TalkBack / Re: Pokémon Black & White Break Australian Sales Records
« on: March 29, 2011, 12:09:13 AM »
Although it may be too late, last night whilst trying to sleep, I was seriously considering whether or not it'd be too late to cancel my preorder and just import a 3DS from the US. Our market is so small, yet our ratings board charges a freakin' mint to rate the releases. A lot of publishers just don't bother on DSiWare, with press releases having a big-arse 'Europe Only!!!' plastered on the majority. Pointless delays, expensive exerything... It makes me cry from my anus. Our minimum wage is almost double that of the US, so cost of living and all of that, but thanks to internets, we're no longer in the dark about when and how we get shafted, making the whole segmented market deal seem even more outdated and stupid than it's ever been. Ten years ago, our dollar was worth half of what it is today, yet prices have stayed exactly the same. If only more people weren't oblivious to the importing scene, things might change.

The region-free PS3 shelves in stores here are flooded with great deals, thanks to a more savvy consumer and a general decency of allowing consumers the option of importing if publishers feel the gamble to release something in our small market isn't worth the risk. It's not all doom and gloom though! Nintendo have decided to be generous, deciding to leave 3DS software prices as the same they are for regular DS games. Only $70US! I feel for the New Zealander fans though, as I think they're getting slapped with a $100 price tag. The age of internets, people.

Crappy iPhone games still waltz their way into our marketplace bypassing our ratings board alltogether, so why can't crappy DSiWare games? I want my five other notepads, damnit.

'Grats to the Pokemans, but it's chump change in the grand scheme of things. A big punch in the balls to Nintendo for region locking the 3DS and pushing us off a cliff even before the launch by not releasing Pilot Wings for a month. "Jeez...have a cry about it, Scatt. <_<" I freakin' am!! >_<

NWR Forums Discord / Re: James Jones's XL Unit
« on: March 27, 2011, 01:49:23 PM »
James' XL unit is recommended for the elderly with vision problems--stimulating their mind at least once a day with the recommended exercises. Some doctor perv in Japan thinks it'll prevent all types of mental diseases if the old peoples do them a lot. Frankly, I'm inclined to believe said diseases would actually be induced via too much of James' unit.

I've got a unit similar to James. It's brown, though I'm white. It's probably due to too much man-handling I guess. My aunt loves it though.  :-X

Neal's had his new unit for a week now and has been playing with it furiously, as he mentioned on the latest Newscast. There are growing concerns that extended sessions with units similar to Neal's may cause eye damage, and that special precautions must be taken when children under six play with it.

Resident Aussie complainer here. We have an extra half of a month to wait before this game comes out for some reason, and God knows whenever Steel Diver's gonna get here, but yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to this one.

Just like KnowsNothing, I too am getting a bit tired of this 'lack of content' that seems to be flying around at Nintendo these days whenever they think there's a chance that the game'll appeal to the 'casual' market. Appealing to the casuals and a low amount of content don't have to go hand-in-hand, Nintendo. You're only enforcing the stereotype that casual gamers crave cheap and lazy throw-away games. OHWAIT, didn't Iwata say those types of throw-away games were bad at his GDC speech? HRM!!

I guess this game still seems like it'll easily get plenty of more use out of it when compared to the *makes explosive noise with mouth* Steel Diver. So many years in development *cough* and it's only seven missions long? Gawd, it looks like I'm just begging to get one of those "If you don't like it, then piss off" comments, but Ninty...*sniff* I've always been a fanboy, but they make it so easy to point out glaringly obvious flaws these days.

General Gaming / Re: Sony Hasn't Learned Anything, While Nintendo Has.

From kiddie to cheap.

I'm thinking Nintendo's first taste of the casual buzz came with the introduction of Nintendogs, and they've been clamouring for more of that crowd ever since. It's clear they still want to entice that same market with the 3DS, seeing as Nintendogs is a launch title. I find it all a little confusing, seeing as the 3DS' price isn't exactly cheap...maybe even a bit too expensive, certainly for the non-enthusiasts.

I can't wait to get my dirty hands on this 3DS! A lot of the media out there has me pretty underwhelmed, and I'm hoping that that's due to the images having to be blown up on the intertubes or something. After all of that "IT LOOKS LIKE AN EXBAWKS!" before the reveal, to now having that "We've had to compromise to get the game on a Nintendo platform" we've all hated hearing throughout the Wii's lifespan. Yeah, It's not so much that I care about moving backgrounds in a Street Fighter game, but damnit...  :'(

So Scatt-Man, what are your powers? I want your babies!

I'm able to misquote people in forums when the coding allows for slightly humorous results...sometimes. My babies are in the car if you want them.  ;) Oh! I'm also able to make delicious sammiches even though I'm not a woman. True story!

Gameboy Freak, why don't you just fly? Unveil those 50,000 more powers you've been hiding these past eight seasons and just be done with it. Jeez!

Conker's Bad Fur Day was pretty kew. It came out 'ere for $140 I think. I was a sucker for Rare platformers back then, even though the majority of 'em were the same. This one's multiplayer was quite addictive.

OH!! Walked into a store I'd never been in before yesterday called Gametraders. I nostalgiagasmed all over the place. Dude, there were boxed SNES and N64 games and everything! Donkey Kong Country, OMG!! Secret of Mana for $100!! My favorite game of all time!! I think I might actually buy a few Gamecube games from there. They had Geist, Baiton Kaitos and others. I've heard good things. End!

85
Just the Street Fighters for me. Dabbled in the console version a teeny bit and seems...like Street Fighter. I loved Alpha 2 with the World Tour mode. Gave a bit of meat to the overall package. Heh... 'meat package.' Heh...What are ya buyin'?

I'd have grabbed Pilotwings and Steel Diver, BUT OH NO, they're not being released at launch in Australia for some stupid reason. *Punches monitor in the face*

My 3DS is coming bundled with that 2D Rabbids platformer. 'Tis not on the list, so I dunno. *Has a little cry about it*

86
Exactly! The bitch got what was coming to her.

87
Snake Rattle 'n Roll was the shiznit.

So I found the place.  Hi!

I'm another Aussie gamer but I've decided not to put up with NAL's crap any longer and am importing systems/games from the US exclusively from now on.

Bastard! I had full intentions of doing the same, but Dick Smith's (heh...'dick') preorder deal suckered in a lot of the crew from Aussie Nintendo (WHERE INFERNAL RESIDES, OMG!), myself included. Time to look forward to pointless delays and games not coming out all-together. We don't have Shantae or Cave Story yet.  :'( Piracy, if available, will be used if I get fed up enough. Gah! Should've just imported. No Pilotwings or Steel Diver at launch for us. No reason as always. Market manipulation, amirite? :-[

I saw my first ever snake in the wild a few days back on one of my walks. T'was about 4 feet long, 9 inches in diametre, and completely glossy black. Bricks were shat. Flashbacks of prison showers and what-not. Throwing a pokeball was of little effect, as he'd been recharging his HP in the sun all day. Save states would've been helpful.

I'd sure love to live in Kuki, or is it kochi? Regardless, it sounds delicious!

I love you, lolmonade. Don't go!  :'(

*Walks away all sad-like* I'm checkin' out your Youtube video thread first, and there ain't nothin' you can do about it! ...Don't delete it.

'Tis just a muck-around forum, mate. There are sections to talk about games here too, so I'm sold.

Infernal Monkey? YAR! Aussie-Nintendo Forums is one of my 'hanging out to be cool' spots, and he's an...admin or something there. He probably wouldn't know me if you mentioned me to him though due to my measly 600-odd post count. Pathetic.

My mom used to grow and can her own rhurbarb.
It's my dream to someday grow and my own rhurbarb. But not for pie, as pies should only contain meat fillings. You crazy Americans. We do have apple pies and...red flavoured pies, but meat pies are consumed way more. Steak and egg? Cheese and bacon? It's all offal anyway, but it's delicious offal. Best intestines EVAR!

Shyggies, Queensland got the floods after a really bad drought (NE Aus), then a cyclone shortly after. Western Australia (W Aus :-3) got the fires I think, I dunno, I don't watch the TV anymore. Victoria (SE Aus) got really bad fires a year or two ago which killed lots of people. I live in New South Wales (E Aus), right around Sydney, which is the capitol of Australia, as everyone knows... 'Tis just common knowledge. We had Oprah here a few months back, so that's a cyclone of sorts. Millions dead serious about their appreciation of Oprah.

*EDIT*

I guess my Oprah comment was uncalled for. I now have a minus against my name. *Ctrl+X wrists*

*MOAR EDITS*

Health Bar Spiders (Final Fantius Freakin' Huegious) are quite common in Australia, their native homeland, and are quite distinguishable by their hueg size. So huge, infact, that they have health bars akin to those in Final Fantasy games above their heads. Hunters despise them, however, due to the fact that once the killing blow has been made, the carcase vanashes. Scientists believe that they pass on over into another dimension (Dimension X), where Krang is still on his desperate quest to retrieve his bawwwdy. TMNT TMNT TMNT HIaH-S TURTLE POWER! Yeah, I freakin' hate spiders too, bud.

My name's Wikipedia McFluffers, and I enjoy walking for teh exercise. Podcasts are good listening material, but I started my RFN career long before this exercising binge started. Greg's voice is so soothing...it knocks me out quick-smart. Oh, and if any of you podcast masters are reading this, and get the chance to sometime talk to Craig Harris, could you apologise to him for me about that Babbage's question on the live podcast? T'was just a little joke that I hope didn't annoy him too greatly. I donated $5 for it, so at least some good came from it. Digress FTW.

I like to complain about Nintendo of Australia a lot, makin' me wait ages for English games 'n such. SRSLY!

End.

I got Shy Guy's PM too. So... what is this?

It's not an initiation. There is no hazing allowed... anymore.

It's more of a rabbit hole that leads to a small room with a table in the middle. On top of that table is a vial with a label that says "Drink Me!".

The link in your PM was the rabbit hole, and you are now standing next to the table in the small room. The Funhouse is in that vial. Do you drink it?

The red pill.

95
Roy, it seems we were cool enough to be specifically selected to be put on display in such a fine public auditorium. We're the best of the best, buddy, so let's not let the crew down! *Feels important*

Then I too shall call it the Funhouse in the hopes that it'll help me pick up chicks with this newfound coolness flowing through my lavender-scented...stuff. Sorry, it's gone. SO HI THAR! Them John dudes sure can rap, am I right?

96
Sup, I'm a new shmuck. Seems ShyGuy's resorting to PMing peoples to get us in here. BUT WAIT, I was, and still am, a little confused. Was 'Heatmor's Name Changer House' formally known as 'The Funhouse'? Mayhaps the entirety of Ninty-Wurld Forums is the Funhouse, or just the Community Forums, where James is no longer allowed due to apparent lack of coolness. *Strokes stubble* I am in need of enlightening. Google reveals a few threads mentioning a house of funness, but I can't seem to find the forum subsection.  :Q

I recall Wii software forcing you to upgrade before allowing you to play new games. Yay.  :-\
If the option is there and a few games I really want don't get released down here, I'd definitely feel a lot less guilty for playing ROMs given that Nintendo've region locked this thing. I'm not buying a second console for more English games. Bah, I should've just imported a US 3DS.  :Q

They're a business. Them taking even just the slightest amount of input from consumers is amazing in my opinion, leaving them with a friendly "We're buddies, right? :D" image, thus I wish them only the best of luck. Here's hoping they can get in on the fresh 3DS market before it becomes flooded with crap. I reckon their efforts and dedication deserve to be rewarded.

Maybe they could try a Metroid Prime-styled system, where you need to hold down a button before stationary aiming can be done. The Condyeet series seems a bit more fast-paced though, so it's anyone's guess as to how that'd turn out. But yeah, the current FPS system is pretty damned flawed.
