I chose some guy called Captain Syrup, who in fact isn't a guy, because Deguello told me to. He's from Wario Land (the original, back on some console called the Game Boy) and so I've become a pawn of Deguello's plan to hijack this thread.

Also, while I'm glad their making a USB hotspot for those without wireless routers, I hope this device will not be required even if you already have wireless LAN.

Bingo. I've got a Wifi network at home, so I give this news a big YAAAAAWN. Its only for those who want to play from home through a broadband connection, but don't have a 802.11b/g wireless network.

Quote

iv been saying for months that they would use usb for DS

What? That's amusing. I remember discussing this during E3 with Mario and the other pietriots, and we came up with this conclusion too, only more specific.
Quote

Mario:Reggie mentions USB connection for DS online
Mario: does that mean i dont need a wirless router?
Infernal Monkey:i'm excited nintendo decided to show lots of great GC games like scooby doo and sponge bob and THQ in general, and have that geoge hairy son talk while good GC footage was playing
Mario:Chris: ahahahaha
Shifty: what?
Infernal Monkey: i guess =o
Shifty: you'd need to connect to another computer. i'm not sure how that'd work unless nintendo brings out a device that magically connects you to the net through a computer
Mario: "free INSIDE the house, through your existing wireless router, or USB connection"
Shifty: yeah, but USB has gotta connect to something.
Shifty: needs more information
Mario: how will DS plug into USB? there's nothing to plug into it..  or will there be a wireless thing that you just connect to the USB?
Shifty: actually, a USB wireless access point would fit the bill
Shifty:plug it in to the USB port on your computer, and then it detects your DS.
Shifty: but most wireless cards don't act as an access point, only as a peer on the network. hmmmm

I wanted to know what you said specifically, but only found this:
Quote

the revolution has a 2 usb ports
answers the question
1usb ds-rev, 1usb in router

which doesn't make much sense to use a wired connection for a wireless network. Oh well.

Pardon my sarcasm - I just don't like GTA. And don't badger me about it, because I could pull out my copy of San Andreas and gouge some nice grooves in the disc to show you how much I don't care...

I think some people need to get out more.

I'd rather catchy music than a reference to a 'revolution' - there was a RE4 preview a while ago that had this catchy guitar riff and thumping drum beat. I've searched high and low for the band who did that song, because it sounded totally awesome for the 60 seconds that you could hear above the various zombie moans and stuff and I'm rambling again...

Personally, the intro to a song like "Bulls on Parage" by Rage Against the Machine is what I'd like to hear. None of this 'underlying message' garbage - just a tune that demands attention. That and the vibe of RATM fits with the desires for a 'revolution' better than any single song.

Instant-Failure Stealth Levels. Ack. This brings back horrible memories of a Goldeneye level where if you tripped an alarm, an infinite number of bad guys poured forth. We knew a man who failed that level 37 times, then got the Infinite Health cheat for it and came back. He intentionally tripped the alarm, the guards rushed out. Laughing maniacally, he proceeded to shoot those ****ers for four hours, killing 1,183 of them - 682 with groin shots - before his thumbs cramped up.Your game should not create this kind of bitterness.

Is he right somewhere among all the ranting? What would you guys change or whinge about?

Pffft, 'Don't Stop Me Now' and 'The Impression That I Get' are my favourite tracks from DK1. I should bust it out and comment some more, but they fit a lot better than some of the tracks, like 'Back For Good'.

Hooray! It is going to make it Down Under! I got my PC-gaming friends hooked on Donkey Konga a while ago. It was a blast to play in the early hours of the morning (even if there was only 1 set of bongos). Best $40 ever spent!

'Losing My Religion', 'Drive' and 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' get the thumbs up from me, and Allstar. Now to figure out a way to get more bongos between now and when they release this...

(Correct me if I'm wrong, but 'Predictable' and 'I Just Wanna Live' are both Good Charlotte songs from what I can remember.)

The Bittorrent was excellent - plenty of seeds, and the high-res Zelda clip was the best thing of the show. Some more videos would have been the only recommendation I'd make - I saw four up there, not sure if more went up at the end of E3.

Hmmm.. next year, I don't know if this is possible but it would be REALLY good if PGC put up their own live stream of the Nintendo Conference.

I'll jump aboard that bandwagon. Both Gamespy and IGN Insider streams decided to fail for me(by fail I mean one had no picture but perfect sound, the other was the opposite) once the show started (staying up until all hours just to see the show made me quite annoyed on top of that) so I was left to curse while trying to understand what all the other pietriots were rambling on about in the massive MSN chat we had going while the conference was on.

And I'm rambling ... apart from that it was great coverage. I think you guys got to every game I was interested in, and then some. Keep it up.

Check out your profile (one of the grey buttons at the top). There is a box there for an 'external icon' - the picture that shows up above your name on each post.

You need somewhere to host the image too - I use photobucket.com but there are alternatives. Enter the URL for the hosted image in that box and BAM, you're in business.
Any problems, just PM me or one of the other 'nice guys' in this thread (Bill Aurion or Pro666 come to mind).

Someone should start up a PGC newbie guide, instead of repeating this question every now and again. Just a thought

When grouped with the first two it might, but it's like 4, 5, and 6 are from a whole different series. They just don't fit.

That was how I felt. Yeah, it fits in with TPM and AotC in terms of story, but the fact they had forced so many connections to 4,5 and 6 (right down to the Chewbacca appearance) left it feeling like it was trying to be something totally different. They really didn't need to show Luke being delivered to Tatooine, did they? The fact that the movie was a lot longer than the 120 mins that Lucas originally wanted each prequel to run for confirms it.

Oh yeah, the movie required more Death March music (you know, the Darth Vader theme). I only heard it once at the very end, and it wasn't when Anakin was put into the suit. Oh well.

SPOILERS COMIN LIKE WHUT

The one you have been waiting on since you heard of StarWars.
What? It still didn't feel like it belonged with the original trilogy, no matter how many links they made with it. And what was the deal with Obi-Wan going to Tattooine to learn the skill of immortality from Qui-Gonn at the very end? Last I recall Qui-Gonn was dead. I donot understand that part

Quote

It's so much to take in. So much story. So much action.
Too much action. No major surprises. The only part of the story I was really curious about was how the Jedi were slaughtered and the Empire formed (and that was wrapped up in a neat little package when they finished the movie in front of the first Death Star.

Quote

Maybe not so much the acting as it is the events that surround them that brings out the best in the actors.
lol blue screen lol

Quote

The fall of Anakin is very believable.
I like the twist at the end about Padme dying because she had nothing to live for once Anakin turned completely, not because of childbirth. Its funny how dreams can be misinterpreted.

The best part of the film was the fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan - it showed how twisted Anakin had become, and just how reluctant Obi-Wan was to kill him, no matter how hard Anakin fought. Great stuff. Awful ending - oh wait, there wasn't an ending at all

General Gaming / Too Human Trilogy: Exclusive for 360

The latest issue of EGM reveals massive news on developer Silicon Knights' next project -- or, as it turns out, projects. In addition to the company's partnership with SEGA to produce an original next-generation game, the developer has signed on with publisher Microsoft to produce a futuristic trilogy for Xbox 360. Yes, exclusively for Xbox 360. Sorry, Nintendo fans, but you won't see this trilogy on Revolution ever.

IGN sez so

Awwwwwww, money hats really do make the world go round I'm curious to see what that new franchise they make with SEGA is, because if its Shadow the Hedgehog with a new hat, I'm just gonna snap.

BUT HE'S GOT A NEW HAT!

This kills me as a Nintendo fan because I have lost count of the years it has been since Mario 64, since the last Mario game. Unless you count the last Mario game to be Mario World. It has been a long time and since then we have gotten nothing but filler on the Cube from them.

Filler content? Oh snap, I must throw out all my Metroid Prime games, along with Wind Waker, Wario Ware, Mario Kart, Paper Mario and other games I can't remember, because you're totally right! Sheesh, think about what you're saying here. You can only re-invent the wheel so many times when it comes to platformers before you get something generic like Crash Bandicoot or Lara Croft, so take some heart in the fact there is a DS Mario Bros game out, and the looming Mario 128. Just occupy yourself until then.

Quote

When all's said and done, the conference wasn't so bad, really... it's just that we expected them to reveal the Revolution in all its glory. The media had no such expectations, so they're eating it up... whatever little of it there is to eat up anyway.

I heard a source say that the Rev wasn't going to be show at E3 at all (this was a few weeks out too) so I'm glad to see that they're progressing nicely, not abandoning the Cube already, and continuing to tempt me to throw down some cash on a DS. On top of that their next system is a really sexy console (online, WiFi, backwards-compatible, DVD-compatible, etc) so its really not as bad as everyone thinks. Its just those who were expecting another "Mature Zelda"-like announcement have come out disappointed.

I think Nintendo's going to reveal more details as the Xbox360 launch approaches, to detract the attention from their Dreamcast-style release plans, and then duke it out with Sony early next year. Well, I hope they do.
