Wow, Queen gets a Guitar Hero AFTER Aerosmith, Metallica, The Beatles, AND Green Day?

They should just say no on the basis of bad taste.

If you honestly think that the D-Pad is more accessible on the Wii Remote, or that the + and - buttons even COUNT as "easily accessible," then you my friend have freaky monkey hands.

I'm sorry, buttons that are literally UNDER YOUR PALM when playing a game are not "accessible" at all, never mind easily.

I'm pretty sure Mop it up meant on a Nintendo system.

Why would someone try to sell you grass? Do you live in an apartment and therefore have no lawn?
Grass!? Why would he try to sell you grass? Are you trying to redo your lawn?

I hate you guys...

Anyway, arcade quality depends 100% on where in the country you are, as well as what specific arcades you visit. Within an hour drive of my house, there are probably a good 6-10 arcades, not including places like Chuck E. Cheese. There are at least three on the beach(es), all of which are pretty much terrible. One of them is significantly better than the other two, but that's not saying much, since the other two are pretty much DDR and air hockey.

BUT, if you go further inland, you can hit up FunWorld. http://www.funworldnh.com/ Place looks like a castle, and it's HUGE. Three floors of stuff to do. They have games of all ages and types, and the pricing is fair, unlike a lot of places that will charge you a buck to play Area 51 or something. It's a really nice place, they have a cafe in there that is actually surprisingly reasonable in terms of price, serves things like pizza and chicken fingers.

If you go a little further afield (or you live in Boston or Rhode Island or something), then Dave and Buster's is the place to be. http://www.daveandbusters.com/

Food and games and booze, all in one place! Very affordable, half price games every Wednesday, plus they have a "meal deal" where you pay $15.99, get a meal, and a $10 game card which will last you a decent amount of time. Not a bad deal at all. Reminds me that I need to go sometime. One of my friends has a $100 game card that they gave him a few years ago when he slipped and hurt himself there.

So yeah, like I said, it really depends on where you are and what kinds of places you have in the area. Arcades aren't dead by any means, but they are endangered. However, I honestly think that arcades are coming to be back in style. Dave and Buster's is enjoying relatively recent success despite having been around since the 80s. I think that at this point, arcades need to be a "big deal" in order to drive business. It can't just be a little hole in the wall place that you go hang out at on Saturday mornings anymore. Though I do think that strategic positioning of smaller arcades could lead to a successful business venture. The problem is that there are very few arcades that are either accessible or affordable for younger kids, who were previously the main source of income for them.

You have a gun. Why are you standing close enough to them to get killed by a grenade that falls where they do?

Aside from that, Modern Warfare 2 is, in general, a completely unbalanced, broken pile of ****. It's not even fun to play because of the vast number of things that are wrong with the game.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: New Wii Zelda
« on: June 22, 2010, 03:35:10 PM »
You don't have to include Zelda, the Triforce, Death Mountain or anything else.
The game is titled The Legend of Zelda, so it kind of does need Zelda.

Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons...

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Goldeneye Wii
« on: June 22, 2010, 03:27:10 PM »
Honestly, I think that a lot of people are overestimating the number of people who want to play Goldeneye again, especially after Perfect Dark came out on the Xbox Live Arcade.

I'm not arguing with the first statement... but the second seems moot.

The original Perfect Dark sold around 1.5 million copies, while Goldeneye sold nearly 6 million.

Well that's at least 1.5 million that aren't going to care about Goldeneye!

But really, those numbers explain a lot to me about why I keep seeing people defending Goldeneye as being the superior game. Aside from that though, we have this, a full-priced "reimagining" that has none of the same levels or anything, while the Xbox Live Arcade has Perfect Dark, which is a 100% identical recreation, including three REAL Goldeneye levels and almost all the Goldeneye weapons, for $10.

Goldeneye is floating on nostalgia, and the new game isn't going to deliver what people are expecting.

I always heard flash memory was expensive.

Dude what.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134960&cm_re=8gb_sd_card-_-20-134-960-_-Product

That $15 card holds as much as a dual layer DVD. And that's not even the best deal you can find.

You think? The only thing about it I can judge right now is  graphics and Conduit rapes it in that department. Got any other ideas?

Well despite ANY misgivings that anybody may have with the first Conduit, the fact is that it laid an extremely solid foundation for the series. While there was nothing really stand-out about the game or its design, the fact that it more or less perfected first-person shooting controls on the Wii is a huge step in the right direction. On top of that, it's obvious from what we've seen/heard about the sequel that they are listening very closely to what people had to say about the first game. Already you can tell that the level and artistic design are both leagues beyond the first game. I mean, Activision has experience with shooters, sure. But this looks and sounds like a full-on cash in, even with the impressions coming from the show floor. I think that Conduit 2 has much more solid ground to stand on.

As for which one will sell better, I guess we'll see. Honestly, I think that a lot of people are overestimating the number of people who want to play Goldeneye again, especially after Perfect Dark came out on the Xbox Live Arcade. And even if they aren't, the fact is that THIS IS NOT THE SAME GAME. This is a complete reimagining, and all the people who are going to be looking at this game as a way of reliving the good old days are going to be extremely disappointed when they find that out.

Mystic Heroes had four characters, and a fraction of the combat and enemy selection that any of the Dynasty Warriors 3+ games have. Mystic Heroes was okay for a bit, but that bit was much less than Dynasty Warriors.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Epic Mickey - Wii Exclusive
« on: June 20, 2010, 09:59:53 PM »
What's so good about this is that it's still an exclusive to the Wii.

That, and it doesn't include any emo characters from Final Fantasy.

That is why we have Warren at the helm and not Square. This is really what Kingdom Hearts should have been.

In which case Kingdom Hearts wouldn't exist, because the two games are completely different. The only reason people are comparing the games at all is "lol Disney."

I'm surprised by the number of people here who seem to have never played Dynasty Warriors. I like it well enough, but I can't say I would ever spend money on it, especially full price.

Can't anybody write any sort of anything about Ocarina of Time without using the phrase "best game of all time"?

Well there are a buttload of sequels coming out from various companies, that you really can't yet dictate as to whether or not the console versions will be superior.

I haven't played any of the Samurai Warriors games, but most Japanese games I have played sound better with the English dubs

Koei games are not included in that.

Sucks for Conduit 2 to have this bitch coming out the same season  >.< I plan on buying both though.

Honestly I would be incredibly surprised if this was even half as good as Conduit 2.

Crap. I need a PS3. :(

Wow, this mode looks pretty sweet. Huge map.

Also, I'm LOVING the music.

172
Vigilante is back.

I wish. I always liked Vigilante 8 more than Twisted Metal.

Anyway, this wasn't really a surprise to anybody, I don't think. Kinda neat though. Where are the good car combat games on other systems?

Well when all it is is cars and scenery, it's very easy to make it look good.

Well it's a plus for me because it saves me from the terrible English dubs. I don't know Japanese so I don't notice whether or not the Japanese language tracks are bad.

But I mean... Listing it as a FEATURE of the game? That's just... desperate.
