The game should never pause to tell you that you've achieved something.  It should either be an unintrusive pop-up during gameplay, or something that you're told after you complete a level.  That's how it's done in all 360 games, and it works beautifully.

Are there some good YouTube videos we can look at for comparison?  That would be helpful.

I never liked BlackBerries either before the Curve.  The Curve is CRAZY tiny for what it is (a smartphone with a full keyboard).  I could have bought the Pearl, but I didn't like the keyboard.  The old BlackBerries are hilariously big and clunky.  If you're looking for something small, then yeah, touchscreen is definitely your way to go.  Eliminates the need for having to dedicate real estate to the keyboard keys.

I'd describe the BlackBerry Browser as "functional" and nothing more.  Bear in mind that I bought the Curve for email (my corporate server is BlackBerry, so I can get work and personal email on the same device), not web browsing, so the browser is kind of a neat little extra.  However, it can't do Flash, so video is out of the question, and on EDGE it's pretty slow.  I can do what I need to do (get to GMail, use the NWR forums, check ESPN.com, etc.) but the entire experience is stripped-down.

I could install Opera, but that's just another application clogging up my BB's memory.  I've had it installed in the past and I always had crashes.  Maybe I'll try a newer version.

The only place where I thought the game seriously dragged was in the middle when you're going through the fort.  The rest of the game is wave after wave of enemies, but the environments are kept fresh enough that it doesn't get boring.

OK, I cancelled my pre-order of this because there is simply SO MANY OTHER GAMES I need to pay for.  I had to draw the line somewhere.  This is going to be great, though.

It makes you wonder if, despite their similar hardware, there are some things that GameCube does better than Wii.

I wish there was a mobile phone stripped to its essential... a phone.

I think the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer has one of these.

Didn't mean to geek out this thread, but back when I was comparing the Curve and HTC before I purchased a smartphone I kinda went overboard.

BlackBerrys also have built-in GPS (the Bold will have GPS, WiFi, and 3G a.k.a. the Holy Trinity).  Do you know how it compares to the HTC stuff?

I believe the HTC Dream is going to be the first HTC Android phone.

The draw with Uncharted is the amazing graphics, likeable characters, and great story.  It really is like playing through Romancing the Stone or one of those over-the-top 80's adventure movies.

At this point I wouldn't pay full price; I'm sure it'll be a GH title soon.

From what I've read about the iPhone, it's a better mobile device than it is an actual phone.  My Curve is rock-solid as a handset.

That's the one criticism I've heard for this game, is that the waggle to shake coins out of bags gets old pretty quickly.

I love HTC phones, they're awesome.  For me it came down to the BB Curve vs. the HTC Windows Mobile phone (I forget what it's called, it's the one with the slideout keyboard).  I liked the Curve because of its small size and long battery life.  Having a full-fledged IE browser in my pocket would be cool, but it's not absolutely necessary.  I can do everything I absolutely need to do with my BB Browser.

I checked it out.  Pretty cool.  So, enter is supposed to work?  It looks like mine was in some sort of larger editing mode, in which Enter was just a carriage return instead of a Send.

My constantly negative attitude was having a detrimental impact on the forums.  I changed my viewpoint on things 180 degrees when I realized that the very same behavior that I was exhibiting - and therefore encouraging - was the type of behavior that, as a staff member,  I should be discouraging by leading by example.

Honestly. It's a big reason why I don't visit this place much anymore.

Stick around.  Things will be a lot friendlier around here going forward.

They'll have to pry my BlackBerry Curve from my cold, dead hands.  I'm very interested in Android (the iPhone has never impressed me, mainly due to its poor battery life, non-tactile keyboard, and lack of basic functionality like copy'n'paste), but I'll likely be going with a BlackBerry Bold when my contract comes up this December.

The PS3 is larger than the 360, actually.  It's a little longer.

The problem the 360 has in Japan is its games, pure and simple.  Look at the games that own Japan: Wii Anything, Brain Training, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter.  The 360 doesn't have any games like that to hang its hat on, and they aren't coming either.

There's certainly a Japanese audience for Western FPSes and RPGs (Oblivion did fairly well in Japan, if I recall), but it's not a massive one.  You'll get your sales spikes for 360-exclusive fan favorites (Ninja Gaiden 2, Ace Combat 6, Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery), but aside from that there isn't much to appeal to the mainstream Japanese audience, as I see it.

Welcome to Lindyville.

I love grinding in RPGs.  I don't know why, I can do it forever.  In FFVII I grinded all my characters up to Level 99, which took about three days straight.

If somebody's smart, they'll buy the rights to those games and put them up somewhere.  As digital distribution matures, I'm sure we'll see that.

The PS3 is really popular in Europe, apparently.  Moreso than Japan.
