I agree with Nick and EasyCure.  I don't think the re-releases are anything to complain about.  They're like a side project.  They don't enhance the Wii library in any meaningful way (since you can just play the GameCube versions if you want), but they don't hurt it either.  I'm glad that some of the more overlooked GameCube games are going to get exposure to a much larger audience.

I'm very curious to see how much this will cost from Play-Asia.  The black DSi is a rather tasty little piece of hardware.

With all due respect guys, there's no need to dedicate a post to criticising another community member.  No hard feelings, but I'm locking this thread.

I don't know why you wouldn't want an HDTV, if you can afford one.  Not having one will eventually be like not having a touchtone phone: pretty silly, since they're cheap and have better features than older technology.

More importantly, you'll be able to listen to our podcast on your DSi!

God bless you, Treasure.  GOD BLESS YOU.

Thoughts:

- I'm totally psyched for Club Nintendo.
- Sin & Punishment 2?  Awesome.
- Wii Speak Channel is brilliant.
- DSi is a day one purchase for me.
- Thank goodness they're going to streamline the SD Card file transfer interface.  It's so stupid that copying and erasing a game is two separate steps.  Give us a "Move" button that does both of those tasks at once, please.
- Fire Emblem with voice chat is really cool.  Hopefully more games will use this in the future.
- Mario & Luigi 3 is great news.

Questions:

- Has there been any confirmation that we'll be able to PLAY games off of the SD Card?  What I've seen so far has been all about being able to download directly to the SD Card.
- Treasure is developing S&P 2, right?  I haven't seen this outright confirmed.

Ah, here we go.  BC:R did 130,000 in its first 7 days across both platforms.

I wonder if they'll start to phase in SDHC support in the Wii hardware at some point...

i seriously wonder if its worthy of the time to make the emulator. I mean very few people will buy those games on VC and I doubt the effort will be justified by that much money.

Two simple words shatter your theory:  CHO ANIKI

I also highly recommend EPMD - Business as Usual, if your urban musical tastes stretch back that far.  This might be more of a personal thing for me, though.  "Heeeeeeeeeere's...the E-R-I-C-K S-E-R/M-O-N I'm dustin'/Pack a Mac-10/more minutes and I'll wreck the whole damn set/SMASH/You ain't seen **** yet..."

OK, I'm finished.

But if you think I meant you, please be aware that this conference owned people who said "Nintendo's direction was forever for casuals and non-gamers" and all that and "E3 means the world and let's have a 3 month bitchfest" and "Nintendo doesn't have any new IPs" (which they just showed a lot of) and all that ****.

I don't consider myself somebody that got "owned" by this press conference, so no, I didn't think that at all.

I think that's right on par with Bionic Commando: Rearmed, right?  I remember Capcom releasing a statement to that effect about BC:R.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Would you Rebuy NES games if they were HD ?
« on: October 02, 2008, 03:10:04 AM »
I believe that the best the Xbox and PS2 could do was 480p, and then they could upscale that to 720p if necessary.

I would buy a NEW Super Mario Bros. game in HD, sure.  But it would have to retain the look and feel of the original, like Bionic Commando: Rearmed.  In other words, it would still have to look cartoony, but a better quality of cartoony (like New Super Mario Bros., only taken to another level).  In the right hands, a high-def 2D Mario platformer would be absolutely amazing.

2011 is too soon?  That's three years from now!  I don't care how much the Wii is selling now, sales will begin to taper off eventually.  That'll probably be about two years from now, and after three years Nintendo can pounce on the early adopters again while still making money off of Wii.

2474
Well the list of people owned by this conference is certainly long.

The new DS is HOT.  I'm not going nuts over the Wii stuff, but Sin & Punishment 2 and Punch Out are pure awesomeness.

I agree.  The PSP is essentially a shrunken-down console, so there's not enough of a differentiator there for it to gain critical mass.  It has some great games, but they aren't must-haves because they simply aren't much different than their console big brothers.  If you have God of War 1 & 2 on PS2, God of War: Chains of Olympus on PSP seems a little redundant.

I also think that it's a platform without an audience to a certain degree.  Is it for kids?  No, not really.  Is it for adults?  Yeah, but most adults aren't interested in portable gaming.  Is it for those on a budget?  Nope.  Is it for the big spenders?  Sorta, but most people would probably rather sink $200 into a console and stretch their dollar a bit more.  The PSP's positioning is all messed up.
