Nintendo Gaming / RE: Pokemon Battle Revolution--is it worth it?!
« on: June 21, 2007, 04:12:09 PM »
Considering how rampant hacking is (Wonder Gaurd Spiritombs, etc), I'm not sure I would really want to play the game online with "random" people.

But have you ever seen a NC-17 movie get a wide theatrical release? Show Girls is the only exception, which was seen as testing the waters... and failed at doing so, which reduced the rating to art house showings. If three companies owned all theaters in the US, to do a good connection with consoles, I think NC-17 in general wouldn't be screened at all. So I really don't see the current situation to be all that surprising.

...why are you comparing AO to an R rating? R is 17, so is "Mature" in the ESRB. The best parellel is with X, which became NC-17 in 1990.

Mario games had no voice work at all when Super Mario RPG came out... unless you are talking about Hotel Mario.

$5 says it's an empty promise. If saying something like that convinces people to buy PS3s now, instead of later, it's probably more than worth whatever backlash will happen when the time comes and people actually discover that it was a lie or hope on their part, which would be the best way to spin it.

Wow. So Konami got the developer of the pretty tepid Godzilla: Domination for the GBA to make this game?

Nintendo Gaming / Take Two (2K/Rockstar) to "focus" on DS and Wii

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but:

To be perfectly frank, I don’t think it takes a rocket scientist to realize what’s going on with Wii and DS. I will tell you that very quickly we turned to both 2K and to Rockstar and said guys, we need a DS strategy and a Wii strategy and we are working on it. As we get into the next quarter and into budget season for 2008, everybody in this company is completely focused on it.

Always good to hear; however, he does go on to say:

Having said that, development cycles are long.

So it's clear the support is a ways off, although it's great to hear that level of positive remarks from a company which has traditionally stayed away from Nintendo's offerings.

Honestly can't wait until they get to talking about Kirby's Final Smash...

Umm... well, cause no one else mentioned it: the PSP just had a price drop, so of course hardware is going to surge, regardless of software sales.

I think the real news here is the lack of surge in the 360, despite the Elite coming onto the market... in fact, it dropped compared to last month.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Do you regret getting RE 4 on Cube?
« on: June 18, 2007, 08:03:00 AM »
I sold my RE4 for $20 the day the Wii news hit... so not at all. ;-)

RE4 was one of those games that more than merited paying the full retail price too, so I would have easily paid out the full sum back when it was first released, even if I knew that a superior Wii version was slated for a few years later.

Thought: perhaps don't use her Final Smash then if you don't want to change playstyles?

To be fair to Namco:

Perhaps SC4 has been awhile in development already, way before everyone got to see the PS3 leap out of the gates and trip on its own two feet?

I guess I'm the only one who thought Golden Axe II was almost on par with the first... it was much easier, that's for sure, but as a kid that helped make the co-op much more enjoyable when playing with those less skilled at the title. I thought the increased selection of animals to ride was nifty as well, too... *shrugs*

...ly weak for a format trying to take the place of an established one, especially compared to past examples of this happening like Super 8 vs. VHS and then VHS vs. DVD. ;-)

The format will find its niche, much like Laserdiscs did, but I can't find myself interested in it... especially seeing as how the more obscure titles, especially Japanese cinema, is going to pass it by.

In this case, nothing is being forced, and, due to the nature of the market, chances are more people will be playing with the Wiimote than anything else, as that's what they bought with the system.

I don't see any reason for concern, it's not like they are forcing everyone to use the GCN controller, and to suggest that Smash Bros morph enough that it wouldn't be possible anymore on a traditonal controller seems kind of rash considering: how beloved the franchise is, that this is only the third game in the series, and it's coming half a decade after the last was released. There is hardly any concern for burn out, or anything else that would demand a huge overhaul in the formula.

All four options? Man that's awesome... probably give both of the Wii options a try, but I wouldn't be surprised if I find myself sticking with the Wavebird when all is said and done.

Unless certain modes force certain play styles... which I kind of hope not as I don't want to have to juggle around controllers for "adventure" mode or something.

I don't know. There were a lot of casual Xbox users, and Halo does appeal to a large sum of that group from the previous generation.

My bet, though, is that the price is the biggest hurdle for a lot of the previous owners who haven't gotten on board yet.

Not complaining, just saying there is not much to get excited about with today's update compared to some previous ones, like with Groudon.
