Nintendo Gaming / GC2's Launch
« on: June 30, 2003, 10:55:02 AM »
See the thing is neither Nintendo or X-Box can or will make the jump to become leader. Sony has too big a lead. Even after releasing their console a year before both the systems, it still outsells (pretty much spanks) the other systems. It will be a few more generations of consoles before Nintnedo or Microsoft even reach Sony's level of popularty. What each system must do though is slowly chop into Sony's share of the lead, trying to level it down to 30% MS, 30% Nintnedo, and 40% Sony. Of course, Sony is no idiot, they will retaliate and strike back hard.

About your bundle pack at launch. Not to be mean, but I think it is ludacris. Bundles at launch pretty much states that Nintnedo is very desperate, which the fact is, they aren't even close. All I think Nintendo needs to do for their launch is the following:

1) 1 Mega-Hit title, either Mario or Zelda. Do not spoil us with both, but release one 3 months later to keep the popularity stretched and lasting power good.

2) A good sports title. Nintnedo really needs to convince one of the third parties to create a GREAT sports title, which will spark the flame inside a Nintnedo-Fanboy's Heart. Nintnedo gamers are hardcore and really know wether the title is good or not; they look for quality. We don't just want another port of Madden with just some extra boosted features.

3) Great 2nd Party games. I really hope Silicon Knights can pull off Too Human for the launch, this would be a great title for its genre and give some variety.

4) Fighter...possibly Super Smash Bros, as a tag along with Mario or Link. This would be great for the smaller audiences and older too. And we all know how great this game can sell. I wouldn't hold my breath for Soul Caliber 3. Afterall, how quick can they start creating a sequel for launch? (And take into consideration, SC 3 will probably releease for all consoles)

5) FPS....anything will do. Jsut make it good and SAWHEEET.

6) Launch at the same time as MS and Sony. But do not hurry the system and fudge it up.

7) The console itself needs to look smooth, like N64, which had curves and was geat to look at; have it release in a variety of colors (along with a variety of controller colors)

8) Anything I missed out can go here.

Nintendo Gaming / Question about Nintendo and MS
« on: June 27, 2003, 05:16:54 AM »
First of all both Microsoft and Nintendo would enver go forward with this deal.

Reasons:
1) The X-Box was created as a system to bring MS into the console business and leverage them. Their next console was supposed to be the money maker. If they were to make a partnership with Nintendo, then tey would have just wasted a multi-million dollar market, if so.

2) Nintendo would not join Microsoft because their systems would clash to much in their genres. Microsoft is definitely willing to take plunges by having games like GTA, but Nintendo is hesitant. Just imagine how the image of Nintendo would be ruined if you ay DOA on its console.... O.o

Yes,  it's true, or at least my parents were talking about it. My mom stated that she watched some special on the discovery channel about a guy who played video games too much (she couldn't recognize the perticular title). This guy was a lso a real genius. Ok, so the story goes that he played TOO much video games and went crazy and murdered his whole family (this was after he was ticked off about something. They said the anger came from his obession of games).

Now after hearing this odd, one out of a billion, story my parents started stating the fact that I couldn't play video games any more...

What has the world come to? Does anyone have anything I can say to my parents that will reassure them that I won't go crazy over video games. And no, I'm not a crazy type of fellow....or at least I think I ain't.

Nintendo Gaming / Resident Evil 4...Going to the next level?
« on: June 21, 2003, 07:31:42 AM »
Yeah, I think my friends mentioned one where they had to match the keystrokes of a piano or some instrument, and the pitch had to be exact. I think they went out to buy headphones and maxed out the sound just to hear it perfectly, haha.

Thanks for clearifying.

Nintendo Gaming / GC2 and Mario 128 info update
« on: June 21, 2003, 07:29:49 AM »
Since everyone seems to be talking about Luigi and vacuums, I think I better get back on topic.

IGN has recently reported the same exact info too, seems like that Japanese magazine is reliable. I really hope this new idea is innovative, but I'm not getting my hopes set too high.

Nintendo Gaming / nintendo to acquire 2 major developers???
« on: June 20, 2003, 06:13:27 PM »
We all know the next Nintnedo Console will be called... *drumb roll* "Super Duper Nintnedo" short name DNES.

Ok,  believe wholeheartedly Nintnedo will not be buying any companies. Why buy companies if they are already making good games for you? Such as Capcom. Why spend some more $$$ for more of the same?

Nintendo Gaming / Can Nintendo survive not being #1

Nintendo makes the most profit out of the three companies, so it's surviving the best. 'Nuff said.

I think they were referring to the puzzles in the game, not the zombies.

You guys mentioned that Silent Hill was easy. My cousins, on the other hand, thought it was insanely hard (SH 1). I'm confused. And trust me, my cousins are hard-core strategy gamers. They don't suck.

Nintendo Gaming / *sigh* GameCube finally hacked.
« on: June 17, 2003, 09:06:23 PM »
Piracy on consoles is hard enough, but you are now dealing with non-so-popular optical discs. With PS2 and X-Box, you need to get a modship, etc, etc. to get burned games to work. You also need to burn the media specifically, and sometimes the media is in DVD-format, such as GTA, so you need a DVD-burner. It is a long process and a very risky one, a lot of the times a person messes up his/her console just by trying to install a modchip.

These things won't make much of a dent ot GC for two reasons. It is one hell of a hassle and a risky one. Two, pirating optical discs is much more difficult than normal CD's and dVD's.

I also think characters should be allowed to bash the crap out of the zombie, when it is dead. For example:

*Leon shoots a Zombie down. Walks over to head, and curshes it with his  foot, splattering blood across the screen.*

Man, I jsut want more difficulty, more puzzles, and more GORE.

Nintendo Gaming / GCN Succesor Takes Shape
« on: June 03, 2003, 06:06:45 PM »
Hmm, I'll be 16 by the time it releases here, maybe I could get my parents to buy it....O.o?

Any ways, you guys need to speak realistically. Nintnedo would never launch Pokemon, Mario, and Zelda simltaneously for a luanch. That would be ludacris. It would be smarter to realease them 3 months apart, spanning throughout the entire year. I for one, think Pokemon RPG won't happen for a very long time. After this years E3 display, there wasn't even a hint of it. Just a bunch of side-quest- poke games. There is talk about another Zelda for Gamecube, and if so, that would leave no time to make a Zelda for the console launch. This leaves Mario. You could argue that Nintendo has something for him, as well, but I have other ideas. I think Nintendo is purposely holding off Mario until launch. I would expect it to be a major improvement and difference from Mario Sunshine.

I doubt a second party or third party would ever have the honor of being Nintendo's flagship launch title. Even if they have GTA4 or MGS4, I can definitely bet you the flagship title will be by Nintendo.

I told my friend the name, and he was like "What a f******* dumb title." Although he still likes the game because he is addicted to side scrollers.

OsonCube, you have the remove the Copied text of IGN from your post or the mods will close this thread down.  It is an infrindgement of copyright laws.

But about the news. It is great to hear that we won't be getting a Nintendo system a year after Sony comes out with theres. In fact, we may be getting it earlier, but I'm guessing it'll be around the same time. Although I only wonder about one thing,  how much better will the sucessor be?

I also hope they have either Link or Mario as their launch title. This would help in competition against PS3's and Xbox 2's line-up.

Since the release is scedhuled for Spring 2005, I'm guessing that is Japan only. Then Fall 2005 will be the North America/European release.

Just like the new Mario and Luigi RPG on GBA. They need one for GC. Which is more than just solving puzzles, but timely positioned actions.

If you are using an LCD monitor, there might be something messed up with the magnetism of the screen. I really do not know how to fix it, but you should got to your local comp shop.

If it is a normal CRT monitor, there must be something defective inside of the projector. Try cleaning the spot first , and restarting, maybe that could be a problem.

Good pics, I really wouldn't call them WP's now, until you add backgrounds.

Although the Mario one looks a little perverted to me. But hey, everything does to me.

Grey Ninja damn, save up the money. I'm sure you can always have time to play the demo disc later. YOu #1 priority should be food.

As for ym situation with gaming. I usually decide what game Iw ant before I ang to my parents about taking me to Toys R' Us, or some other store. I fork over my own $50 (I get it by working over the weekeneds at Computer Shows) and then enjoy the game. That's how my routine has been, I usually save up my money. Very conservative guy. People usually call me stingy, but I probably spend more than them.

Nintendo Gaming / 2D needs to make a come back...
« on: May 31, 2003, 06:44:41 PM »
2D gaming is great, but I think the consoles can take this to their advantage. 2D games were restricted in their size, diversity, and control. With the next gen of systems, we have more freedom than ever. Imagine playing a Mario game that encompassed the whole world rather than a kingdom. Instead of 20 levels, you could have 100, possibly more. In addition, we have the power of "saving" these days, so having games these large won't be a big problem for a gamer trying to beat them. I also think we can always tweak 2D into 3D, sort of what we like to call 2.5D. Viewtiful Joe is a great example of that because they used the side-scroller and added the 3D power the Gamecube can pump. The thing I want most is diversity in characters. In the Nes and Snes games, we'd just have to beat up like 500 clones of character. I'd like to beat up 500 different looking individuals.

I'd really love to play like a 200 level Ninja Turtle, side scrolling game, which would have lasting abilities.

One thing that could be cool for future online games is this: A 32 player wrestling royal rumble in 2D!!!! Or even LAN. A machine this age can easily run at 60 fps with all those characters fighting each other.

Nintendo Gaming / GCN advertisements - NOA gets it right
« on: May 31, 2003, 06:27:48 PM »
The bikini N64 one was awesome!!!  Who also remember the original Super Smash Bros. commercials, where all the characters are walking down the park holding hands. Then, all of a sudden, they begin the bash eachother. The music was perfect too...

Yup, I've see the one with "Gregg" and its ok. Nothing that'll knock the socks off a casual gamer, just keep them informed.

I think the main focus here should be "actually showing gameplay" of the game. Even with the Metroid commerical, they had like 5 seconds of gameplay throughout the whole thing. I don't even want to get started with Mario sunshine.

But they should first start by actually showing commericials:

Steps to victory:

1) Show commericials
2) Don't show dumb commercials
3) Show commercials with info and gameplay footage.
