General Gaming / RE:Wow, Capcom fails again.

Give me the NES Bionic Commando on the Virtual Console.

Also, Capcom just announced the following:
1. Street Fighter 4
2. a PS3 version of Lost Planet
3. A new Phoenix Wright spin-off titled Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice (DS)
4. A new Sci-Fi IP called Dark Void

While Mini Desktop Racing sounds like something I might enjoy (and I'm thinking it is probably a lot like the XBLA's Mad Tracks), this announcement just reeks of mediocrity. Isn't this the same company responsible for "Billy The Wizard", "Ninjabread Man" and a bunch of other Wii shovelware?

I don't think that was the surprise, however I bet we'll see someone at Nintendo spin this VC update into the "surprise".

Personally, I think the surprise is something that will affect the Wii on a number of levels...
1. The addition of new systems to the Virtual Console (NeoGeo, TurboCD, etc.)
2. Enabling the SD card slots to store and play VC games and other channels
3. New channels ("Check Mii out", Wii & DS Demos, Music/MP3 etc.)
4. Classic Controller support for Game Cube games
5. USB Hard/Flash drive support.

I caught a few minutes of AoTS last night at the end, Olivia Munn delivered a hint, which to me sounds very likely to be indicative of a Wii announcement tonight...

She said something along the lines of: "This will be something that all of America will enjoy, even my grandmother." Which, to me, falls into Nintendo's broad demo that the Wii is attracting.

It's not like Comcast to just give up (they own G4). I think another format change might be in the works (and probably a renaming). Comcast wants to compete directly with Viacom (Spike, MTV, VH-1, etc.)

RumorReporter.com is suggesting that the "big announcement" on G4's Attack Of The Show tomorrow night could be an in-studio appearance by Reggie to deliver the promised Wii September Surprise, or a G4-exclusive announcement of the 40GB PS3.

I personally, think it will be neither as they are touting this announcement as something that will effect the future of G4.

Nintendo Gaming / Any news on the September Wii Firmware Update?

It's September 21st, the month will soon be over and there hasn't been any word about this Firmware update since E3 back in July. Since it was rumored to be a huge update, I would think we would have heard something by now if it were still coming this month.

There is always the Hitman series. I could have sworn I read a while back that Eidos had a Wii version in development. Probably Hitman: The Movie: The Game LOL

Considering the fact that CDs hold more data than the Wii is capable of storing with it's limited 512MB of internal flash RAM - what will Nintendo do about the storage issues - especially with NeoGeo games due before then end of the year?

Must not have payed attention to the actual results and only referred to the order of the of how they were listed, which is (from top-to-bottom) PS3, XBox 360 and Wii.

I'm going to guess 480i. Have you seen how awful the film clips in the Godfather: Blackhand Edition and the trailer at the beginning of Scarface: The World Is Yours look?

I have no interest in playing DVDs on my Wii, especially since my Toshiba HD-A2 (HD DVD) is one hell of an up converting player.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:controller question
« on: August 13, 2007, 10:06:29 AM »
I was actually hoping that the last week's FirmWare update to 3.0u would have added Classic Controller and "Home" button support to the GameCube mode, but no such luck. Not that I mind using my WaveBird, but it would be nice for Wii owners who never had a GameCube but want to play some GameCube games and can't find any 'Cube controllers in stores.

Haven't tried wireless, though I saw it mentioned elsewhere (Kotaku, maybe) that someone tried a bluetooth keyboard and it worked.

Anyways, THIS is the keyboard that I tried last night and it worked flawlessly.

I gave it a try last night with a spare USB keyboard I had laying around. I like it so much I plan to pick-up a USB extension cable when I step out for lunch in a little while.

2. Galaga '90 (TG16 - 600 Wii Points)
3. Wave Race 64 (N64 - 1000 Wii Points)

Missile Command on XBox Live Arcade had me feeling like this. Actually, I felt so strongly about it that I sent an e-mail to Atari requesting that they consider porting it over with Wii-Mote controls as a "WiiWare" download in the future. I figure you can aim and move the reticle around with the IR and use the D-Pad to fire. Right on the D-Pad to fire the right cannon, left to fire the left cannon and down (or the "B" trigger) to fire the center cannon.

Yeah.

Nintendo doesn't attend TGS as a vendor, but Iwata could still give a keynote, regardless.

Unfortunately, that was where I was stuck at when I decided to trade the game in. I figured that in just 1 week after release, the game had depreciated in value to $25 so quickly that getting rid of it was more important than trying one last time to beat Blackout and Starscream. This was one of the things I was referring to when I said "some of the missions are like beating your head against a brick wall, repeatedly" (the fight with Shockwave, was another than comes mind).

I never even bothered to get that far on the Decepticon side of the missions. I traded it in for The Bigs (360 version, since the Wii reviews all indicate that the controls suck) which is a lot of fun.
