Nintendo Gaming / WaveBird Suggestion
« on: March 19, 2003, 05:16:35 PM »
For me, it is a bad idea to move to 2.4 ghz wavebirds.

-For one, there is plenty of range already with the 900 mhz ones. I have experienced less problems with 900 mhz phones than with 2.4 ghz ones at my work.

-2nd, microwaves run at 2.4 ghz, that can mess with the signal more than they possibly already do.

-Third, moving to the higher frequency will actually decrease the range that the wavebirds will reach. Just beacuse it is running on a higher frequency does not mean it will go farther. Check my microwave situation. Microwaves don't go any farther than the outer casing of the microwave itself. This is because the frequency is just not a strong enough wave length to go through solid objects as well.

-4th, they can interfere with home wireles networks. The average wireless networks for computing runs at the same 2.4 ghz.

The only reason I can see Nintendo doing this is to save costs, but they have to look at the functionality too. If more issues arise when it changes over, would they even think about going back to the original format?

TalkBack / Link Soul Calibur 2 Commercial
« on: March 19, 2003, 03:17:30 PM »
Wow!! All I can say is that they better run a comercial similar to that including the loud music to sell copies of this. I think having Link would sell more systems if it was just each version of this game against eachother.

General Chat / True Life : I'm a gamer
« on: March 14, 2003, 07:28:05 AM »
Ya I watched it. I thought most of the people were pretty lame except for the Unreal Tournament 2003 guy (can't remember his name). He kicked ass. I mean come on, 6 hrs of DOA:XB? I have heard from friends that the gameplay is worse than Beachspikers. It was interesting to see the Pac Man champ cause I never knew someone had done what he did, perfect game and all.

I second the 8500 vote. I have the All In Wonder 8500 and love it. Just wish the speed was on par with the rest of the 8500 elite cards.

General Gaming / GDC questions
« on: March 13, 2003, 08:42:57 AM »
What are the requirements to get in GDC? Is it the same as E3 where you only have to be in the industry or media? If so, I would have signed up since it was in my hometown.

Nintendo Gaming / Pre-orders Closing in on OOT

You don't consider PGC a major site? There is an official press release, and it is also mentioned on another major site, IGN.

Nintendo Gaming / WW going to the top of the rankings
« on: March 12, 2003, 09:48:59 PM »
WW is #3 right behind Prime and OoT. Just one more review, and its on the list officially. That first review listed looks familiar too. And what is that at the bottom of the top 10, Mario 64!?!

TalkBack / Wind Waker Most Pre-Ordered Game in History
« on: March 12, 2003, 07:47:56 AM »
I have heard that that the 4 million for Vice City was either for worldwide, or for resellers. Not to customers like this. Either way, an astounding job by Nintendo.

Nintendo Gaming / Zelda: WW tops 300,000 pre-orders
« on: March 12, 2003, 07:33:07 AM »
Damn, beat again. I just read about the 560,000 number from www.ve3d.com. They don't have a link to any pess release or anything, but they are a viable site. I can't belive that it has pre-ordered that much. Retailers and e-tailers must be having the times of their lives, both good and bad, with this. Good because of all the sales, but bad because of all the organization that it takes and wishing they get enough to fulfill all those preorders right away.

The whole staff isn't from Minneapolis (sp?). That is where Billy lives and a couple others if I remember correctly.

General Chat / Nintendo dominates top 10...
« on: March 10, 2003, 10:52:53 PM »
...at gamerrankings.com. Somehow, Mario 64 has crept back into the top ten. That makes 5 of the top 10 games from Nintendo. Zelda LTTP has slipped out of top ten too.

Nintendo Gaming / Dixon's ditches GameCube
« on: March 10, 2003, 11:01:05 AM »
I saw that news piece last night, or was it early this morning, also. Sucks that Nintendo doesn't really have control over who carries their stuff. And if Dixon's only saw what is to come later this year.

Nintendo Gaming / Silicon Knights.

Reading this thread makes me realize how much I missed in the game and how much more close I should pay attention when I start it back up again. I left off part way through the 2 time. I went through green first, I think I chose red this time.

I wonder how many laughs Denis is having if he is following this thread with all of the theories being tossed around. I know it has peaked my interests again.

Nintendo Gaming / PN03 Discussion
« on: March 07, 2003, 08:40:05 PM »
I'm still not sure about the whole dance moves thing. But it should work out just fine in the gameplay since its coming from Capcom. Seems to me that Capcom had similar ideas whith this and Viewtiful Joe. Both involve some type of artistic fighting.

Gyeah, first point ever on anything PGC trivia. I could of had 2, but wasted my first guess on first one, and then had to leave early. But I got Duck Tales!!

General Gaming / Cybersmart

Those are good questions. Free stuff is all over the place there. Anyone have any game related questions? Not that I don't think anyone with much knowledge will be there representing Nintendo, but worth a shot.

250K was before the bonus disc offer officially even started. I would not be surprised if it is getting close to 350K now that it was advertised. Too bad they are not doing the bonus disc anymore at least for the time being.

Not sure if it says it on the source site or not, but how many of those kids bought their own versus their parents buying the system for them. The kids may be under the parents ignorance or presumptions also.

I haven't been before, and I don't believe that each company's booth will be very large. But who knows. Next thing to do is wait for my confirmation to come and then start thinking of some possible questions. Suggestions welcome.

I was wondering if anyone was planning on attending the Cybersmart convention in San Jose, Ca on the 22nd of April. Nintendo will be there and hopefully have some stuiff to show or talk about. I will be going for my work. I gonna try and take my digicam with me to get pics of anything. Oh, you do have to meet these requirements to attend: http://www.cyberscholar.com/cybersmart_rules.cfm. A free $100 is worth 5 hours and a bit of walking around and getting free stuff.
