If the Gamecube successor has a built in modem...you should at least expect SSBM to be LAN...online is still a big if. But if Nintendo wants to be aggressive it willl be online.

But the only thing I'd like added to SSBM are two things:

1) Tons of more characters (like over 50, hehehe) -  Let's leave Capcom vs. SNK in the dust
2) Longer Adventure Mode...with more diveristy.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo In Retrospect and Foresight

If Nintendo raised their prices for Game Boy no one would buy it. Hence, their market would fail and cause massive loss of cash for Nintendo. In one sense, this monoply can't really hurt us because it is not a necessity for life.

Microsoft, on the other hand, was broken apart because of its monoply because computers are essential to today's businesses and life too.

Heh, PSP vs. GBA SP, that is just funny. Who knows, maybe Microsoft is going to jump in with its own portable player. And then each flock of people will be showing off thier system while waiting in line...haha. And you'd expect all the hardcore gamers to have it.

Although what happens now-a-days is that people order it online, such as ebworld, and it is shipped the first day. But usually they rip you off by forcing you to get all these deals.

Nintendo Gaming / NINTENDO GAMES = BAD REPLAY VALUE
« on: July 15, 2003, 06:04:44 AM »
There is no reason to be calling the topic BS. Just because he isn't satsified with the replay value does not mean you can bash at him. And it surely isn't a reason to call him a Nintendo basher. I myself love Nintendo, but I also agree with him, but that doesn't mean you guys can't enjoy the replay value.

There really is no end to this discussion. It all comes down to wether or not you enjoy the replay value.

An interesting theory you have, but you are missing the Sony-Factor, heh. Sony will not just sit on their butts and wait for Nintendo to take their slot (or X-Box for that case). They did not just become number 1 out of luck (or some people do think so), but they worked for it. Knew how to market and climbed their way to number 1. Afterall, they had to dethrone Nintnedo's hold over the console industry during the PS1 and N64 saga.

I certianly think both Microsoft and Nintendo will take a big chunk out of Sony's hold on consoles, but I think Sony is already prepared for that. They had the lucky 1 year head start, which has pretty much won them in this generation, but they are loosing that factor next year. Sony likely has something big prepared, just as Microsoft and Nintendo do too. It'll all come down to who's is bigger.

Then comes the market-factor. We both know Microsoft is willing to throw the big $$$bucks$$$ to get advertising, buying companies, etc. Sony is also extremely aggressive with advertising. You can expect them to be head-to-head with X-Box in marketing campaigns, etc. Nintendo needs to do the same. We know thye are a conservative company, but they have to be willing to loose some money for marketing during launch. (the money will ultimately come back if they become the number 1 console). I don't know how much I can stress for Nintendo to market, market, market!!!

But any ways...I still think most of the mainstream games will stick with Sony, some will split between Microsoft and Nintendo, while some buy all 3. Microsoft is ready to make its leap at Sony's title just as Nintendo. You can probably expect it to be a 2 on 1 for a while, until the market share evens to about 40%, 30%, 30%.

Nintendo Gaming / How will games be different on a new console?
« on: July 14, 2003, 08:40:36 AM »
Yes, finally someone who agrees....

And being one who knows so much about this topic...it could be possible to make a 100 level 2D Mario game on the next gen of consoles, right?

Nintendo Gaming / Cube to be Number 1 at Summer
« on: July 14, 2003, 08:34:33 AM »
KOTOR will crush any Gamecube game n the summer just like Splinter Cell crushed Metroid. It's as simple as that.

GC won't be number 1 like we always think it will be. It won't, get over the fact. Stop discussing Nitntendo sales boosting because it won't happen.

« on: July 13, 2003, 07:22:00 PM »
I may sound a bit crazy but I want the trend to revert back to 2D games...You may be asking me why...well elt me explain.

Imagine playing a 1000 level Mario 2D game....Each with unique and logical puzzles....Just imagine the hours of gaming you could spend on one game. Developing would be easier cuz the graphics are 2D...Viewtiful Joe could be used as an example (but that is still 3D in one sense).

I purely look for gameply in a game. I could give a rats ass about graphics. Imagine playing a 128 player network of Doom (or any other FPS) in 2D graphics. Imagine having a roryal rumble in a wrestling game with 30 wrestlers. I really hope some developer out there can grasp the idea that more polygons does not equal great games.

I think what he is trying to point out is that those little additions weren't enough of a reason to replay it. I tend to agree with him...but don't get me wrong. Those games are still my most favorite. I guess after playing online multiplayer games, I'm used to that and not repeating RPGs, etc.

80% to 10% Nintendo and 10% Microsoft

Nintendo Gaming / nes 2?

The price alone would be $500+ ... I would never buy that. Secondly, I would not like lugging a console around just to play it portably (that's where you get the Gameboy SP). Thirdly, if you would like to compact the next console to make it easier to be portable you'd have to take away from its features because you can't possible fit all goodies in a compact case. Did you ever wonder why X-Box's system is soo friggin huge? That's because they have a sh!t load of goodies in it.

Lastly, I hope Nintendo never thinks about doing this because I'll definitely jump the wagon to another console.

We all should guess by now that X-Box will be the heavy favorite in winning the visually stunning category for the next systems.
This leaves the market open for direct gaming. PS2 has ultimately stumped Nintendo in this category for the last two generations. Not because their games are better (or worse) their marketing and image has helped them destory and direct competition to them.

What Nintendo needs to do is open their 6+ billion dollar vault and us some of that cash in marketing. Let the people know what goods they have. I remember when a year before Nintendo launched GC, my friends had no idea what the hell Gamecube was. They thought I was on crack. But they did know that Microsoft was making a whole new system and they were all going to buy it. (All of them already owned a PS2).

The mainstream media needs to know Nintendo is out their and what goods they have. All Nintnedo needs to do then is deliver killer games and sell, sell, sell!!!

I'd expect Nintendo to unveil their new console at Spaceworld (probably 2004) and playable at the next E3.
Sony and Microsoft will probably unveil theirs at the Tokoyo Gameshow (2004), and then have them playable at the next E3.

"i mean, com'on ... n5. everyone knows 5 > 3 > 2

therefore n5 > ps3 > xbox2"

Yes, but 2 + 3 = 5

Anyways, I've always wanted the next system to be called Nintendo Nex.

And I find it really funny that all of the fanboys find ways to twist a default N5 name into being an actual title. Just wait for what Nintendo has to deliver. I've almost 99% sure that they WILL NOT name it N5.

Nintendo Gaming / Killer 7 thread

If you read the update at gamespot, you can easily infer that each "smith" is referred like it was a different smith. This is just to carry on the story that he is wacko, who cannot tell the difference between himself and his own different personalities.

I think when it refers to killing Smith....I think that is a metaphorical way of saying that, that personality has consumed the body and taken over.

Nintendo Gaming / Why no Pokemon RPG???
« on: July 07, 2003, 12:01:36 PM »
It is not in the wokrs now, nor will it be for a long time.

There are a few reasons why.

1) Because this game is massively large, if you wanted to include all the areas a player can travel. The game could easily take upto 3 discs if all the areas were included, indigo league, orange islands, johto league, and the advance league.

2) You would have to model over 250+ pokemon and set their attacks, blocks, movements, etc. Adding to developement time and much much more.

3) Traveling from area to area would come into question. How would you do it? Would it be like Gameboy games where you travel form place to place. If this was so, then you would have to develope very complex areas and accordingly to do it that way. But this could also get boring going from one area to another (like sailing in wind waker)

4) I'd expect this game to be a massive online game, where there is one world and people travel from one place to another, challenging others online.

This game is not as easy to make. Just look at Pokemon Stadium, it took a whole game just to have battles against eachother. YOu guys are asking for a HUGE MASSIVE WORLD

They can take a bottle and suck on it. Same news over and over.

Just keep ond demanding games and Nintendo will keep on supplying them. Simple as that.

Nintendo Gaming / Viewtiful Joe
« on: June 30, 2003, 11:06:23 AM »
Advetising is not the only thng. Quality advertising is another thing they need to focus on. Some Mario and Animal Crossing commericals have almost made me puke out of disgust.

Another must is not to make Joe look like another kiddie game. They really need to show some of the kick-ass action that happens.

Nintendo Gaming / Cube to be Number 1 at Summer
« on: June 30, 2003, 11:03:38 AM »
I don't know what you guys loved about Mario Tennis. After a few hours in one day, I was sick and tired of it.

Secondly, Nintnedo needs to advertise. Full fledged advertising. They have to put their posters above X-Box's. They have to rip down Sony's. They have to play dirty and mean. This is no more fun and games, but WAR. Nintnedo must declare WAR. DESTROY THEM. YES DESTORY THEM....MUUAAAHAHAAHHHHHHHHH!!!

Ok...maybe I got carried away.

But you get the picture?

And no, GC will never outsell PS2 in this generation.
