Nintendo Gaming / GameCube Wrestling Games

Def Jam Vendetta is a surprisingly decent wrestling game.

Is Pokemon Channel that "Pokemon Box" thing?

Also, I take it that Pokemon Colliseum is the GC follow-up to the N-64's Pokemon Stadium - would a Game Boy be needed to play Colliseum, or can you play it on it's own?

Nintendo Gaming / Animal Crossing: Punch-Out?
« on: May 12, 2003, 06:07:08 AM »
Please excuse me for being a bit naive here about Animal Crossing.

While I have no real interest in playing Animal Crossing, the ability to unlock and play NES classics within Animal Crossing is very appealing. Can someone please explain to me how this works and what classic NES titles can be played via Animal Crossing? I would consider buying the game for the sole purpose of playing the unlockable NES games. Also, how does the e-reader play into all of this - I thought that was a peripheral device for the GBA?

Nintendo Gaming / new GCN games - "Fear" and "Ground Zero"

Both games sound very interesting. I applaud Mr. Miyamoto and Nintendo for taking a chance by creating new potential franchises. It is ideas and innovations such as "Fear" that set Nintendo apart from the competition.

I'm so sick of the Jazz vs Trish/Trish vs Victoria/Victoria vs Jazz deal. If they are going to do a womens division....at least attempt to give us some variety. Not the same match week in week out, year in year out.

How could I forget about Jazz?

I remember when I first saw her in ECW a few years ago, I said to myself that she was something special. If anyone remembers - Jazz only fought Men in ECW and usually won.

Months after ECW closed, she debuted in the WWE - leaner, meaner and bigger (more muscle mass). She was impressive, but not as impressive as she is now. I think the year+ off due to injury has made her very hungry, aggressive and IMHO the greatest female wrestler of all time. If she can manage to avoid further injury, she has a long career to look forward to. Jazz has brought a new element to the women's division and the quality of the women's matches has definitely improved since she returned 2 months ago. Any match involving Jazz moves just as fast and is just as entertaining to watch as any decent match in the Men's division of the WWE.

I hope Jazz is included in WMX9, too.

Does anyone have a copy of the WMX9 roster?

In the past THQ has always included an up-to-date roster, I am sure that will not leave out anyone note worthy...

Hogan is an icon of the industry. I am sure now that he has been given a new gimmick to work with - THQ and the WWE will want to milk the idea for all it's worth. The only way I can see them not using the "Mr. America" character is if the storyline fails over the next few weeks.

Team Angle (Haas and Benjamin) are the current WWE Tag Team Champs - I sincerely doubt that THQ would be foolish enough to not include them in the game.

With all of the rumors surrounding Goldberg, I wouldn't be surprised if THQ had already designed the character for the game months before he was signed...I have faith that WMX9 will be just as good as Smackdown SYM.

Nintendo Gaming / Finding Gamecube Games!

Regarding Sam's Club - you are not going to find anything on their website. The only way to get a good deal is to actually go to the Sam's Club in your area and see what they have to offer in person. Their stock really changes week-to-week, so it's kind of hard to tell what you might find on any given day. Sometimes they only have a handful of games (3 or 4), while other times they stocked with a wide selection of 20 or so different titles.

------

Also, try searching through E-bay. I've bought a few games through their auctions and I have not been disappointed yet

I bought ETERNAL DARKNESS for $19.99 and TIME SPLITTERS 2 for $29.99, both brand new at Game Stop a few months ago.

Would that be the Game Stop at Cottman & Bustleton?

I live in the NE as well (Oxford Circle, for the time being). I work in Center City Philadelphia and I usually buy the new releases at the Game Stop in the Gallery. I stopped there on Wednesday to buy Burnout 2 and I was told that Acclaim shipped them out a day late so no stock would arrive until Thursday (yesterday). I picked it up yesterday at Game Champ (15th & Chestnut). I played it for a little bit last and it is more amazing than the first Burnout (especially the crashes), but I found that the courses seem a bit easier.

Nintendo Gaming / Star Wars Games

Everyone - thank you for your comments.

Jedi Master Yoda - I thought Shadows Of The Empire was an awesome game on the N64. I wish they would make a Cube Exclusive sequel!

Nintendo Gaming / Star Wars Games
« on: April 10, 2003, 04:25:12 AM »
I am a HUGE Star Wars fan (who isn't?). At 27 years old, I can honestly say that I have been into Star Wars for the last 23 or 24 years.

I own Rogue Leader for my Game Cube and I love it. My question is for anyone that owns or has played the other Star Wars games available for the Cube. I have seen Jedi Outcast, The Clone Wars and Bounty Hunter in the stores. I haven't really seen much mentioned about any of these games on-line. The little I have seen wasn't very flattering. Are these games really that bad? Are any of them worth adding to my collection, or should I just forget about them and wait for Rogue Squadron III?

Thanks.

Def Jam Vendetta looks to be a great game. Although, it's main focus is wrestling - it is not supposed to be a "wrestling game". DJV is supposed a fighter where the object is to beat some ass and have fun doing it. I don't really care about the lack of a "Create-A-Wrestler" because, let's face - game play is more important than options. You can have all of the options in the world and still have a lousy game.

If you want a "CAW" - wait for WrestleMania XIX.

Kinda sucks that Splinter Cell is also being released the same day. I wonder which game might drop in price first

It appears that Burnout 2 will be retailing for $39.99 and Splinter Cell will be $49.99 - I have been looking forward to Burnout 2 since I first played the original. Burnout was simply the greatest (car) racing game I have ever played. Burnout 2 looks to be even better!

Nintendo Gaming / WaveBird Suggestion

To me, if you are looking into buying the Wave Bird, but want the added option of the Rumble Feature, I would definitely recommend the Pelican G3 Wireless. It performs just as well as the WaveBird, and it is just as comfortable as Nintendo's controller, although it is slightly bulkier (due to the battery compartment). I have been using it for 3 months now and I have not experienced any problems what-so-ever, and I have not had to change the batteries that were included with the controller, either! The buttons feel and perfom just like Nintendo's and the control stick actually feels more solid than Nintendo's. Plus it is a few dollars less than the WaveBird at most stores. (I paid $25 at Best Buy)

Nintendo Gaming / Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron III CONFIRMED
« on: March 24, 2003, 03:00:11 AM »
Rogue Squadron is a great series. I am definitely looking forward to the third installment. A speeder bike stage on Endor would be awesome, but I would really like to see a game similar to Shadows Of The Empire (or how about SOTE 2), which combined elements of different game types.

Regarding a built-in rechargable battery...Keep in mind that rechargable batteries lose their life after a while, so the battery would still need to be replaced, eventually.

I have a Pelican G3 Wireless Controller. It performs just as well as a WaveBird and it includes the rumble feature (you can also turn the rumble off). It operates on 2 AA batteries. I have had the controller since early to mid January and I have not had to replace the batteries yet.

This controller costs (on the average) approximately $5.00 less than a WaveBird and from every review I have read, I have yet to see anything negative written about it. I would strongly recommend this controller to anyone looking to buy a WaveBird, but would like the option of having the Rumble feature.

Neither game is available, so how can we play it? How do we know if we even like it?

I like many people rely on reviews and buzz from other gamers before I run out and spend my hard earned money on a new game. Sometimes you can't just believe all of the hype surrounding a game - you have to pay attention to reviews and your gaming peers for a comprehensive preview of what to expect.

- P.N. 03 (GC, Capcom): 7 / 7 / 6 / 8 (Total 7,0)
- Soul Calibur II (Xbox - GC - PS2, Namco): 9 / 9 / 8 / 8 / 9 (Total 8,6)

Product Number 3's rating is very disappointing. Remember that this review is based on the version currently available in Japan. Capcom might tweak the game based on these initial reviews for it's US debut later this year.

Soul Caliber's rating is a little lower than I had expected, but 8.6 is not all that bad.

Yeah, I saw BURNOUT at Sam's Club for $19.99 as well. I wish they had it a few weeks ago - I wouldn't have bought a used copy of it on E-Bay, LOL. I can't wait for Burnout 2!

Nintendo Gaming / I am a 31 year old new GC owner
« on: February 24, 2003, 07:16:08 AM »
I'm new the PGC Forums...I find this thread rather interesting.

I am 27 years. I have been Playing video games for the last 23 or 24 years now. As an adult, I seem to prefer Nintendo consoles. The Game Cube is the only console I currently own, and I have no plans to but a PS2 or XBox.

Nintendo basically raised me through my adolescent and teen years, figuratively speaking - of course. To betray Nintendo would be like turning against a parent, LOL. Nintendo took gaming to a whole new level in the 1980's, 1990's and now in the 2000's. I will always support Nintendo products and continue to buy their latest console systems.

In case your wondering...I currently own the following games...

1. Burnout
2. Legends Of Wrestling
3. Metroid Prime
4. Namco Museum
5. Resident Evil Zero
6. Resident Evil
7. Resident Evil 2
8. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
9. Star Wars: Rogue Leader - Rogue Squadron II
10. Super Smash Bros. Melee
11. Wave Race: Blue Storm
