"like "gameplay"

Hmm... I guess you haven't played the game then because this is where FFX-2 shines.

I beat it at 92% myself and yeah it's like FFX meets Charles Angles (the plot/cutscenes ect) but the combat system was great.

And you could turn off the 'extra' animation when they switch classes in the options menu so you really didn't have to view the same thing dozens of times.

Overall, I'll take this one over FFVIII :0.

"You're in luck. Rainbow Six 3 is coming to the 'Cube later this year"

?  Where did you get this?  I know the PS2 is getting a port but they didn't say anything about the GC.

General Gaming / RE:Beyond Good and Evil only $10 for PS2
« on: January 06, 2004, 05:11:39 AM »
Actually according to UBI-soft the game wasn't discontinued but it said the price was reduced to $20 retail because the game didn't sell.

Quite a few games will going down similar roads since software sales in general wasn't as high as many expected.

It's not a misprint.  The game was discontinued so alot of store are marking it down.  K & B toys had it for $20 for all systems.

Just trying to get rid of them, better to make $10 then nothing at all.

"The AI does suck if you put it on easy because then there total jackass's."

Saddly, it was on normal, then on hard and they still react nearly the same minus the fact they do more damage.

There's tons more issues about the game--clipping for one.  Counted 1/2 dozen times when the AI was able to damage me through coners of walls or glass yet I couldn't hit them.  Also quite a few times when you exploded a barrel next to them and yet they come out unharmed yet other times it kills them.

Also the AI has a bad habbit of running towards you then doing a 180 and face the other direction--talk about a glitch in their programming.

-----------------------------------

Frontlines was alot more polished than this.

Yeah, I just ended up renting this (gc version to boot) and find it rather disappointing to say the least.  The AI is very off balance and the level design is hit or miss.

It's not bad for a rental, but $50 for 6 hours of gameplay isn't the best choice.

"Supposedly Nintendo have started aggresively advertising in the US, and if they have (i wouldnt know i dont live in the US, therefore dont see many Nintendo ads :\ ), "

Yeah, it's been marketting quite a bit this year, saddly it's a bit late though--it should have been this prior IMO but at least they appear to be going the extra distance (read that nintendo had buggetted 150Million for the last quarter for 2003).   So yeah it has plenty of ads.

Nintendo's doesn't have to make the games themselves but they shouldn't allow multiplantform games like GTA not to appear on it's console.

Also, it doesn't need blood or guts to get marked as a mature game IMO.  Driving & sports titles is what most adults play that I know.  Nintendo used to Left Field as a developer of these titles but they left after Courtside 2002 which left a big gapping hole in nintendo's lineup.   Nintendo should have done something about this years prior IMO especially giving that Nascar is now the fastest growing sport in NA.  MS actually did step up to Sony's GT3 with it's own PGR2 game but so far the closest thing nintendo has going for it is F-zero which is almost like comparing apples to a orange.

That's why Sony exceeds--it doesn't leave a gap in geners.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:s-video v. component for HDTV
« on: December 19, 2003, 02:22:10 AM »
Well since you have an HDTV you SHOULD get the component since it's the only way to get 480P mode enabled.

Try ordering the cable though nintendo's website--it's the only way to get it, same as the broadband adapter.

Not only discourging them for making the games but what about the hardware?  You won't be able to find stuff like component or BBA at stores only at the nintendo online store.  Bleh.

Even if this game goes online, I think it will carry a monthly fee (it's MMO after all) but so far no price is giving--sure they might give you a free trial month but after than it's $$$.

The same way Big N added MP to Zelda Link to the Past .

The plot to MP has big ole holes anyhow so why Not add in MP?  Would I buy it, HELL YA.

There was a Zoids Vrs (Gamecube) that was released last year in Japan only so it's likely the sequel will be the same--Japanese only.

Bleh.

Not to much saddly for any of the systems.

Think the best offers is the following:

Call of Duty at Best Buy for $30

Golden GBASP with DKC for $99 At Toys R US

Gamecube with new zelda bonus Disk for $80 at Walmart.

That's basically the good stuff--if you want a complete list check out the forums at Cheapassgamer's site.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Time Splitters 2.........How good is it?
« on: November 24, 2003, 06:01:03 AM »
The Single player mission mode was pretty much your standard fare, but the arcade mode (with AI BOTS) was quite pleasing for me--took along time for all Gold/Platium medals.  Felt that enemy AI was quite challenging but the friendly AI needed a bit of work.

Biggest problem lies with the auto-centering of your crosshairs--I HATE THAT.  Pefer doing it all manual with the c-stick and there wasn't an option for that.

As for MP, yup--this is where the game shines, alot of modes and unlockables and the best part is the co-op play .  Gotta love good ole co-op.

If you haveXbox/PS2 and a 1/2 dozen+ friends you might consider their versions since it supports lan play up to 16 players while the GC only has 4 players spilt screen.

It's kinda funny, when MS tries to take over a company everyone yells how evil they are but when Nintendo does as much--the same people take it as a positive :0.

Yeah that's not baised or anything.

"Comparing the art styles of Zelda and FF games is comparing apples and oranges. Zelda does not have to rely on character design, for there are other facets to the game. FF does, because other than art styles and character design, there is nothing but a long and pointless turn-based battle engine and overly simplistic text."

LOL--that's one steaming pile of crud.  If Zelda doesn't rely on looks than explain that do it's drop in sales?  Face it, cel-shading link looked like a freaking south park character and is what hindered alot of people from purchasing it.  And I guess you haven't played much FF if you call it overly simplistic compared to zelda :0.   Zelda's whole combat strategy relies on finding a partern to defeat the enemy which is basically the same as it was back in the 80's.

I really don't see the big deal bashing the look of the new characters, some are calling it rehashed since it looks alot like FFX's main character but why would that effect the game?  Since there's little to go on I wouldn't base my judgement of a game on a few little screenshots, if I did that then I would have passed VJ or even the upcoming MKDD.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:RareWare
« on: November 13, 2003, 02:44:17 AM »
Well that's an opinion.  ED wasn't as polished as it could have been, for example right for the begining there's a huge "WTF" when the police call the main character and she hops on a plane without asking what happened?  Doh!.  That just doesn't happen.

Or what about not being able to target legs?  Hell Vagrant Story did and that was 3-4 years old by the time ED hit the shelves.

SFA suffered alot because Rare tonned down the combat--making it just a simple button smash system.  Also would have been nice to play as Krystal a bit more .

Actually, both rare titles recieved an 7.3/AVG on gamerankings.com  which is the same as freaking Billy Hatcher which some of you played.

And sega has countless POS games during the last two years, and capcom's PNO3 or DC3 speak for themselves.

SFA score was an 8.0 ish which isn't that bad, sure it's not steller but it's well above average.

Yeah, I usually blend IGN's and GS's reviews to get a more accurate rating myself.

Found that works the best.

Or you could just rent the game :0.

PD was a million seller, quite a bit less than GE64 but it was released during the death of the N64.

And it's quite funny how people write off Rare for one title but dont' when capcom, sega or even nintendo releases a average game.

Nope, it takes a few generations prior to the combined efforts--meaing you won't see the difference until the next "core" chip .  Should be very neat to say the least, hopefully I can hold out with this 9500Pro until then.

General Gaming / RE:MS Teams with IBM for Xbox2

Actually, ATI really didn't have much to do with GC's graphics processor, they bought artx after the inital design was already done.

And the GC uses a IBM power G3 chip, modified a bit with added instructions.  Considering the mac's new G5 peformance, I wouldn't be surprised to see Big N stick with that processor.

Yup, DQIV for the PS was sh!T canned for the US but it was released in Japan.

Then again the DW/DQ series never sold to hot in the US so it's kinda understandable.
