stating just that from one of the creators. Clay Fighters, now that was a spoof although it still fit into the fighting cliche mold. I do have a feeling that your general dislike of the Street Fighter franchise is tainting your feelings here, and personally I wouldn't mind Ryu being included at all, and he wouldn't seem out of place in the least amongst Captain Falcon, Snake and Link.

Gamepro: Now that the launch dust has settled, it appears the PS3's reception is improving. What do you attribute that to?

I think you would be hard pressed to find a product launch in the past several years that matched the buzz generated by PS3. The amount of coverage that came out of the launch was staggering. It even surpassed when [Sega, who Dave formerly worked for] launched the Dreamcast, if you can believe it!

And that worked out so well for Sega too in the long run

Well, it was good enough that Hudson re-released it as a licensed game based on the Gunhed franchise, which of course was infinitely better than the NES game Toho themselves made, and then re-re-released it as a Gold edition with the Gunhed name again.

So clearly someone liked it. I never cared for it much myself, but then I have never been a huge fan of the genre in general.

However, I don't think the composer list is hinting at anything. I'm not sure if Sony owns the Wild Arms franchise, but even if they don't, the series has never been on a Nintendo platform yet Michiko Naruke (the Wild Arms series composer) is contributing to Brawl's soundtrack. I think the point of employing so many composers is to get different styles into the game to mostly remix old favorites like the Super Mario Bros. theme. I like the idea of hearing different composers interpretations of classic themes.

Looking at the list again I, sadly, think you are right. I just noticed that the person behind the music for the Golden Sun series is the one who composed the new menu theme... so it would seem likely that much of this talent could be taking a swing at stuff unrelated to the their resume.

If there are future Kingdom Heart games slotted for the Wii/DS that we don't know about that are currently in the works, then his chances would be pretty good.

Thinking about it more... perhaps there would just be a Killer7 level? Perhaps not a character from the franchise, but a stage to still represent it? My thought drifted there with the inclusion of somethings that I couldn't picture a character from, such as:

Seiji Momoi - METEOS

A Meteos stage would be pretty neat, for example, as would a Animal Crossing stage (even if no characters from that game make it in).

Still thrilled to see such a huge roster of talent too. Probably don't want to set myself up for dissapointment, though, based on the possibilities of it all.
