If you can't handle the baggage comes with an established franchise then maybe you should stop working on them or maybe you are just a bad director. A better director would have handled the baggage, a superior one would have turned potential baggage into assets.*Points to the good Star trek films*.

Mission Impossible 3 was a collection of Alias action sequences that JJ couldn't shoot on a TV budget. As individual scenes they are pretty good, but as a coherent movie no. While its not bad, its not good like the first movie but light years ahead compared to cluster **** that is MI2. In some ways John Woo and JJ have a lot in common but JJ appears to knows about the critical flaws but instead of fixing them he covers them up of plaster.

JJ has yet a make anything that is structurally sound. Its his style to cover up the lack of proper basic movie making with flash/lens flares in hopes you wouldn't notice the whole thing coming apart before the end of the movie. If your movie disintegrates with the most casual of inspections it isn't a good movie at all.

Both new Star Treks failed for me as it insulted my senses to try to hide insulting my intelligence and the abuse on my suspension of disbelief. He committed character assassinations on the main cast that only had name and rank in common with the characters of old. The only good thing to come out of it was Karl Urban. ST:ITD had me on "WTF is this" from the opening sequence and it just gets worse from there.

I am not sure removing Star Trek from Star Trek would have helped. If you couldn't make a good Star Trek movie then it wasn't a good movie in the first place.

JJ could be a better director but he doesn't want to grow as one.

Spielberg I would say no. He doesn't seem to care anymore, with it went the quality control and magic he is known for.

Brad Bird would be the superior choice over JJ and I would be happy to take him over Nolan for SW.

Joss is another I would take over JJ.

You're right in that Nolan would lay it a bit thick with the gravitas, but it would be a proper movie with good foundations to build on even if he only did the first. Its something Star Wars needs a bit of to break away from the awfulness of the prequels and bring it more in line with the OT. Doug Liman would be a closest out of the box fit. He has done a bit of everything and has shown he knows how to direct a effects driven sci-fi without being too serious.

I will enjoy the movie they make, you will hate it no matter what so I win, thanks for playing.
You just admitted if they feed you a movie equivalent of a **** sandwich you would eat and enjoy it.

What you wrote is just godawful and I doubt even Bay would go that low, well actually he might. It might be great fanservice if you're making an action figure diorama and not a movie.

What I expect with JJ at the helm is a movie that overloads you so your initial impression is good ala Mission Impossible 3, but find that moment that you think about it it starts breaking down rapidly and completely. If it is like both Star Treks it with start breaking down before the movie finishes. If it is anything like Alias it would be nonsensical but ok since it was its own show.

Will it be better than the prequels? Almost a sure thing given how low that bar is. Will it be a classic like the OT? I highly doubt it. He has yet to make a film that can be considered a classic and I don't think he is capable of doing so given his track record. There is no way he is going to touch ESB.

If this was a Nolan/Alfonso Cuarón/Doug Liman(Edge of Tomorrow) film I would expect better. Joss could work even if he is somewhat a little on the predicable side. Pete Travis from Dredd if I wanted Star Wars turned into an awesome bloodbath that isn't what Star Wars is about.

That is the most awful movie I have ever read. Its nothing but disjointed fanservice without basic movie framework at all. Your idea of what is a good movie is just beyond bad.

Also **** Tatooine and **** lightsabres. Tatooine is a barren wasteland, why do we have to go back there again. I rather they have no lightsabers than get flashy with them, keep them relatively subtle like in the OT.

What I want is a proper movie like they use to make and rarely do now. A film with dignity and respect for the audience. That touch of magic as it were. Not this vapid vibrating flash we get now.

Got on to the Person Of Interest train late, but wow, this is good ****. I have watched season 1, starting on 2. The writing is exemplary. Completely opposite from JJ style. Its coherent, smart, integrated, full of tension without getting strobe light flashy. omg Amy Acker! I love her already but damn she is awesome. Bear is a great addition. Jim Caviezel initially seemed like a second choice to Christain Bale who clearly too good for TV, but he really made it his own. The rest of the cast and characters are fantastic and poor Fusco.

Without the bone crunching it's going to turn into a prequel dance fight if they try to use their skill set without the physical contact. If they have them use lightsabres it would waste their talents and you know they are going to use lightsabres.

You can tell I have no hope for this movie.

She was only good at one thing, crying, which as a female comes naturally to her anyways.

...
That is funhaus material right there.

Jennifer Lawrence is very, very bland, there are far more interesting, distinct and talented people than her. Like Kristin Stewart she exists as an audience insert. She is primarily getting promoted around because she is the only successful actresses in her niche which she did by the virtue of filling it first.

Luke might have been a bit bitchy but they didn't give him "Character" by giving him an energy sling shot that does more damage than a fucking blaster or do super human feats 5 minutes into the show or has his own space needle full of adventures he already had. Luke aside from one character trait which he loses has nothing in common. Ezra is infinitely more punchable. Sure Luke blows up the Death Star, but he grew as a person first and by the end of the movie he was almost a different person who seen some serious ****. As ANH moves on the need for a audience surrogate disappears. ESB and ROTJ doesn't even have one. The obsessive need for a audience surrogate kills shows as they make the mistake of trying to relate the audience with someone so inherently unlikeable and/or badly written Gary Sues and not trusting the audience to make do without one.

It didn't help that any sort of tension they were going for gets tossed time and again with people standing out in the open during gunfights or having long chats while getting shot at near point blank range or having the Empire so staggeringly incompetent has to be almost a Loony Tunes cartoon. Agent Mutton Chops is so terrible in fact he doesn't seem much more than a lead in for more obviously "Villainous" looking characters.

Also **** force users, they ruin stories with Dragon Ball power escalation disease.

If Bay ever had a good film it would be The Rock. Maybe the Bad boys series because they are fucking cartoons. Transformers series is a rolling garbage pit.

StarWars Rebels.

Barf mostly. Comprised of a bunch of SW tropes thrown on to a wall to see what sticks in a prequel like kid friendly package. It is horribly inconstant internally because of it. Also why have a fucking kid, kids, even teenagers ruin shows and he is a fucking Gary Sue. Uninspired CGI animation. Had a couple smirk worthy jokes. LOL at Agent Mutton Chops.

Avoiding like Ebola.

Lucy

No it wasn't an omnipotent flash drive. It contained fundamental knowledge of the universe and the path to follow Lucy to ascension. The knowledge is also gated so that the massive amount of knowledge wouldn't lead to the human race to blow itself up with it.

The drug is suppose to be some sort of energizer like coke. Lucy ODed on it but happen to win the genetic lottery ana become increasingly super human.

The other ending would have been worse as they are "It was all a dream ending" which is beyond lazy and gutless. It would have sucked hard.

It is a Luc Besson film. The guy is almost a trope. Leon, Taken, Fifth Element, Transporter series.

Has a strong female protagonist that is as strong if not stronger than a male? Check so much. The science is mostly nonsense but is justified and consistent in-universe? Check. Cool non-shake cam sequences(This alone make Lucy better than most films)? Check. Lots of style? Check. Has foreign or outright alien language? Check. Doesn't feature America? Double check.

If this movie pisses you off then I am really surprised there isn't rioting outside Transformers showings.

The Interview

A damn fun movie that makes fun and mocks the **** out of everything. It starts from the first scene and it doesn't stop till the credits. It somehow just keeps escalating.

Did... did you just copy and paste that from somewhere else?

2014 has been a pretty meh year for movies. Can't even be bothered to look for a movie of the year. It hasn't helped by poor marketing overexposing movies most people don't give a flying **** about(Looking at you fucking Hobbit movies). Or that a movie I was looking forward to watching (John Wick) didn't even come out here.

Better luck next year I guess.

That sounds pretty horrific for a Miyazaki film. Although I have always felt peak Miyazaki was back around Porco Rosso, Kiki's Delivery Service and Laupta(Crazy good music). Nausicaa is ok, but is so heavy handed and the world so shizo with its technology it breaks the movie. Spirited Away looks fantasitic but felt pretty nonsensical and forgettable outside of a couple elements.

Been playing Watch Dogs, I don't get the hate its a pretty solid game.
It was not what was advertised, shallow as a puddle and buggy. So a Ubisoft game.

That is seriously classy.

I had a feeling having AoS showing Agent Carter was going somewhere. The problems is that this show is going to run into prequel syndrome. Two, is there really enough interest for what is effectively two AoS shows. The timeframe might be different, but they are fundamentally the same show.
