Nintendo Gaming / RE: Out of print DS games

I found both Pheonix Wright and Trauma Center at local GameCrazy the first time I looked.  And this was only like 1.5 weeks ago.  Both brand new copies.

How long would you need/expect this person to work? Months and months? Or years and years?

I think I can safely answer from my own experience.  They are probably looking for someone who can commit to putting in some length of time.  If you just looking to jump on the get into E3 that is looked upon very badly.  I have had that experience with some of my staff and they didn't last long at all.  As far as I know there is no definite commitment you have to make, but I don't know the PGC hiring methods only my own.

Idealy it is something that if you want to do it, you could keep doing it indefitenly without it getting into and affecting your regular job and life to a degree.  The relaunching of a site, and starting up new coverage and all is a very exciting time.  At the same time it can be very strenuous on some.  For a position like this the hardest would be at the start with what Johnny has describe above with fixing the game infos of old.  But as that gets down and your only dealing with Rev, GBA, and DS stuff it will get easier.

If you've got the free time and want to contribute it is awesome to know that your work is informing thousands of people (maybe more) around the world with these guys.  They are a good group (the few I've met at least).

for a 320x240 video, you only need the vid encoding to be about 5-700k/sec or so.  1MB/sec is just wasted detail.

nope, you supposed to open the top first so that the disc stops, then power off the system.  in all serioiusness thats what it says in the manual.  its the only reason i have remembered it since launch cause it seemed so backwards.

General Chat / RE: Getting into E3
« on: January 16, 2006, 09:53:01 AM »
I've been to the last 2 E3's (this year will be my 3rd..woot), and I gotta 2nd Pro's complaints about having kinda a lapse in gaming after playing all the new stuff then having to wait for months for ths tuff to come out...like the DS.

As Pro said, your chances of getting into the press conferences are pretty slim to none at this point.  I know of someother smaller sites that that are more well known, have been around for a couple years even that don't get in.

If you started to add say news posts to your site regularly it will help also.

After last year's E3, there were loooots of complaints from many many people in the media (including myself) who emailed the e3 expo staff complaining about how crowded it had become because many retail employee who worked at a company that even sold games could get in.  It made it really hard to get work done, and killed my enthusiasm as well.  I'm really glad they setup the 2 hour window for press only on the first day, and are really limiting who can get in this year.  It will make is much easier for all sites to provide better coverage.

One of the main reasons why they require license, is to filter out all the gecities/yahoo/other free websites any person can setup.  However, more bloggers are being accepted the last couple years too as they are growing in numbers and reputation.

Besides going to play the games and such, the other reason I go is to meet the other staffers from my site.  We've got people from around the globe and its awesome to meet them for even 5 days a year.  I get more enjoyment and memories from hanging out with the other people, than from the actual event.

If you are able to get in, I would highly suggest having friends go with you.  Besides the reasons Pro listed above, it can also help with hotel costs.

Ubisoft was confirmed long ago as working on a Rev exclusive FPS...I would think that should make it out for launch, or within 2 months.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Hooking up a Gamecube to a LCD monitor - bad?
« on: January 01, 2006, 06:17:22 PM »
I have my cube hooked up to my 19" NEC LCD monitor via the digital output->vga in for when the games support Progressive Scan.  It looks fine with no problems.

As Pro said with an analogue connection, there shouldn't be any issues either.  The Cube's resolution should be high enough to hide any inconsistancies.

Try turning the level of protection on ZoneAlarm down to medium from high.  I read it work for some people on another forum with the same problems.

Take a look at Pro's N-Racing video.  I think that might inspire you some.  Its all racing clips from the n64 that he captured and put to music.  Its one of the half dozen or so vid game msuc videos i have saved on my computer.

*horray for browsing the internets at work cause there nothing to do!*

yes there were bongos at 2004, but they have been removed as since before e3 2005.  i like it with the mic, even though you may feel weird barking out commands, its cool to see the troops actually act them out.

All i have to do is remind you Ian of all the people who complained about the xbox's controller and how big it was with the crappy "d-pad" as their reasons for not buying a system when it came out.

Nope wrong!  as Rab said as long as you have one person, and the other person has someone else, you can meetup.  One of my first online races was with Bloodworth and Mattvdb (sp?).  I have bloodworth on my list, but not Matt.

Aw gee, ya too bad that Reagan is widely known as one of the best presidents in recent years, and Clarkson is far and away the most talented of any American Idol contenstant/winner as evident of none of the other winners selling anything past their first albums... if even that.

Is that who it was who vanished at the starting line.  Thought that was rather funny seeing that.
