Nintendo Gaming / Re: Wii U
« on: June 07, 2011, 04:31:12 PM »
So the console only supports asymmetrical multiplayer?  Wii U can't have more than one of the special controllers?  Thats disappointing.

Also anybody watch Reggie GT interview.  He dodges questions like a politician.

Looking forward to the developer round tables.

So no major nintendo franchise teased?  Already announced 3rd party stuff and a terrible name. Super Mari MII and Lego game aside.  I need more to be excited.  I'm glad it will have solid 3rd party support but I still buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games.  I also need proof I'll want to play this on WiiU more than 360. The controller looks cool and all but if you want hype you gotta have more than tech demos.  I'm intrigued but skeptical.  The name is indefensibly bad though.

Nintendo crash shop.  Man this is irritating.

3DS is starting to be in serious trouble.  DOA sells 5 times that in opening weeks on XBOX in japan which never got to half the current 3DS base.

Hopefully it will do well and there will be a 2 with Adventure Time characters.  I'll watch for reviews but this is definitely on my radar.

Nice for all the FF9 love.  That's the best IMO.  Haha Conduit 2's ending made it all worth it.  Seriously there has got to be a 3 just to see how absurd it can get.

Get well soon!

I personally hated Brawl and thought Melee was the best multi-player game ever.  So I hope they do this one right.  Given all the coverage on other sites about this I wouldn't be surprised.  I mean IGN and other sites having featurettes.  Sounds like they got an NDA they can't break.  I'm hoping for a Melee port to 3DS with more characters and stages.  Or an all new one that doesn't have the trip.

Thanks for the shout out Pedro.

I'm digging the selection more recently on the show TYP cause I've actually been recognizing them for once.

I hope you do another all import show sometime soon.  Or maybe have a series of 1 import title per show just to grief the people that keep getting all 5 correct.

So game 1 is made by the remnants of Smilebit, who were the remnants of Team Andromeda who made my favorite game series ever Panzer Dragoon.  No offense to the game but how the mighty have fallen.

So they need to put highlights from the press conference on the E shop.  3D trailers all the way.  though I'm still gonna pimp my conspiracy theory you are gonna be able to stream the press conference on your 3DS form home just cause 2D trailers lack the pizazz of seeing it on the 3DS screen.

Can someone help me with StreetPass?  I can't get it to work.  My friend came over and we tried to do it.  But we had to delete our network setting cause you can't streetpass if you are online.  Plus there was nowhere to turn offline and have just streetpass?  We had street pass on and had our 3DS's on the whole time and it never streetpassed.  Is it because we were already friends?

Thanks.

I wonder if there is any street pass things in the philly area.  Sounds cool but its kinda sad we have to plan for what supposed to be a subtle background feature.

The final boss in the new Goldeneye is truly horrible. No excuse for that crap in a modern game. However, it's the only boss like that in the whole game. Conduit 2 has several of them. And my complaint about Conduit 2's bosses is not that they are too hard (Adams is very easy, for instance) but that they take a really long time and aren't much fun.

Ah so its more of a passing thing.  I follow you now.   Yeah I think boss battles in FPS are a bit odd.

I don't understand why anyone thought GE on wii is a good game.  Its like "if you hate everything about FPS for the last 10 years you'll like this."  Really I don't get how anyone other than nintendo fanboys bitterly clinging to their disdain for halo could enjoy that game.

C2 is much smoother and more modern than the first one.  It what you would want out of an FPS.  For me it clicked but I get why it doesn't for some people.  I enjoy the absurd conspiracy theory plot.  Plus the multiplayer is like CoD but slightly slower.  Which works for me cause its a bit more arcadey but not as slow as Halo.  Which per my taste I enjoy.  But if you don't like the pacing you won't like it.

Also your hatred of boss battles.  "Suck less."  J/K  But seriously you find these boss battles bad but like the end of GE Wii?  What?  That sequence was god awful.

I dunno Conduit is stuck between a rock and hard place.  Nintendo fans hate FPS.  FPS fans hate Nintendo.

Though I think a C3 as a cafe launch title could do well.  Show off the HD, onlien infrastructure, and make you money back on launch hype.

But I guess I'm Conduit defense force.

I dunno Halbred this game is just doing it for me.  Its weird.  Cause I play Resistance, Halo, COD a lot.  The first conduit really let me down.  I played through the single player and the multiplayer a little bit.  It was okay but a victim of over-hype and archaic design.  However this one I really find satisfying.  One of the things that really does it for me in FPS is bazaar guns.  I found the alien weapons in this really different.  (much like Resistance)  I've played through most of the single player and put a bunch of hours into multiplayer.  I've been sticking to hardcore mode and its fun.  They have just enough that COD level up thing going on.  Plus some of those multiplayer levels are cool.  Like the one with the UFO crash landing.  I dunno you would think as a hardcore FPS fan I wouldn't dig this but its really hitting all my buttons.  Unique guns, addictive multiplayer, the conspiracy theory fan service plot.  I think I'm the key audience for this.  I've put like 9 hours into it in just 2 days which more than played the original all together and more than I played Goldeneye. Goldeneye felt like it was "if you are a nintendo fanboy and hate all fps made in the last ten years you will love this."  Conduit one felt like a proof of concept.  This feels like a game I would play and like on X360 & PS3.  I totally get why other people find it bland but for me its good.  I might even pick up a head-banger headset.  But then again I got WII speak for the first one and that was a mistake.

I wish it still had Kevin Sorbo he was the best part of the first one.  Though john St. John is fun.  Maybe they can get him back for 3.

We should game night it for newscast?

Anyways anybody that wants to add me my friend code is 0819-4414-7506

I guess I'm Conduit/HVS defense force?  Honestly I hope the 3D version happens and an HD 3 for Cafe launch would be awesome.

I'm kinda digging it so far.  I only played the first two levels and the multiplayer matches.  I found it to be okay so far.  I think I'm the only person that enjoys the absurd conspiracy theory plot.  I did like the art direction of atlantis.  I have the gamestop limited edition. Just like last time.  I think the art book really shows that this has a better look and feel too it.

Hey Neal I'm in the philly area so I'm down for a meetup.

Also I'm surpised that only Andy was excited for a Pikmin cafe launch title.  I'd be all about that.  Also I would love a 3DS AR Pikmin game.  I know Pikmin has cool backgrounds but still think an AR game would be awesome.

I loved this.  2001  is when I started really getting into gaming (ie owning multiple consoles and reading stuff online).  The excitement for GBA & GCN were huge parts of my teenage youth.  So I really enjoyed relieving that.  Thank you for this.

Yeah I love Zwei as well.  I've gotten through the first two discs without my Saturn catching on fire.  So I think It will make it until I get a new watch battery in the mail.

I've only played the demo disc of 1 on Saturn and the original was unlockable in Orta.  I'll have to get it and experience it in its original form soon.

Seriously though all the positioning in this battle system.  Its incredible.  Its to bad it didn't do better.  I would love to see JRPGs move in this direction in terms of combat and strategy.
