Its got at least double the titles of SurperGrafx, though I don't know of any killer exclusives aside from Knuckles Chaotix.  ;)

Wasn't that the show with Britney Spears and Kevin Federline?

The podcast is alive and well!  We had some technical difficulties again this week, but we should be able to deliver it (kinda) on time.  Maybe.

Yep, it supports custom soundtracks.  Nothing's better than blasting through levels to "Nuthin' But a G Thang".

Pretty funny actually, the song I was least looking forward to playing was "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac.  It turned out that that song RULES on the drums.  It's a little difficult at first, but it's a fairly long song and by the end you're pretty well-adjusted to the combos they throw at you.  And the combos are FUN.

The LBP Beta would be nice, but the Resistance 2 Public Beta is my bread and butter.  I gotta get into that or I'll cry, scrunch my face up, and stamp my feet really loudly like a 5-year-old.

You can choose "Continental" or "World", so yeah.  I'm seeing a lot of people with Japanese names, too many to be American kids trying to be cool.

Nintendo is planning on releasing a new console in the future? No way!

This is the biggest non-news ever.

No, the biggest non-news ever is Iwata stating that Nintendo is working on a new Mario game and a new Zelda game.  At least this story states a specific year, and also mentions the HD stuff.

What do outfits of fans have to do with the game?

I think my sarcasm may have been too subtle to be detected.  I'll have to work on that.

You can also get Bomberman Live on XBLA.  I think this game just suits the Wii though.

No way dude, my appetite will NEVER be satisfied!!!  The coaches in Madden 09 STILL look like robots.

Exactly.  I won't be satisified until every single person in the crowd is their own individual character model, and they're unique for every game I play during the year.  Maybe they could duplicate the virtual season ticket-holders, but they'll have to change up their outfits every game or I won't be impressed.

Wasn't that Casablah guy respected too? So where's Kid Icarus then?

Just because Cassamassina was wrong doesn't mean that every other games journalist is going to be wrong every time into eternity.

You're effectively saying Nintendo is too stupid to know when to switch approaches. They'll change when THEY deem it necessary to make sure they stay ahead.

No, he wasn't saying that at all.  He was actually saying what you just said: they'll change approaches when they deem it necessary, which is when they aren't ahead any more.  He didn't say anything about Nintendo being stupid at all.  That part is all your addition.

What makes this different from an outright rumor is that it comes from a respected journalist and likely some well-placed sources.  It's an indication that serious work on the next console has begun, which is notable.

Also note that three or four years from now, it will likely be significantly cheaper to produce games with Xbox 360-level graphics.  Nintendo will do fine being a generation behind hardware-wise, but that's about as far as they can go back and still charge $250 for a console.  For example, if Nintendo brought out a console today with PSOne-level power, they couldn't get away with charging $250 for it.

For the record, I got RB2 last week for 360 and I think it's great.  It's basically Rock Band v1.5, but that's fine with me, since Rock Band had more elements than Guitar Hero III to begin with.  They didn't have as much stuff to upgrade.

Nice, KDR.  Make sure you post your PS3 tag in the proper thread and I'll add you in.

Also, don't forget that you can always upgrade that 80GB hard drive to a drive of any size you want.  You aren't handcuffed by what Microsoft offers.

The tracks I've played so far are 98% rails, so there's not as much "flying off the track" type-stuff.  I don't think it's that hard to avoid walls, depending on the track and vehicle, but once you run into a wall you tend to bounce around.  Part of learning the game is knowing when to slow down and take it easy.  Success pretty much = not running into walls.

I'm running through it on Novice, and I've gotten gold medals for everything in Uplift, Warped, and Frenzy (levels 1-3).  Right now I'm doing Vertigo and the difficulty is ramping up, but not unfairly so.  From what I've heard from those that got deep into F-Zero GX, you pretty much got to a late point in the game where it became downright impossible to go any further.

Nintendo Gaming / "Wii HD" in 2011?
« on: October 01, 2008, 01:48:40 PM »
The successor to Wii is rumored to be coming in 2011, and will be HD.

http://www.edge-online.com/news/report-wii-hd-set-2011

This is at least plausible.  The Wii's 2006 hardware is similar to but slightly more powerful than GameCube's 2001 hardware, so it's logical that Wii 2's 2011 hardware would be similar to but slightly more powerful than the PS3/360's 2006 hardware.  It seems to be in step with the direction in which Nintendo is heading, which is previous-generation hardware buoyed by revolutionary input devices.

I've always preferred the Christian rock AC/DC cover band, with hits like "Kindly deeds and they're done for free".

I might pick this up.  I'm a huge AC/DC fan, and I've been waiting for Rock Band DLC from them for a while.  My guess is that the high price is due to an exorbitant royalty charge from the music publisher/band.

I don't care about HD either.  All I care about is if the game looks good for the hardware it's running on.  All the rest is just numbers.
