Nintendo Gaming / WARNING: Do NOT open the newest Nintendo Newsletter!
« on: March 24, 2003, 02:11:56 PM »
Don't look at the EGM poster, either.  It gives away all the bosses, something I particularly enjoy being surprised about. . . luckily they didn't give away the final boss, and though it seems obvious, they might alter it in an interesting way. . .

Nintendo Gaming / I am a 31 year old new GC owner
« on: March 24, 2003, 02:04:50 PM »
It's funny. . . we've spent four whole pages saying how old we are (usually over 20), and there are people out there saying that Nintendo is a kiddie system.  While I'm a mere sixteen, I'm still a die-hard Nintendo fan, and while I would buy another system (haven't yet, but would), Nintendo will probably always be my first choice.  I have great respect for Shigeru Miyamoto and everyone else at Nintendo.

Nintendo Gaming / February Console & Game Sales (NPD)
« on: March 24, 2003, 01:55:03 PM »
Febraury was not a wonderful month for Gamecube, but that was obvious.  Nintendo didn't have any games coming out; there were just a bunch of rather crappy third party games.  March sales with Zelda will probably be very good (well, at least the Zelda part).

I ordered it online, and it ships Tuesday.  I should get it Thursday or Fridayish.

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid Prime Discussion
« on: March 24, 2003, 01:33:34 PM »
I scanned all of my stuff, but didn't bother reading it.  Then, one day, I spent nearly an hour reading all the information I had.

Also, just because something can translate text does not mean it can do anything else.  Go to an online translator and try to translate a movie, it won't work.  I take it as granted that Samus's suit can do that, but it's still a silly comment to make.

I don't know about this, but Killer 7 is cel-shadedish and it looks very cool.  It'll work if you do it right.

I thought it added to the effect. . . made it more believable, much cooler. . .

I like the way they did stuff in Metroid Prime. . . you had to have some signs of intelligence to understand everything.  And audio/video stuff? Tell me, how would a Chozo sound, and what would a space pirate sound like, translated to English.  Please.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo E3 Game List: What do you think?

Ha, cool.  Fire Emblem.  That's another fifty bucks I've got to find, if'n it comes out.

Nintendo Gaming / Update on my broken cube
« on: March 15, 2003, 03:49:35 AM »
Come to think of it, the one Gamecube that was broken came from my friend that chews off his control sticks and kicks things when he gets pissed while playing.  And he cusses a lot, too, but he's the funniest dude I've ever met.  But that might have been part of the reason it broke.  His controller broke, too, but that was an accident.  He may have very well kicked the cube.

As for me, my Gamecube fell a hard three feet down onto cold tile and it still works splendidly.

Nintendo Gaming / The Nintendo Difference
« on: March 15, 2003, 03:45:43 AM »
I agree wholeheartedly (about Nintendo, I'm not sure about the woman).  There are a few corporations that I respect (something hard earned in my case) and Nintendo is one of them.  I doubt I've played one game of theirs that wasn't boiling over and drowning in it all innovation and creativity.  I myself am what one might call creative, aspiring to become a movie director/producer or novelist, and it takes one to know one.  The things they do are amazing, ahead of any other game producers by lightyears, and they never cease to surprise and please me.  They are geniuses, masters of the art.  They are Nintendo, and I like 'em.

That's dumb.  Ah, well I'm getting Killer 7 anyway.

PS2s break all the time.  I've seen one broken Gamecube, but the warranty was done just as efficiently.

I don't think I'd would like it, but I loved Mischief Makers, so who knows?

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid site info.

The one with the flash animation?  Yes, that information is mostly in the game, or at least information very similar to it.

Nintendo Gaming / top 10 gamecube games
« on: March 11, 2003, 10:28:27 AM »
Not in any particular order (the order in which they come to mind, I suppose):

Wind Waker
Star Fox Armada
F-zero/Kirby's airland/mario kart (comparative shopping. . . only one racing game, probably)
Mario 128
Killer 7
Metroid Prime 2
next zelda game
any kirby adventure game

other that look good but I probably don't have enough money or complete need of:
Dead Pheonix
Viewtiful Joe
Pikmin 2
Sonic
and more

4842
NES, of course.

Nah, but n64 I haven't played in a while, and my computer is a rare distraction.  I don't play video games too often, but Gamecube takes up most of that time. . .

General Gaming / XBX > PS2 > GCN in gaming reviews.
« on: March 08, 2003, 12:05:54 PM »
All the dumb third party titles should leave Gamecube so they can get higher scores.  If Gamecube was only Nintendo, Capcom, Sega, and all those folks, it would beat the competition into the ground, rating-wise.  All the crappy third parties bring the ratings down. . . it's not like anyone buys em anyway.

Nintendo Gaming / Wrong about Metroid?
« on: March 08, 2003, 12:00:17 PM »
Okay, but first we send a virus and crash his computer, ruining any sort of life he thought he might have had.

4845
Plus Halo is going to come out for PC, leaving Xbox with a measly one, and it's barely even above 90. . .

GC has generally higher scores than PS2, though. . . at least the Nintendo ones, anyway. . .

Wait till Nintendo's huge line-up this year comes out. . . should get some good scores. . .

4846
Metroid Prime is awesome.

Sly Cooper is very deserving of what it got.  That was a fun game.

Other Nintendo games should have gotten some of that stuff, like Super Mario Sunshine (visual arts. . . Kingdom Hearts didn't impress me too much, though I saw little.  The Mario water effects are stunning) or Animal Crossing (never played it, but people say it's good).

Nintendo Gaming / Reservoir Dogs for Ps2, X-box and...
« on: March 08, 2003, 11:25:56 AM »
Mostly small corporations are shunning it. . . crappy ones.  EA, Sega, Capcom, (more, I'm not good with developer names), and some other small (but good) insitutions (Retro, Silicon Knights, etc) seem to be clinging to Gamecube, since it's "developer friendly" (plus Nintendo is cool).  Things may change come next console. . . N64, despite Nintendo's good games on it, got a bad name, and that's the only reason why Gamecube isn't roaringly successful.  And the fact that people are stupid, but I intend to slaughter all the idiots in the world before the next gen console comes out. . .

Nintendo Gaming / Music in Games
« on: March 08, 2003, 11:19:30 AM »
Nintendo music tends to be very good. . . Metroid Prime's music (made exclusively by Nintendo) is spectacular, Mario Sunshine has happy, appropriate tunes (and very nice), and most of the Wind Waker music sounds good. . . generally, the games I get have good music, so I can't really say much about bad music in games. . .

Nintendo Gaming / Wrong about Metroid?
« on: March 08, 2003, 11:15:33 AM »
People like that piss me off. . . besides the fact that they were obviously biased and have no sense of what little art there is to video gaming.  Out of all the systems, Nintendo makes the most innovative, least cliche ridden games there are, no argument.  Splinter Cell is great, but it's just a new version of fifty other games.  Metroid Prime is unique, and the storyline actually requires effort and observation to unfold. . . unlike an RPG, which smacks it right in your face in a very unrealistic way. . . Prime is just staying true to its roots.

General Gaming / NOT GOOD FOR THE CUBE
« on: March 06, 2003, 02:44:51 PM »
Yay for them.  I don't play arcades anyway.  Waste of money.  Besides, they'll see the Gamecube games are better. . . get more money.  Yay.
