Definitely more color in those graphics, and it even looks like parts of it is using some 3D elements.  Even then, these are screenshots and usually they don't do these games any justice either.  Heck, I have seen better looking shots than these.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Castlevania Interview

Side project?!?!  Aiming it more toward children??  If I'm seeing this right, he's basically saying that DS owners don't want a REAL Castlevania.  Yeah and f*ck you too IGA.  I've known him to say some really stupid crap but this is way out there.  I'm surprised he didn't announce the cancellation of it in order to put it on PSP.

The GC D-pad was very usuable with CvS2EO.  In fact I found it to be one of the better ones, it's actually got a lot of movement to it.

The only good game on the system right now is Lumines.  Past that right now I see nothing on the system even remotely worth it that I can't just get a superior PS2 or GC version of.

Just what I was thinking.  lol

From start to finish VJ2 felt compromised.  While some of it was good, the characters and atmosphere just did not match that of the first game (the frequent occurance of that drill sargent just screams NO), Sylvia sold out, the graphics were a noticable step down in clarity (just look at the cel-shaded characters, Joe looked way cleaner in the original, especially the scarf)  and it slowed down often, probably due to being a multiplatform game.  The game was still good, but it just wasn't anything special like the first.

Speaking of online, I hear that DS online is being dealt with by Gamespy.  Not 100% sure about it, but that's what I'm hearing.

"I got bored with Metroid Echos. Come on- How many times is Samus going to go to a planet, and lose all the weapon
functions in her suit?! At some point she should get that fixed. How about some different weapons for a change?"

If what I'm thinking they'll do with it is what they'll do with it, see Metroid Prime Hunters.

Age of Empires!  Katamari Damacy!!  yes, yes, YES!!!  That's what I want to hear.  Oh and Rogue Agent ain't lookin bad either, now make it play well EA.

I don't know if anyone around here is interested in buying Retro Atari Classics, but if you were I'd recommend you get Atari Anniversary Advance if you need it bad enough.  I've seen a copy of the game yesterday and all I can say is wow.  You'd think that in this day and gaming age ports of 20+ year old games wouldn't have an issue going over to current hardware, but it seems like guys at Atari thought otherwise.  Asteroids doesn't control well at all.  Centipede looks like it was slowed down and the spider just isn't right.  Tempest doesn't have any of the between stage transitions where you had to avoid the spikes anymore and for whatever reason can ONLY be played with the stylus, which would be fine if it worked.  To make matters worse, the remix versions of these games BLOW.  They look ugly as sin, especially Centipede that replaces the mushrooms with hearts and the creature you controlled with this horrible SpongeBob looking ripoff!

The only good to this game?  If you liked Breakout, you'll love the fact it's probably the most playable version of this game since the old days.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Next Gen gaming gets more expensive?
« on: March 16, 2005, 05:42:34 PM »
You know, with the production values of some of the games coming out these days I'm kinda surprised they're not at $60+ already.

About the $500 consoles, didn't PS1 and Saturn launch for that much or was it at least rumored to launch for that much at that time?  No matter, if that's the estimated price for next-gen consoles, unless Revolution is $200 to $250 I think my gaming may go to being just strictly handheld.

"I think that's possible but there's always going to be a hardcore gaming market that doesn't feel that cell phone gaming is good enough so they'll always have them."

Yeah.  I remember not that long ago hearing about all these old classics being revived on cell-phones and stuff so I actually went over to a Verizon dealer once and using their phones decided to check some of them out.  If handhelds die it won't be because of these.  When Galaga and Gradius run at sub 15fps, something's really wrong.  However I did get to try out some of their new V-Cast games, the main one that stood out being Ashpalt Urban GT 3D.  Wasn't bad given what it was, just don't play the DS version afterwards the framerate and overall visual difference is shocking.  I dunno, phones still have to catch up in numerous ways before it ever gets to that point, especially with 2D cuz right now from what I've seen the GBA runs circles around them in that respect.

Any company that would've supported it is already with the DS and PSP.  Seriously though, do we really need ANOTHER handheld contender?  This is getting to be just as bad as the so-called console wars.

Nobody IIRC said this was coming to America.  Even if it does, I don't see it as being that different from "Yourself Fitness" being on X-Box and PS2.

As I've stated in another thread, I don't know about the other EB's, but according to a couple of friends of mine that used to work there they told me that the primary reason they do stuff like that is because they have to meet a specific quota.  Depending on the circumstances with the employee not meeting the quota could either get you in trouble or fired.  This was exactly how one of them was given the proverbial boot.

TalkBack / RE:Development of Rayman DS Complete
« on: March 08, 2005, 02:20:04 PM »
As posted in another thread...

If you liked Rayman 2 on the N64 or DC and are looking for a handheld version, I've got some troubling news. According to IGN, DC Studios (I believe) the studios behind the Rayman 2 port to the DS have been having significant trouble bringing the game over to the DS, with the main issue being framerate. I don't know too much about DC other than their history on the GB platform. IMO, I think it just may be first year syndrome, though that wouldn't explain either Nanostray or NFSU2DS which both look and run far better on the DS than the current build of Rayman does. What do you think, bad port team, the DS, or both?
