Wii controls cannot save a fundamently flawed fighter.  I'll be waiting for GGXX Accent Core.

I've had OoT freeze on me a few times.  Like I said, I bet it's from the whole RAM issue because I have yet to hear about any freezes on OoT with the VC and I'd expect MM to be the same way.

I highly doubt Majora's Mask on the VC would have the same issues it had on the GC.  The biggest problem with both OoT and MM on the GC had to have been the 24MB RAM limit, considering that both games were 32MB, and one also used an additional 4MB of RAM.  I personally think both games in some form were semi-ported in order to get them to work around not being able to load the entire game.

Well, $100 says NBA Live and Fight Night will be online too.  And if Fight Night is online, that's instant purchase given they don't screw anything up.

Well as I said, it wouldn't be rattling so many if part of it wasn't true...

Well, the average person isn't bitching about a Zelda timeline neither.  In a way I agree with the assesment.  Most gamers DO go through games like water these days.  Finish one cup, go to the other.  It's like a game these days is only as good as it lasts before one "beats" it.

The Gamecube controller deal is completely for the vocal tournament players that will bitch if they can't use it.  I already know of a lot of people who wouldn't like using the classic controller.

Nintendo Gaming / Namco Museum Remix
« on: May 17, 2007, 03:55:13 PM »
Galaxian, Dig Dug, Mappy, Xevious, Gaplus, Super Pac-Man, Pac & Pal, Pac-Mania and Cute Q will be in it along with Galaga Remix, Rally X Remix, Pac-Motos Remix, Gator Panic Remix, and what appears to be Pac & Roll taken to the next level.   Pac & Roll would probably be worth it alone, and given that it seems like Namco is actually handling the collection unlike what they did with Mass Media and Digital Eclipse, the old games should be as good as they were on the PSP collection and the new stuff should be equally as good.

I don't see what the big deal is.  Deep down you knew DAMN well they were probably gonna go about it this way and personally I didn't really have much of a problem with it anyway.   No need in bashing Next Level games, this isn't their doing.

If they can fix the mess that Hunters turned out to be, then yeah, online corruption is fine.  If they can't, please don't bother...

And why are we comparing it to Halo 3.  That game will probably see more play overall in more circles before Metroid will anyways, considering it was made to be the definitive home console online first person shooter experience.  The only way Corruption got a chance against that is if it manages to do something that Halo can't really well and I just don't see that happening.  I got a feeling a lot of ya'll are setting yourselves up for disappointment.

Legend actually seemed to be a lot better than the ones before it.   If the anniversary is based off of that particular engine I'll probably give it a shot now that it is hitting the Wii.  Even better if the extra time is used to create a real Wii build instead of just using all PS2 assets.

Looks like I won't be messing with any "Games For Windows"... oh wait that's gonna be a majority of titles down the road isn't it?  Oh hell, is it at least cheaper than X-Box Live?

Framerate issues sound like the game does a lot of streaming that the poor drive can't deal with too much.

TalkBack / RE:Miyamoto Discusses Zelda in Japan, Making Halo
« on: May 13, 2007, 04:14:04 PM »
Hmmm, looks like someone at Bungie took offense to the Halo question, here's a snippet...

"Joystiq: One final question: last week, Shigeru Miyamoto said in an interview with Geoff Keighley in Entertainment Weekly that he could make Halo.

Frank: Yeah, well. I just want to go on the record and say that Bungie is hard at work on a side-scrolling platform game featuring some plumbers — I’m not going to say what their ethnicity is, it’s none of anyone’s business — but we took that as a gauntlet, a sort of glove slap, and we’re going to respond in 2D scrolling style. That’s all I’m saying."

Who said serious players had to use the motion/gesture controls?  It's an option so whether it works out or not doesn't matter.  The casuals will probably play it that way while the tournament players use the controller.  Win win.

Of course it looks better, it's being made as a premier title.  If more companies did that for the Wii we wouldn't see a lot of the crap that we do now.

Well you know guys, if you don't like it there's other viable options out there.  I hear the 360's got some good games out now.  Maybe it's time to put the fanboy in you away and just make a jump for it.  Microsoft don't bite...

Soul Calibur 2 wasn't much better.  It's issues weren't nearly as gamebreaking as 3 though.  To be honest, I welcome the change.  The Soul Calibur series at home seemed to be leaning more toward the adventure type of game anyhow and all the fighting game aspect of it did was get in the way.  Given the nature of the series storylines I thnk this could work out quite well.  The only issue I see is PO'ed fans of the fighters which there are probably very few of now due to how SC3 came out.

After the abomination that was Soul Calibur 3, I would rather them make a game like this, maybe they'd do better with something like this than another fighter where you can glitch the game by cancelling a throw animation while the person being thrown is still in it.  I guess the only minor issue that may come up is if they decide to chibi everything.

Final Fight 1 on SNES was a launch window title.  Go figure that it had obvious problems.  You didn't get a two player option because they probably didn't have the time to actually optimize the game enough to handle it.  I mean damn, more than 2 people on the screen will slow the game down and if you throw one of those bottles around it can be flicker city.  Guess what else was also a launch window title around this time too, yep Gradius 3.  And what was wrong with that game too?  Massive slowdown and flicker so bad it started affecting the stars in the background.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo was the one with supers.  SSF2 never mattered much to me or many others and probably had the worst home ports of all of them, that's a large reason why if Hyper Fighting were to come out I would get that and not bother with SSF2.  EGM long time ago gave both the SNES and Genesis versions of that game 4s and for good reason.  It's like Capcom fell asleep at the wheel with them.  Hell, they even botched the arcade one the first time around and had to release a revision to it which ultimately didn't matter because once SSF2T came out everyone dropped SSF2 like a bad habit.

SF2WW and CE have more in common with each other than anything.  HF actually added moves and tweaked the balance to be the best of the original 3.  CE was WW with the 4 bosses playable and a couple minor alterations.

About Wario's Woods.  I did download that and then obtained the SNES version through other means and to be honest with you, outside of graphics they're the same game.  In fact I prefer the NES version's music, but that's just me.

« on: May 08, 2007, 04:02:38 AM »
Most of the game's textures are pixelated on Wii, especially on buildings whereas on the PS2 they aren't.   I'm calling BS mainly because this was not the case with Spider-Man 2 where even the PS2 version of that looks better than both the Wii and PS2 Spider-Man 3.

I am also more than convinced that despite anything that may have been said earlier, the Wii version has got to be a port of the PS2 build.

I guess this doesn't really matter all that much though, I played the PS3 game yesterday and while it was somewhat better, that framerate is atrocious and there's STILL pop up and weak textures strewn around.  THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE "NEXT-GEN" RIGHT?!

The damned Wii game uses point sampled textures while the PS2 one didn't...  If this ain't the biggest crock of schtick I've ever seen in a while I don't know what is.

And yeah, they pretty much all aren't that hot.

C'mon now, I knew they were releasing SF2HF and SSF2 down the road eventually, that's why I didn't buy SF2WW when it was released.  I was tempted to but I didn't.  Same reason why I waited for Gradius 3 when Gradius 1 was released earlier (speaking of which I got the arcade Gradius 1 as well as Contra with the DS Konami Classics Collection, there's more than one way to get most of these games...).  I dunno, maybe I think of it this way because I see the virtual console as a small bonus rather than one of the big reasons to have the system.

All Final Fight Guy did was take out Cody for Guy and bring a couple minute details back that were missing in the original.  If you really want a great version of the game get the GBA one.  It pretty much put back almost everything that was taken out of the SNES original.   There are stores that still have it.

And why is Nintendo being blamed for the third party releases not being the arcade originals?  Maybe third parties don't feel like throwing extra dev time into making an arcade emulator, not to mention most of the stuff like Capcom's arcade titles were well over 12MB, especially the SF2 series.
