Nintendo Gaming / RE: Metroid Prime 3 Revolutionized
« on: August 27, 2007, 12:51:46 PM »
Work is keeping me a little too busy...and I was finally able to check out some reviews and then I wanted to come in here to see how everyone was commenting on them.  Imagine my surprise while reading the whole Bill vs. GP debate.  My 2 cents says that Bill's rule about being allowed to play will only apply if you've not seen someone else complete the game.  As long as you know the whole storyline from MP 1 & 2...you can play part 3.

In my opinion though, I've completed the first 2 and found the treasure hunting enjoyable and not too much of hinderance.  I enjoyed the first 2 Metroid Primes so much that I didn't mind the treasure hunt because Samus was fully upgraded to where kicking ass was easy.  Now, if I had to backtrack through levels without any rewarded upgrades, it can become annoying (e.g., DK 64 & Banjo Kazooie).

Metroid Cometh.

For those who are playing before I can, this one's for you -- "May the rats eat your eyes!..."

Judging from Cassie's impressions, he's as gitty as a schoolgirl over this one.  I hope it just plays as well as his impressions.  We need a Bioshock-like experience on the Wii...for those of us who don't have an XBOX 360 and are loyal Nintendo fanboys.

I don't think you offer anything along with Super Metroid.  People will not even pay attention to the other games...not if they're crazy enough to pass on the greatest SNES game ever made (outside of Chrono Trigger).

Ukulele Hero...you made a funny.  Next thing you know...they'll set up a kiosk for this game at a LUAU near you.

For those of you who are thinking that was a racist statement....I'm Samoan...its supposed to make it okay.  LMAO

Not that it means anything except in the interest of trivia, but the name of the game was "Uniracers", not Unicycles.  It was actually developed by DMA Design (now Rockstar North).

Nintendo Gaming / RE:I demand a sequel to Kirby's Dream Course!
« on: August 15, 2007, 03:17:38 AM »
I remember renting this game when it was out for SNES and having a lot of fun with it.  I just downloaded it last night.  I'm starting to remember how good it really was for it's time.    Yes, put me on the sequel campaign.  I think the sequel might fare better on DS than the Wii though.  The touch screen controls would be precise for a newer gen incarnation of the game.  Plus, who's going to argue with single-cartridge wireless play for up to 4 players and 8 players online?

Updates I'd like to see:
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl online mode
- The use of an external hard drive.
- Using the remote to reset/exit during a GCN game.

Chibi Robo for the GCN was a nice diversion for like 2 weeks for me.  I never completed it because I got stuck...but it had a lot going on.  I hope the DS version is just as good.

Super Metroid was perhaps one of the best SNES experiences outside of Chrono Trigger.  I'll never forget the first time I used the speed boots or the X-Ray vision.

This game owns me!  Easiest VC purchase when it comes out.

Ah yes...nice reference to Acclaim...who was single-handedly saved by Iguana with Turok the Dinosaur Hunter...after that...they were putting out decent sports games...and other ambitious projects.

Back to the topic:  Can Sega be "fixed"?  Yes.  Sega needs a single director to oversee all of their projects (right or wrong)...a proven director that can innovate, lead, and has a pulse for gaming...like Miyamoto (except when it comes to judging the excellent F-Zero GX).  The proof that Sega can work hard under a leader like Miyamoto was when Nintendo handed them the F-Zero franchise for the GCN.  There are even reports that Miyamoto is cracking the whip on making sure that Sega makes "Mario and Sonic at the Olympics" a solid game.

A solid leader that is respected = Solid results from Sega...(and I can't seem to get the word "solid" off of my mind)...

A couple of possibilities come to mind:  Yu Suzuki and Yuji Naka.  Hell, I'd even ask Shinji Mikami to come over since he's on the fence with Capcom.

This isn't a complaint...its more of a heads up to the rest of you who plan to put down money at Gamestop and EB...its $10.00 and not $5.00.  The store clerk wouldn't give me a reason...and you're paying the same amount in the end anyway...but they've raised their reservation fee...

OR...maybe he really did play it for 4 seconds...but thought about how much he enjoyed it for the next 41 seconds... YEP...that's where he got his 45...

I really want to give this game a shot...but judging from all the trade-ins...maybe not.

Well of course I'll drop my Wiimote when Halo 3 comes out. I can't play on my 360 with my Wiimote. I'll pick it right back up again when I'm through, though.

David Perry is a HAS-BEEN game maker.  He had some success with Cool Spot (7up Mascot Game) and really good exclusive version of Disney's Aladdin for the Sega Genesis (the SNES had Capcom's version).  He took that success and created Earthworm Jim with the same engine.  Ever since the jump to 3D, he's had little success.  He had some hype surrounding some of his projects (like Messiah); however, those never panned out.  His last attempt at greatness was when the Wachowski Bros. handed him the Matrix...and he bricked with that game.  There were some moments, but its gameplay was outshined by Ubisoft's Prince of Persia at that E3...and had his ass handed to him in my opinions.  Hell...the ATARI booth and the Ubisoft booth neighbored each other that year.

David Perry can talk when he's making great games throughout his career...like Miyamoto...2D...3D...creating games while gardening and hanging out with his family...

David Perry...no credibility.

David Perry shouldn't talk when his success was

Hmmmm...curious about these high scores...

Kairon...I'm with you...let's start and Endless Ocean Campaign.

Quick side story:  I just got married and am having gaming withdrawals due to marriage.  My wife just saw my 90+ GCN, DS, and Wii Collection 2 1/2 weeks ago.  Last night, she just hit me with a bombshell saying that she beat Ocarina of Time in 1998 and loves Zelda.  I played a little Twilight Princess and she's excited.

Relevance of side story:  Endless Ocean may help to convert my wife into gaming and make it okay for me to play.

Buy Endless Ocean Campaign...I'm with it!!!

Here's my 2 cents about Super Smash Bros. Brawl.  It was announced as a launch title and that it will be online long before Nintendo displayed any games for the Wii.  The hardware wasn't even finalized.  Wouldn't you think that Iwata's juice at Nintendo, being the head honcho and all, would allow for hardware that took Super Smash Bros. Brawl online?  If I'm the president of NCL, I'd make that happen.  1 out of 2 promises is better than batting 0 for 2.

This game will be online...and I predict some voice chat with it.  Shoot, if the DS can do it...why not its bigger and (hopefully) more powerful brother...the Wii.

Party like a Rockstar...party like a Rockstar...

Table Tennis is on my Top 8 already...

Rockstar should secretly hide Manhunt 2 under the Ping Pong table...so you can run up and gut your opponent and say...TAKE THAT! ESRB!!!

You want an answer...

The Force isn't strong with the Wii...unless you're talking about non-gamer Force...now that's what they need...a light saber exploration game where you travel across the galaxy dissecting animals and plants with your light saber...AND...its going to have 1 to 1 saber control...and a camera to take pictures so you can send it to your friends via WiiConnect 24.

You speak blasphemy Kairon...hehehe...but you're probably right.  I have a feeling that while all of us Nintendo fans are enjoying the times...MS is going to take the control...and Ken Lobb is going to go back to his Nintendo training manual to figure it all out.

Ken Lobb...who feeds off of Nintendo table scraps...making old second parties...MS parties...

Mr. Ken Lobb...I will shoot you with my KLOBB from N64 Goldeneye...

What is the online mode for???...Nintendo should get rid of the friend codes and add voice chat so you can go scuba diving with your girl (or guy if that's how you like to swing it...or in this case swim it)...

Now imagine if they made an Adventure RPG based on Waterworld...an underwater Zelda...speed up the engine...add some killing and a huge radioactively evolved shark...and some sailing above water...I like it already...

....Nah...the game is fine as it is...my wife will probably enjoy this game a lot...

Nintendo Gaming / RE:8 Biggest Wii games of 07
« on: July 19, 2007, 12:26:40 PM »
My 2 cents of what a Top 8 looks like for this Fall in the order that I crave them:

(1)  Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
(2)  Super Mario Galaxy
(3)  Zack and Wiki
(4)  Super Smash Bros. Brawl
(5)  Madden NFL '08
(6)  Battalion Wars 2
(7)  Rockstar's Table Tennis
(8)  Wii Fit (if Nintendo can pull it out by year's end...this game is the killer app for this generation...and would put Nintendo out in front for good if they can get it out by before the Holiday's.  If I'm Iwata, I'm having these guys work double time to get this game done.

Honorable Mention:
Guitar Hero 3, FIFA '08, Super Mario Strikers Charged, and that Endless Ocean game.
