Nintendo Gaming / RE:Potential Rebel Strike issue...

I won't be getting Rebel Strike until this evening (I preordered with GameStop). Once I play it I will let you know if I encounter the same problems.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Has anyone had a problem with WMXIX?
« on: October 13, 2003, 09:52:59 AM »
Thanks for the replies. There are no scratches on the disc. I bought the game brand new and I take excellent care of my games. They are all in "like-new" condition. The cube wasn't on for very long to have overheated. I have played it for hours in the heat of the Summer and never had it over heat on me. I am thinking it was just a bug in the software.

Thanks everyone for your help

Nintendo Gaming / Has anyone had a problem with WMXIX?
« on: October 13, 2003, 04:14:44 AM »
I was bored yesterday evening and decided to throw in WrestleMania XIX and check-out some of the match types that I never bothered to explore (Hell In A Cell and Cage).

So I was playing a Hell In A Cell match when about 5 minutes into the match, the game froze on me and and there was a high-pitched buzz coming out from the speakers. The reset button the GameCube was unresponsive and I had to turn the power off. When I turned it back on, the game booted-up without a problem.

I didn'y hear any weird noises coming from the GameCube but the buzzing noise from the speakers was loud enough to cover-up any noises emitting from the console. I shut it off before getting a good listen to the console itself.

This is the first problem I have ever experienced with my GameCube. Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

Was this caused by the game (I know it's buggy as hell, so I thought it might have been the game disc) or was this a malfunctioning 'Cube?

What I'm about to tell you about the Star Wars DVDs may frighten you so read with caution.

First of all George wants to do another Special Edition with the original trilogy. Because he is busy with the prequels though he won't  be able to do anything with them until sometime after he is done with Episode III. I suppose in an attempt to not screw fans over too much he's decided not to release them on DVDs until he's done with this second special edition. That way we won't have like 2 or 3 copies of the trilogy on DVD. Anyway most signs point to it being released by 2006 since that will be a year after Episode III will be released in theaters. Personally though I feel they won't be released till 2007 since that would be the 30th anniversary of A New Hope.

The real scary thing though is that George has sworn that he will never release the original non-special edition version of the Trilogy (or the Rough Cuts as he now likes to call them) in any form again. Now I'm actually a fan of the Special Editions but the idea of never seeing the original versions of the movies released again is like a crime against the entire universe or something. This is were the whole thing about the DVDs coming out next year comes in. There was a rumor like a couple weeks back on theforce.net that because of the success of the Indiana Jones DVDs Fox had pressured Lucas in releasing the OT on DVD early. The thing about it though is that the rumor wasn't clear about which version would be released. It kind of made it sound like the non-special edition versions would be released in 2004. If the rumors true I think it would be the best thing to do since George could then release the Ultimate Special Edition (or whatever they will be called) in 2006 or 2007.

The "Ulimate Editions" are supposedly already completed - which is why they are now preparing the films for a possible Fall 2004 release. I think you might find  THIS SITE intersting. It is an on-line petition, which is being closely monitored by the folks at LucasFilm - to include the ORIGINAL theatrical versions of the films on the DVDs in addition to the new versions...

IGN is not the first site to report the original Star Wars trilogy as coming to DVD in 2004. The rumor has been circulatimg for over a month now and it is based on a catalog from a UK Columbia House-type of company owned by Universal which is advertising the Star Wars DVDs as being available in the Fall of 2004 - which would be the perfect way to get poeple hyped-up for the release of Episode 3 in May 2005. Several sites report that this rumor is more than likely true.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube on "The Man Show"
« on: September 29, 2003, 03:34:41 AM »
Don't ask why, but I was watching the new Man Show (with those 2 new lame hosts) last night, during one of thier segments - they stood in front of a Ninendo GameCude kiosk, similar to what alot of stores have for demos. On the screen it looked like they were showing in game movies of Burnout 2: Point Of Impact

Just thought I'd share.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Nintendo Pulling Strong
« on: September 19, 2003, 03:49:00 AM »
I have to disagree with those who say sales are not important. I love my 'Cube to death (and it is the only console that I own). Overall, I am very happy that I decided to buy the system that I wanted, even though it's not the popular choice. If it was up to my friends, I would have a PS2.

If the GameCube does not sell at least as well as the the X-Box, developers will get discouraged and drop support of the 'Cube. I want to see Nintendo's sales increase for the GameCube, I hope that games such as True Crime will help to change some people's opinion of the 'Cube and show them that we are not all about "kiddie" games.

Nintendo Gaming / Question RE: Simpsons Hit & Run

If this game is going to be available on all 3 consoles, why does the box art for the GameCube version have the exclusice "Only For" marker in the top left corner of the cover? Does the GameCube build have extra features not included on the PS2or X-Box versions that would warrant an "Only For"?

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Is progressive scan worth it?
« on: September 15, 2003, 04:47:56 AM »
It will only work with games the support Progressive Scan. If it's not mentioned on the box or in the instruction booklet, pressing "B" will not enable Progressive Scan if the game doesn't support that option.

Nintendo Gaming / Next-Gen Game Boy in 2004?
« on: September 14, 2003, 12:24:38 PM »
NinGC.com is reporting the possibility of the next generation GameBoy to launch at sometime in 2004. They posted the following quote from Nintendo of Europe's official magazine...

Development sources have told NOM UK that they're expecting to take delivery of development kits for the Game Boy Advance's successor before Christmas. The technology is all but finalised, so this gives developers time to ready titles for a predicted 2004 launch.

If Nintendo Europe is reporting this, would the same be true for us here in the US?

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube goes on-line?
« on: September 10, 2003, 09:19:04 AM »
Story at IGN.com

Apparently Nintendo entered into a deal with AOL to become GameCube on-line's preferred ISP. AOL/Time Warner will advertise Nintendo products and send software kits to developers that want to make on-line games for the cube. Nintendo said that even with the announcement of this deal, it does not mean that they have changed their position on on-line gaming.

My question is: What the hell happened with GameSpy? I thought they were working with Nintendo to bring the 'Cube on-line?

I just read over at NinGC that Nintendo's Player's Choice line-up will be $19.99 from now on. It's about time!

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Nintendo gets the Shaft again!
« on: September 05, 2003, 07:41:16 AM »
Well, I just sent a letter to IGN's mailbag (yeah, I know). Maybe they can get an official word from Rockstar about GTA on the GameCube....

------

Months ago, there were rumors circulating around about the possibility of Rockstar Games bringing their insanely popular Grand Theft Auto series to the GameCube and X-Box consoles.

Earlier this week, they announced a GTA3/Vice City bundle pack for the PS2, PC and X-Box – which will be released on November 4, 2003. I know that this subject had been touched on in the last issue of the mailbag, but is there any chance that us GameCube owners can finally get GTA on Nintendo’s console? Aside from my desire to own the game without having to purchase another console or a PC (I have a Mac), I know that having GTA can help Nintendo to break the Cube’s “kiddie” image. I went over to Rockstar’s website, looking for an e-mail address so I could contact them myself about GTA on the GameCube, but all I could find was an e-mail address for their Tech Support department.

While I don’t expect Rockstar to come through for us GameCube owners, I was hoping that maybe you guys at IGN could flex a little muscle and get Rockstar to address this issue once and for all.

Thanks.

A lot of sellers on E-Bay accept Money Orders. Also, some of these on-line stores will accept a Money Order as well. It just takes a little longer for you to receive your order.

General Chat / RE: What is it with Pepsi lately??
« on: August 19, 2003, 11:56:06 AM »
When I was a in my teens I prefered Coke to Pepsi. Now that I am an adult, I prefer the taste of Pepsi.

I tried Pepsi Vanilla a week or two ago, and it was very disappointing. Vanilla Coke is much better.

I happen to love Pespi Twist. Coke currently has a Diet Coke with Lemon, which is horrible (it tastes kind of like how pencil shavings smell, if that makes any sense).

I don't know - I think Pepsi would win the "Cola Wars" if they were fighting strictly over regular cola. Coca-Cola would win overall for having the best tasting product line-up.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: N5 Launch Games List!
« on: August 19, 2003, 10:36:00 AM »
Here is my list....

1. Too Human
It would be an awesome launch title, being as though it's one of the most anticipated titles in Nintendo's recent history. I would rather wait another year or two than play it now, just because I know how awesome Silicon Knights can make it.

2. Wave Race 3
A popular launch title for the last 2 systems. It will be an excellent display of the new machine's graphical capabilities. I am a fan of this series, and I expect Nintendo to deliver with this one.

3. Super Smash Bros. 3
Another popular series for the last 2 systems, especially on the GameCube. I think it would be in Nintendo's best interest to have this game ready for launch. I believe it could be a system seller, based on the popularity Melee alone.

4. Anything by Factor5
Let's face it. not too many other 3rd party programing teams know how to unlock the power of Nintendo's consoles better than Factor5 (I would say that Silicon Knights is just as good, but then again they're 2nd party so they'd better be, LOL). I know that anything coming from Factor5 will be amazing. I hope for a Star Wars title, but not necessarily another Rogue Squadron sequel.

5. A WWE Wrestling Game
Wrestling games are usually very successful on any console. It would be smart of Nintendo to make sure they have a WWE licensed game at launch.

6. Soul Calibur 3
Although SCII took a while to get here, every system needs a great fighting game. SC3 could fill that requirement and then some. If we can't get Soul Calibur, Capcom Vs. SNK 3 is looking very good. I would settle for a port of Capcom's latest fighter until Namco can deliver the goods.

7. Burnout 3
Burnout 2 is one of my favorite racers of all-time. Acclaim was in rare form when they ported this to the 'Cube. I know a third installment in this popular series could be awesome on the next system.

8. Super Monkey Ball 4
Since SMB3 will be making it's debut on the 'Cube in the Spring, a next generation incarnation of this cute, but highly addictive series could be just what Nintendo needs to help maintain their family-friendly reputation without resorting to an overkill of Disney inspired crap.

9. Time Splitters 3
TS3 would be a nice choice for the obligatory FPS game as a launch title.

10. Grand Theft Auto
Rockstar's series is more popular than ever right now as fans eagerly await the next installment. With rumors that Rockstar will not be seeking to renew their contract with Sony when it expires in 2004, Nintendo would be very wise to secure exclusive rights to the GTA series. Mario might not want to carjack and shoot prostitutes, but I do.

Last I heard, Capcom is aiming to have a playable version at E3 2004, with a Japan release soon after (June/July?)- so we're probably a good year away from it's release here in the US. I'd say a Fall 2004 is the earliest we would see it here.

998
There are a few on E-Bay. They seem to range in price from (approximately) $30-$60. You might want to check your local GameStop store. I know that the store in my neighborhood has a huge selection of GBA accessories. I wouldn't be surprised if they also stock the GBA TV Tuners.

I agree, a woman with peirced naval is downright sexy. If she has a tongue ring, it's even better (yes, it really does make a difference, if she knows how to use it right!)

I used to have my left eyebrow pierced, but this was before it became popular.
