Nintendo Gaming / RE:HDMI for Wii?????

Not "zero benefit", but I see your point. HDMI might just be the most over hyped and over rated technology of the moment.

Correct.

Not quite.

HDMI carries uncompressed audio. The video signal being output is the same whether it's Component or HDMI, the only difference is that component is analog and HDMI is digital. Because of this HDMI is supposedly slightly sharper, though most people would be hard-pressed to tell the difference.

Picture quality will only be as good as the source. HDMI will not make a difference.

A friend picked this up and I got play it tonight. I really liked the game. The lack of camera control can be very frustrating, but then again if you had the option to control the camera the difficulty level of the game would go down considerably. I'm still not sure if it's worth $40. If the price drops to $29.99, I'd consider buying it.

I downloaded the demo last night. I love the art direction anf the game has potential but the controls are very awkward. Unless the controls are fixed in the final version of the game, I'd rather play Dead Rising.

If this game plays as good as it looks, this will be a must-buy for me.

IGN confirmed that the Wii version is a port of the PS2 version of RE4. At least that is the way it sounds with the wording they used. I hope they meant "port of the PlayStation 2 game" in the sense that all of the additional content was added to the GameCube version and enhanced for the Wii and not a literally a "port of the PS2 version of game".

Resident Evil 4 for Wii is a port of the PlayStation 2 game that was technically a port of a GameCube title. What you get is the core GCN title plus both the added content and true 16:9 widescreen mode that the PS2 iteration brought to the table.

Nintendo Gaming / Vigilante 8 (Luxoflux/Activision) on the Wii VC?
« on: April 13, 2007, 03:48:08 AM »
Destructiod posted a rumor that it appears that Vigilante 8 is being prepared for a future release on the XBox Live Arcade.

I used to love this game on the Nintendo 64 and with the rather tiny selection of titles available from the N64 on the Wii Virtual Console, hopefully it's just a matter of time before we start seeing some 3rd party N64 games hit the VC. What are our chances seeing maybe a simultaneous release of V8 for the N64 the same week (or week after) that it hits the XBLA?

How big is your display? I'm posting this from my Wii and the default font size on both the main site and this forum is perfectly readable. This browser is far perfect but it's a HUGE improvement over the "Trial Version".

It has improved so much that I wouldn't have minded parting with the 500 points they'll be charging for it come June.

The answer is Dead Rising and Lost Planet are not slated to appear on Wii or PS3 as far as current plans go. The reasons for this are quite convoluted and I'm bound by NDAs on these matters so I can't divulge why this is the situation.

That's not the one.  But that makes it sound like MS has paid for the exclusiveness of DR which unfortunately is always a possibility.  Then again, when have Capcom ever gave an exclusive agreement for the life of the console to anyone?  It could be a timed exclusive...which would make it technically true that DR is not slated to appear on any other console.  Because 1)they can't say even if it is, and 2) perhaps it wasn't scheduled for the Wii at the time.

I still hear things from people who work in the industry and like to report them here.  I'm not bound by any NDAs when it comes to rumors on other developers(though I have broke a few about EA).  Doesn't mean DR to Wii will definitely happen, but it's worth noting.

If one were to read between the lines though, all it really says is that Dead Rising and Lost Planet are XBox 360 exclusive titles and will not be ported to either the Wii or the PS3, however it in no way says anything to indicate that sequels to either game won't see a release on the Wii (or PS3). I'm not worried. The one way for DR Wii to truly work would be if it were built from the ground-up for the console anyways.

I sincerely doubt that GTA IV will ever be on the Wii. It was designed with the power of the XBox 360 and PS3 in mind. I think the Wii will likely see either ports of the PSP/PS2 games Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories or an exclusive sequal (San Andreas Stories, perhaps?) - probably released on the same day as GTA IV so Wii owners that don't own either of the other 2 systems don't feel left out of the GTA IV hysteria..

Did I read the same editorial that you guys did?

#7 (Wii) was a "What-If?" - They didn't say the Wii is a failure. They didn't even suggest it. All they said was that it's too early in the to really know for sure what the future holds for Nintendo's latest console. It did say that the Wii needs a good 2 years before we'll have a clear picture of where it's heading, especially with Nintendo's past history with 3rd party support on their last few consoles.

I also fully agree with them about graphics for the next generation of consoles. Nintendo better be able to match the offerings from Sony and Microsoft otherwise people might not be as receptive the next Wii as they were this time around, since the uniqueness of the current system would no longer be able to make up for it's other limitations when compared to the competition.

Ships today, will be in stores tomorrow (Tuesday).

Regardless, "New Release Tuesday" generally applies only to CDs, DVDs and books. Video Games tend to follow their own schedule which seems to defy logic. Let's start with the fact that release date usually means "ship date". It's misleading since the average person sees the ship date and assumes it will be in stores and available for purchase on that date.

Am I the only one underwhelmed by today's Virtual Console additions?

Galaga™ (NES®, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points)
BRAVOMAN™ (Turbografx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points)
Alex Kidd™ in the Enchanted Castle (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)

Where's Punch Out?

For some reason, wishful thinking really - I thought that maybe, just maybe the original Paper Mario for the N64 might make a surprise appearance on VC since the new game will be hitting stores later today (for some) and tomorrow. Being as though I've never played any of the Paper Mario games, I was hoping to sink my teeth into a $10 VC purchase before deciding whether or not to spend $50 on the new game.

My MOH-loving friend picked it up today and I played through the first 2 levels. Actually - I found the controls to be the best out of the Wii FPS' I have tried (Red Steel and Call Of Duty being the others). I had it "mastered" in less than 10 minutes. For some reason, I find that with the Wii FPS controls, I do not experience the motion sickness I get when playing a similar game with a standard controller.

Really the only complaint I have about this game (besides the fact that it's a WWII FPS) is what Brandogg had to say about the dips in the framerate. The game moves along just fine until either it starts to rain or there are multiple explosions going on around you. Once that happens you'd swear the game is running in some sort of hidden, slow motion mode.

Are we 100% sure that this new Wii enhanced port of RE4 will be based on the GameCube build with the PS2 "extras" added to it? Would Capcom do the smart thing and do this thing right? Looking at some of those screens has me a bit worried that it might be the PS2 version ported over to the Wii. I saw a lot of blurriness, especially in the shot of Ada in front of the wall.

Using the Wii-Mote to pick up stuff and beat the crap out of zombies really seems like a no-brainer. I believe it will happen - but I don't think the Wii will get a port of the 360 game. Instead, it will either be a side story or a full-blown sequel built from the ground up, specifically for the Wii. I like the idea of using the Miis however, not in their current caricatured form. Instead, I would like to see Mii implementation utilizing the characteristics of the Miis, but in a realistic way to generate "human"-looking characters (as suggested a while back when the concept of "Mii" was first announced).

All of the Miis in your Mii Plaza should be made into the main characters of the game (or as many as possible anyways), meanwhile all of the Miis visiting your Mii Parade should be recreated as the army of the undead you will ultimately have to beat into submission.

With the Nyko one, they say to allow the battery to fully discharge 2 or 3 times so the battery can achieve maximum charge capacity. After that, the instruction booklet says you can keep the Wii-motes in the cradle when they are not being used to keep them fully charged at all times. Though I suppose the rechargeable AAs are just as easy to use.
